"IT'S HERE!" Serina exclaimed, sailing into the room. Shi waved the box with great vigor, almost whacking Andrew in the head with it.
"Hey, careful trus!"
"Sorry…" shi said, ears laying back. "Where's Kit?" Shi sniffed at the air briefly before ranging mentally to find hir target at his computer as usual. "Computer room," shi announced, then bounded off with Andrew tailing close behind.
"It's here!" shi announced again as she came up behind Kit.
He spun in his chair and blinked up at the Kat, frowning. "Did you just steal my mail again?"
Serina fidgeted. "Well… this time it really IS the book. I checked."
Kit shook his head. "I still swear you're going to get bumped into one of these days if you're not careful." He accepted the box from the Kathari and looked it over. "This wouldn't have fit in the mailbox," he said.
"Well, yeah, it was in the office."
"I won't ask how you managed to get it. They sign things out."
"I pretended to be you!" Serina exclaimed happily. Shi demonstrated by forming a shield around hirself to hide, then modifying the light on the outside to look like him.
Kit winced. "Just don't go getting me in trouble." He sliced the tape on the box.
Serina reappeared as hirself and fuzzled Kit's hair. "Love ya too much to do that, Kit-l'es."
Andrew chuckled from the doorway. "How's the book look?"
Kit examined the cover and the inside pages. Serina bent over to peer at the cover of the open book. "Looks odd, but I like it," she observed.
Kit shrugged. "It's cover art. It never looks exactly like anything in any book." He closed the book and offered it to Serina, who took it happily and flipped through it. "It looks good though. Makes it easier for folks to have a copy to enjoy away from the computer."
"I like it," Serina said again, handing the book to Andrew. He took it and looked it over as she accosted Kit. "So now we just need to let people know. Why don't you write something for that site about it? Then people can find out and get the book too if they want it."
Kit nodded. "Well, I guess I could do that. I'll write a little story about this scene here even. Give me the details from before you came into this room." He spun his chair back around and faced the computer, but was promptly interrupted as Serina slipped hir arms around him and slid hir paws into his pants. "Hey! How am I supposed to write this?"
"Fast, before I ravage you delightfully in celebration of your book," shi purred in response, fondling him. But shi did give him the details and he typed quickly as he could through the distractions.
"There," he announced, panting softly. "Just over a page. Fast enough?"
"You just need to let them know where they can go to get it, then post it. And then you are soooo mine," Serina exclaimed.

Any chance of this story continue though? :( I love to see more of the pair...
The proper book may be found at:

Soo, whats the difference?
The new one seems to have a few more pages (always good). :)
But i hope that (for example porn bits) was not cut out of it.
And are the older copy more pricey because it is the new version you want to sell?
Especially as the author link page only sows the new version i would guess that is the case.
Meh, i have ordered the new version.
10 bucks for economy shipping.. >_
This story gets a solid 1 from me.
That is of course only true if:
5/5 = 1 and 10/10 =1
are both true of course. :D
Excellant story by all POSSABLE, and even numerous impossable, accounts.
I must say that this is truly one for the record books for multiple reasons, cheif among them being:
NO glaring spelling/grammer errors,
(I have found these errors even in several "big name" books like the Harry Potter series and The Cronicles of Narnia.)
A SURPLUS OF creativity,
STUPENDOUS careactor development,
GREAT detail in general,
and I don't think you ever slipped out of careactor once.
I must say that I have completly loved this story since page one. I felt that there was a definate "realness" to the main careactors that allowed me to really connect to them. All in all its an excellant book.
Now if you will excuse me, I am going to see if I can find this fine piece of literature in one of my local book stores so I may read it and re-read it without stupid internet lag. (Full bars on a private network, how can it be this slow? Five minutes a page load is unacceptable.) I could just copy and paste it into a word document but I would classify that as theft since the story is sold for cash, and besides a stack of pages isn't nearly as fun to read on a plane. :D
Searching for the sequal,
Fire Deloi Vindr Adurna
P.S. Yes you may quote me on that, in part or in full. :D:D
EDIT: What the crap? Some weird thing is preventing my from using regular line skiping. Apologies in advance if the formatting changes again and messes up my review, again.
