I really like how seamlessly his hair turns into fire, and that's a neat little tool/sickle thing :). Plus, those eyes...
Then there's the left eye which is actually Quidel's true elemental form. The rabbit body itself is merely a mortal surrogate.
Mainly his backstory reflects on how the Fire element defines his personality as raw power and incredible passion. However, Quidel's power was always caused by unbridled arrogance. He shows quite a distaste for mortals, especially ones that declare themselves rulers over their own kind. It's always Quidel's belief that only gods or being of superior power are allowed to rule them. So for every kingdom in control, he would eventually pass off his natural element to insurgents, rebels, and rioters as a "practical joke." He's considered to be a really maniacal trickster. That was before he was retired into this current vessel.
As Fire's passion is a key personality trait, Quidel would rather die than give up his power or even submit to means of humility, even towards the council. So they sealed his power away inside him, turning him into a lesser elemental while still maintaining balance. The only way to get his status back was to submit to his "childish pranks." But he found an alternative. If he can't use his power as a god, he can access it through someone else. So he took refuge in the mortal realm, finding something or someone desperate enough for power. He may not like mortals, but he hates being a lesser even more. And so this rabbit form became a "modified" fabrication of simple woodland creature that was just hunted to death and for Quidel to possess. As all mortals, the power is more limited but can be trained over time. So it's like starting back at square one for Quidel until he achieves mastery once again.
I bet this would make a really cool story as well! Quidel's not the usual sort of protagonist - he's really kind of a nasty character, with a lot more starting ability/knowledge than many heroes but also not much experience with mortality. It would be neat to see how he does in the mortal realm, with the other spirits none too happy with him, trying to gain his powers back and having to interact with the mortals he hates.
