Sparkling Intrigue
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Of all of Keith’s eeveelutions Sparkle was the one for whom Max held the most fondness for, if only because the smaller electric type pokemon knew how to push him. Not in the same manner that Blazer did where the lucario pokemorph was always left wondering if the other was going to kill him if he let his guard down, but in the physically exertive manner that left him panting for more. The speed at which the other could run could never be matched by the lucario, his body structure would just not allow for such a thing, however that notion constantly made the fighting-steel type pokemorph push himself just a little bit harder in order to try and match the other’s speed.
Just one mile more he would demand of his pleading body as it begged for him for a rest.
Just fifteen more minutes he would chant as his legs throbbed painfully underneath his muscular form.
Just seven steps further he would beg even though he knew the pads underneath his feet were cracked and bleeding slightly.
These were the thoughts that echoed inside of Max’s head as he raced beside the electric type. Looking over to Sparkle often told the lucario pokemorph of how much he was holding the other back, and that thought burned inside of his mind like a curse. Pushing his paws against the ground just a little harder Max willed himself to move faster across the dirt road underneath his feet. Seeing this Sparkle speed up just a fraction more. Had anyone been around to watch them they would have been hard pressed to keep sight of the blue. gold and yellow blurs that were the racing pair.
Yet despite their quick pace the speed for which they were running just wasn’t enough for them.
Electric sparks shot out across the jolteon’s body as he pumped his legs all the harder against the ground.
Max followed suit.
Over a fallen tree.
Across the local river.
And on further to where both knew the edge of the city lay Max and Sparkle ran and ran and ran.
By the time the sun was beginning to dip into the west the fighting-steel type pokemorph was about ready to drop from exertion but he just couldn’t. Not yet. He had to keep going. He had to make himself strong, faster, tougher. He had to be the pillar of strength that his mate relied on to keep their home safe and steady.
It was just as he was about to collapse from the lack of thirst that Sparkle skidded to a halt. Max, at his limit, barely stopped in the nick of time from crashing into the other, yet he did so, but not by pulling himself into a halt. Instead the lucario ended up somersaulting over the smaller electric type pokemon and then dropping down into a roll once his aching feet touched the ground. Panting like a freight train on its last run the Max bowed his head onto the ground, his long back bangs kissing the earth as if in thanks, and then coughed several times to try and get some much needed oxygen back into his screaming lungs. Once was able to breathe again, and the little black dots that had been creeping around the edge of his vision were no longer in sight, the fighting-steel type pokemorph turned to the side to look at the jolteon who was now carefully positioned by his side.
‘What made you stop?’ he inquired curiously.
Sparkle growled in reply, his jet black eyes staring forward at something which seemed to both scare and anger him. Turning Max didn’t have to look far before he found his ruby eyes falling onto what it was that the electric type was so startled by.
‘What in the world…?!’ he thought in awe as he looked over the eviscerated forms of two male houndoom. Pulling himself up from where he still knelt upon the ground Max looked back and forth several times over; the reddish-brown canyonous area where both he and Sparkle stood within was silent however, that in itself made the lucario’s jaw clench.
Pressing his paws together, closing his eyes, and then extending his senses, Max allowed his head bands to rise up behind him as his aura sense spread around throughout the area. What the lucario saw as he searched beyond the expanse of the canyon made him tilt his head a bit in confusion. While he was used to seeing other pokemon’s auras filter through his mind’s eye in their usually array of blue tinted hues...two very odd ‘somethings’ seemed to bump against his senses. Interestingly enough while both shared the same aura composition one of them much, MUCH larger than the other. Focusing on the strange anamolies Max found himself gaping as the smaller of the pair sent out a wave of aura into his face forcing him to break his concentration.
Snapping his eyes open the fighting-steel pokemorph looked into the direction of the...thing which had broke his focus. Grunting as he felt a feral temptation to go and hunt for whatever it was rise up within his chest Max had to forcibly shake his head to pull himself back from following up the call of that black urge. While it may have been a fun experience to try and find whatever it was that had just forced him to break his aura sight he didn’t want to chance it right now. Not with his body so worn down as it was. Not with the sun sinking ever so quickly into the distance. And not while Sparkle was there with him right now. Max knew that the electric type would follow after him no matter where he went and it was because of that fact that the lucario knew that he would never forgive himself if his instincts led to him getting either himself or his mate’s eeveelution hurt if whatever it was that he had seen proved itself to be hostile.
With that in mind the lucario pokemorph turned to the electric type eeveelution, ‘Let’s go back now.’ Max replied psychically to which the jolteon barked its name and then turned itself around.
Limping after the smaller pokemon Max couldn’t help but wonder as to what it was that he had felt just then. And then a deep howl caught itself onto the edge of his hearing...