The only downside is that you likely won't find it in a local store. Try Amazon.com.
Might as well reiterate what others are saying, this book was freaking amazing, I felt so deeply connected to the characters and the story I spent half the time cheering/maddened/etc. Like I seriously don't think I have the capability of reading a book that quickly but I managed xD And since this is the best furry story I've ever read it might BE the best story I've ever read, mostly because this is my obsession of course. And while I've never cared much for yiff scenes I'm pretty sure you're the best at it from what I've seen so far, mostly just because you set yourself for a story with great mating and emotion lol ^^
I'm also rather interested in the release of the continuing story!
In honor of the 5th anniversary of the book, I managed to finagle a price drop on Amazon.com as well. It's no longer available to libraries or schools as a result, however it can now be acquired for $9.99.
A little teaser of things to come? Hmmm...
---
Andrew stared at Serina in disbelief.
---
There. A little teaser. :)
...
Actually... Go ahead and love it messily. XD
Dark Will was fully written and ready for pretty much everything to go. Then two drives died at once and the backup was bad. T^T
That must have been heart-breaking my friend. I don't know what to say, other than I feel terrible that happened, and hope that somehow you may find peace, if no solution, and perhaps the will to carry on this magnificent story, along with so many of your others.
Sorry for all the comments, but you're writing is phenomenal, and I have to say so after each chapter! ;)
I do intend to re-write the rest of First Run, the e-book Special Edition of Joined, all of Production Run, and all of Dark Will.
First Run is the title of a different novel series' first book. Production Run is the second book. Production Run was completely lost and a good chunk of First Run was lost.
But yeah, you seem to have missed First Run: http://www.sofurry.com/view/73425
Weasel Run is an author-written fan-fic of First Run munged together with Girl Genius' author-written filler bunny, but is based in the First Run universe.

Well who knows?
I do hope that some day you will post a chapter or two more, there are to many loose ends.... I know you have others, but none like this one to me.
I am still wondering what the gift was... Sorry, just wondering, Andrew never opened it, will not that we know of..
Hope your others get done soon so that you can get back to this Diamond.

Of course, sometimes a masterpiece is best left as it was, and let it remain incredible as is, sad as I am to admit that.
Then it's a matter of finding the time in life to do it.
Two references to enjoy regarding time:

That all said, I'm sure you have a life outside of writing as well that has undoubtedly changed in such an extensive time, and as that jellybean life points out, sadly little time to spend on the things you enjoy. While still I hope at some point you do decide to revisit this universe, I recognize that this is quite likely something that is now behind you and we have to be content with the conclusion to the original work that you have provided us with. Thank you.
Now I have full time work and enough haters that I don't enable voting on new stories. Recent cancer removal. Supporting my family. All the things. I really want to write. Lack of time and lack of inspiration and support make that less likely to happen. T^T
I've considered dabbling in writing commissions in the meantime, but the "going rates" in the fandom are less than minimum wage and normal rates for written work in the industry are unpalatable to fans. There is even a lack of creator nummies lately (which for most creators are in the form of substantive positive comments from folks who are positive about the work, but patronage is also an excellent motivator). My patronage is currently in a state where a high quality story gets me under $5 per hour for the writing, and with my current day job salary and work load, it's not productive to try to write a lot to try to jump start patronage.
So I'm hoping to get the drive and inspiration back. It's not abandoned, just very, very late.
I know the internet is a cesspool of people who like to shit on others' abilities for no reason aside from entertainment and jealousy, but you write the highest quality fiction that I've ever seen from any fandom author. Try not to let them under your skin. I am unaware of how the voting system works on SF, do you see disabling votes as a way to help your work be seen?
Commissions are a way to make money off of your writing, but you may find if you haven't already, that it could feel difficult to be as personally interested if you feel like you're being forced to write a piece. (maybe that's just me though). I saw in your journals that you have a per-piece Patreon set up but I don't see it mentioned anywhere on your profile (unless I'm blind), it may help your income generation if people are able to locate it easier and pitch in and few bucks. It may not be a lot, but everything helps I'm sure!
