Sunset with Aleu and her son - Dante
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Short story:
It was a late afternoon, the sun was setting for the evening. But up on the edge of the mountains, both Aleu and her son, Dante, sat watching the sunset. Aleu had a long and pleasant conversation with her son, because he has inherited a bit of his mother's scornful, aggressive and disdainful. Especially from her adolescent's time.
Aleu: "As you see, my son. It is not enough to be just that bravery and a little scornful, just as I was when I was a little puppy."
Dante: "Really? But how I shall be, mother?"
Aleu: "You must learn to be more caring and trusting of the other wolves in the wolf pack. And also respect some of the other wild animals, Dante."
Dante: "But mom, don't we hunt caribou, mice, rabbits and everything?"
Aleu laughed a little quietly, but answered sincerely for her beloved son who has the same style as hers.
Aleu: "Of course, my son. But you understand that we don't just hunt them for fun. It's to survive on their food. That's why you can't hunt completely alone, which I foolishly have done before."
Dante feels so curious to hear Aleus' story. He pricking his ears and listening really closely.
Dante: "Have you really been like me in your past life?"
Aleu: "Yes, I have. And it was pretty life, but sometimes a nasty and horrible. Especially when I was close to being killed by a big caribou."
Dante: "No way...?"
Aleu: "That's right, my son. When I threatened one of their caribou cubs, one of the big ones with the horn, attacked me. And I wasn't sure what to do about the situation, until my beloved husband came and saved me in last seconds, but became a bit of a victim for me and got seriously injured a bit later. But he didn't just because I'm an important leader of the Canyon clan. He did it out of true love for me and in his heart."
Aleu's voice was both sorrow and heartbreaking. Dante heard what Aleu was saying and could hardly believe in his ears, but asked further.
Dante: "Is it really true, mother? Did my father save your life, because he loves you?"
Aleu: "Yes, my son. Actually, I don't want to let any wolf get seriously hurt. I felt guilty at first, but he says it wasn't too bad, although it took him a long while to fully recover."
Dante's eyes were now starting to water from hearing his mother's story and sobbed a little.
Dante: "And me who thought I was the only one in the family who causes trouble to the others."
Aleu looked at her son and his tears, she smiled a little and licked off his tears a little and asked him to put his head against her hairy breasts, while her left front leg wrapped around his back and comforted him and said in a soft voice to him.
Aleu: "I understand how you feel and think my story sounds pretty scary. But if your father hadn't risked his life for me, you and your five siblings wouldn't have existed. So think about what I've said before, Dante. And always carry my good counsel and wisdom in both your mind and heart."
Dante closed his eyes and nodded his head, while snuggling on his mother's soft fur chest.
Dante: "Yes. I promise, mother. I will always think about what you told me, I will always be careful and never be so selfish and scornful of the wolves and the other wild animals either. That is my promise. Oh... I love you, mommy..."
Finally he put his sad face against her hairy chest and started to cry a little quietly. Aleu tilted his head down and smiled very big at Dante and is proud of him. She now knows that he is on his way to becoming a real mature wolf, like his mother. But so says Aleu with a soft whisper in his ears.
Aleu: "I love you too, my son. You're sure to be the wisest and strongest wolf in the Canyon clan, someday, Dante. And you'll always be my beloved son, no matter how things turn out for you, or not. But I believe in you, I trusting you and your promise."
Finally she closed her eyes and nuzzled his forehead softly with her muzzle and also licked his forehead so lovingly. Dante turned his head and lay calmly on his mother's hairy chest. His eyes were still closed, but enjoying being caressed by his mother and feeling so happily. Until he fell asleep for a while. Aleu holds her son's back still, until she pulls him in a little closer, making sure he feels safe with his mother. Her eyes were still closed, but sighed softly, feeling very happy.
Aleu: "Mhh... You have the same gene as your mother. My lovely little one..."
