Author's Note:
Bloody hell, this is a long one!
Well, for my standards at least.
Hoping to make it longer soon.
Here we learn of the main driving force of Esix, the magical energy called Aura and about Ray.
Please don't forget to fav + promote.
Read my previous stories if you like or haven't done so already!
This chapter focuses mainly on dialogue and lore.
Again, I had much fun writing this and I'm hoping to pick up the pace from here on out.
His name is Ray, head of the Science Division in Esix, this world I have been transported to.
Despite bearing such a huge responsibility, he appears so upbeat and friendly...
He walked down the room, across the glossy black marble floors and enjoying the blissful moonlight outside which shone through the windows.
"You should get some rest... Er?", Ray fumbles for a name.
"Its Harry. My name is Harry.", I smile to him chuckling slightly at the expression on his face.
"Oh right!", he replied excitedly "Well, as I was saying, you're probably tired... Go to sleep and we'll talk in the morning", he rested a hand on my shoulder and I felt that comfort and warmth he emitted again.
I followed his lead, across the cold floor and he entered another room through some curtains. I looked around, assuming this was some bedroom. It looked very cozy; the dim orange light was very comforting to my eyes.
Slowly, I descended upon the double bed which was accompanied by two very large-sized fluffy pillows with the luxurious covers enveloping me in a world of content.
The next day...
=================================================
I don't know what it was, I think I hadn't noticed how sleepy I was.
I was woken up from a dreamless sleep, as if my body just needed to rest after all that happened.
Hazily, I got up rubbing the sleep from my eyes, and shuffled out of the curtained bedroom. The sunlight was gleaming through the front windows of the room and it was quite bright; I was blinded for a moment.
"Back again?", instantly I reconsigned Ray's voice. It had a deep tone to it but it was quite seductive.
"God, can this sergal get anymore sexier?", I thought to myself.
Ray smiled and walked away from me, retreating to the back of the room and motioning towards a table with two chairs.
The room seemed very much like a cross between a laboratory and living quarters. The north portion of the room, where the semicircle structure of it ended to create stairs going downwards, was a long, black table with gold lacing and it had various science equipment such as test tubes and other apparitions on it.
The southern section, where I was standing, looked far more comfortable and homely. With a built-in fire in the black marble walls it created a nice addition to the warmth of the sun basking behind my neck.
"Heeelllooo? Hey, Harry. You're not brain dead, are you?", Ray's voice interrupted my trail of thought.
He chuckled, "Hah. You've still to wake up it seems. Well, it will take time adjusting to your new home.
'New home?' I contemplated on that for a while.
"Well, contemplate on it no longer. Last night, I said I can tell you everything you need to know. So, why don't you sit down and we'll iron things out?", Ray replied.
"Yes, okay.", I thought I was a bit stupid. Sometimes I don't listen to a word other people say.
I stroll over to Ray, smile and him, and take my seat opposite him.
I sit up straight, looking into Ray's purple eyes, ready to assail him with question after question.
"First off", I soon as I start speaking, Ray looks at me. "Why am I here?".
Ray sits there in silence for a couple of seconds, presumably forming an easy answer in his head. I don't think they'll be an easy answer, everything happens for a reason. And the reason for me being here could be something big...
"Well, simply put, you're here because you want to be here.", Ray replies.
I start to speak, but Ray silences me.
"The important thing is not to interrupt, else you disrupt my answer."
Fair enough, I thought. I had a bad habit of doing that.
"How you got here though... Well, there's not a simple answer for that. Its quite long, but I'll start from the ground up."
Ray stood up, deep in thought, occasionally pausing or looking at me.
"In this world, called Esix, there exists an energy known as Aura.", explained Ray.
I braced myself, knowing this was going to be a long explanation.
"Aura is a magical energy which is created by emotions. There exists a physical form but I'll get to that later."
Ray gets a glass of water from the sink slighter further away from the table, and hands me one.
He gulps the water down, and I do the same in turn. I suddenly feel a large earthquake in my belly.
"Ooh, someone's hungry.", Ray paused for thought.
"Hey, why don't I show you a trick?"
"Uhm... Sure.", I replied.
Ray clasped his hands together, excitement creeping in his face.
"Alright! Okay, so think of a food you really like!"
"Bacon."
"And eggs?", Ray replied with a wink.
"Yeah!", I wondered what he was going to do.
Ray did some sort of weird motion with his hands, and I felt a strange warping sensation around him.
He opened his eyes, anticipation dripping from his face.
Out of the blue, a plate of sausage, bacon and eggs appeared!
"You like?", Ray said as I dove into the English Breakfast.
"Oh man! This is perfect!", I stopped eating my food for a while, with a frown on my face.
"Wait, how did you get this?", I questioned.
"Well, that's what you can do with Aura. Its a magical energy that can be bent at will. I can think of something, and I can make it appear! With reasonable restrictions, of course. I can't summon a giant, for example. That would take a tremendous amount of Aura!", he exclaimed.
Taking pauses between my eating, I speak: "Wait, so you're saying that there's only so much you can do with it?"
Ray looked at me blankly, "Well of course!", he said. "If you want to something like a giant then that would take a large amount of emotional energy to take its form and... quite possible kill the caster weaving it together."
He continued, "Not everyone can use Aura, too. Not everyone can summon things out of the blue just like I did. In fact, I am the only one who has that power. The rest... Well, we can't just accept that risk."
I nodded nonchalantly, "Well, that's understandable, but you still haven't fully answered my question."
Ray nodded in understanding. "Yes, yes of course. There's quite a lot to talk about that I get side-tracked."
"You being here, it was because of your will, your emotional energy that brought you here. It formed into Aura, which I picked up on one of my science devices and I was genuinely shocked by how strong it was."
I am quite surprised at that fact, I didn't know my feelings could transport me into another world.
"Aah, feelings, this Aura that exists in everyone's body is powerful.", Ray explains, clearly using his mind-reading abilities to answer my questions before I speak out.
"You humans just don't know how to use it. You're too narrow-minded. Its just that you care more about what happens on the outside rather than the inside."
I was taken aback, Ray knew to be harsh at times. I guess he had to, with such kindness he's offering me.
"Human restrictions... We think ourselves superior, but we are clearly blind. We're acting entirely on what we think is good for us, rather than the world.", I mumble with shame.
Ray looked at me in shock. "So, that's how you humans really are? I always thought you are an intelligent race who is capable of achieving many things".
My voice lightens up, "Oh, don't get me wrong, we are. But, we are clouded by our laws and justification. We're pretty corrupt too. We're not as good as you think we are."
Ray seemed quite surprised that I would speak in such a negative way about my race, "Wouldn't you rather speak with pride? Its clear that you humans have achieved more than we ever have done so far.
To be honest, that's also part of the reason I didn't reject you in the Void. I wanted to see what your race was like, and what knowledge you have to offer us." He turns to me, smiling. I smile in turn, his friendliness has reappeared.
"So, now that that's out of the way, let's take a tour of the city shall we?"
Ray beckoned to me. I walked towards him, feeling quite excited to see what its like outside, how the people are different and how society functions.
It will be interesting to say the least.
And onwards I go, guided by the person I trusted most. The one who helped me when I got here, and who held back nothing when revealing things to me. He is deserving of my trust.