I'll be honest, I haven't read a lot of your work aside from Mind and Body, but I did over the course of today and I'm equally impressed with the others that I've read. There's something to be said for having clear progression, well thought out scenes, in character dialogue, tastefully placed sex scenes that serve as more of a bonus to an already amazing story-line, and plenty of imagery to induce immersion but not to the point where it distracts from the story.
I was extremely happy to read that you appear to be making a full recovery from your cancer scare, it's incredible that we've gone from cancer effectively being treated as a death sentence to having so many forms curable in recent years.
*Sheds a tear* It still hurts to recall the incident. ... Notably I lost a few tens of thousands of photos too, but those were not nearly as important.
Perhaps, to a degree. The votes are the 1-5 stars thing. While it's nice to have the majority of my work be at five stars, that hasn't stopped rating-bombers from making concerted efforts to kill that. It's a fuzzy feeling for me, but honestly the rating system is not a good indication of quality on this site. It's been historically possible to find typo-laden walls of text rated five stars for example. Getting exposure is achieved via Faves, especially within 48 hours of posting. While there are many folks who would click stars but never fave or comment even if there are no stars to click on, the lack of stars to click entices a few extra potential faves and also requires comments to give feedback rather than unhelpful star-clicking.
There's never any issue about being forced for commissions. If I don't think I can do it justice, I don't take the commission. I'm a legal business in that aspect after all. There is more of an issue in the fact that the "perceived fair rate" for written commissions is something along the lines of $2-5 per thousand words, with some relatively good authors charging as much as $15-25 per thousand words, often with volume discounts (less cost per thousand at higher word counts). The largest of those examples puts that at 2.5 cents per word. To put that into perspective, when the writer is not blind-submitting material and has no royalties expected, the standard rates for work expected to be published (for profit for the buyer of the work) start at ten cents per word and average around 35 cents per word, and for personal use only runs around five to ten cents per word. So in the writing world as a whole, royalty-free paid fiction writers generally expect to make $50-100 per thousand words, not the $2-10 that furry written work commissioners expect to pay.
On the line of Patreon, you're correct. If it's not easy to find, nobody will sign up. Mind you, even if it is easy to find, people might not sign up. Currently the primary location for the Patreon links are the footers at the bottom of most stories. Like the light blue one at the bottom of this one and the fancy grey ones at the bottom of newer stories. It could do with more exposure. Not full frontal though, as I don't want to be annoyingly in peoples' faces with it. I detest ads and I know others do too. The Patreon is currently in "One charge only, and only on months that Something Happened" mode, which is a manual thing on my part. The downside is that I am unwilling to withhold things from non-patrons and the logistics behind (and side effects of) early release for patrons means there are very few reward options for me to provide.
Welcome to joining the world beyond "Joined". The combined universe stuff has a lot of stuff woven into it (pun intended and clear if you have read that much) and there are numerous extra stories as well. I've always been curious about what leads people to read only "Joined" or one or two stories in general and not peruse the rest of my work. Perhaps you can provide insight into that. ^.^
This was a slow-moving skin cancer in what would be considered very early stage. Cut out the broken piece and as long as it didn't get anywhere else, it's fine.
I see what you mean about no stars encouraging meaningful comment on your work, when you put it that way it makes a lot of sense, actually sounds like a really good move as generally trolls don't feel like putting in the effort beyond the single click.
I'm glad to hear that you ensure you only take work that you enjoy and appreciate, I feel like a lot of people get caught up in 'I need to monetize this and give people what they want' and only end up feeling stressed and underperforming as a result. It's also sad that most people refuse to recognize the value of an author's time just because they think 'it's just fandom work'.
I'll be honest, I never saw that Patreon links in the footers, perhaps something about the contrast, but maybe it could be that I'm just unobservative and didn't really read them in the first place. I don't think too many people would be bothered if you threw a little 'If you feel like supporting me to help bring you more stories here's my Patreon link' at the bottom of your profile, in the end it's very unobstrusive and at least people will be more likely to see it if they're genuinely interested in your work. If they don't care they'll just read one story and leave, never to be bothered by your little bit of promotion. If they do care about reading more of your work then there's a likelyhood that they may be interested in pitching in coffee money to help you bring them more content like they love to see and that visible link on your profile may encourage them, or even let them know that you have that option available to them.
Why did I, four years ago when I first found your work, only read 'Joined' and not your other work? Well, I think in my case it was a mentality that a lot of fandom authors have one good piece and that's about it, so I tended to just read something that caught my eye and move on with life. another factor was often that I was seeking out a very specific genre and didn't like taking risks. Your writing however was something that I remembered even after not really visiting this site for years, and so I had to seek it out again. I was once again sad when it ended but I had a different mentality about it. This time I did decide to visit your other works and honestly it's made me feel less like I MUST ONLY see more 'Joined', and simply that I really want to see more of your writing (but don't get me wrong, I'd still love to see you continue 'Joined'). None of your works feel quite the same, but there's always a high level of care put into every one as I've described previously. And you're clearly aware of that considering that you do not want to continue a series until you have a 'world bible' in place that sets boundaries and connections where they're needed and provide you guidance on what can be written to ensure it's all 'canon' (for lack of a better word).
Chances are a lot of people see it the same way I used to, they stumble upon 'Joined', read it, see that there isn't a continuance and leave, sadly not really caring who the author is. Would a sequel perhaps keep those people around? Maybe, maybe it would help them become even more familiar with how you write and want more stories in other universes, but it's more likely that they'd still dip afterwards.
I hope that as I explore more of your stories in the combined universe I can notice the little connections that you've 'woven' into them (a pun that I actually don't think I caught unless you're referring to The Ring's footnote perhaps?).
I'm glad to hear it was relatively minor and you're recovering.
Mind you, most artists have a difficult time being paid appropriately as well, but written work has it worse. You can see the quality of art at a glance. It takes a lot more investment of time to see the quality of words. There has also been a slow push toward higher pay for art, which helps everybody who creates it. Much less of a case for prose. It's also not just a fandom thing to not understand the value of writing.
I'll need to add putting a Patreon link on my profile to my list of things to do, which also includes creating an "Index Page" of my stories.
I'll also have to figure out a good way of encouraging people to read more of my stuff, I suppose. The footer tries to make that a touch easier, but I also need to re-sort my stories and update the "Next" stuff in the footers. As for the world bible... it was weeks of work to calculate FTL travel speeds and logistics. T^T
Hmmmm... For the combined universe, you're going to understand the weaving better when you find out about Tails of Power stuff. I really need to get the chronological index done. O.O
This is true, there are so many writers in 'mainstream' fields that struggle to afford to put the time into it, let alone what is admittedly a fandom niche.
I just read the Tails of Power, there's a lot going on there. Is it also something that you're considering or planning to continue or is it more of a collection of explanations as to how this is all pieced together?
Lore wise, is the talk of life threads, tapestries, and energies connected to psionic energy?
Also I apologize for seemly creating more questions than answers when it comes to encouraging readers. Keep in mind you have over 1100 people watching you and your most recently published piece 'The Ring' has nearly double that in views in only four months. Unfortunately I don't think SF provides the tools to know statistics on who clicks off, who stays to read, and who looks at additional pieces, but your numbers are hardly insignificant as it is! I don't want to come off as discouraging either, because you've made a name for yourself here and judging by some of the people who I see as repetitive commenters on your works, some people follow you very closely.
Being able to say you actually published a physical copy of your work is nothing to sneer at either, that's something many 'mainstream' (I hate the term, but I use it to mean 'appealing to a 'normie' audience', again for lack of a better term) authors will never be able to brag.
Tails of Power is episodic rather than serial for the most part, though the first three stories are more serial. So yes, it can have more things. It's part of the combined universe though, so you'll see ToP stuff in a lot of other stories.
Joined and its universe is 100% separate from the combined universe. There is the CU, then a number of other standalones in my stuff. Joined stands alone. First Run stands alone. Others do too.
The folders also ensure that stories end up out of post time order. A story in a series may be posted, then a different series or standlone, then back to the first series. Account Swap has a story more recent than "The Ring", but the first story in the folder is much older. This is why the index is so important.
I understand what you mean then by a need for an index, it would help by distinguishing separate universes and showing the chronological order that they came to be.
