Coming Out Of Totality
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
I was fortunate to be both in the path of totality and have only high level cirrus clouds today. When totality started, it was literally like someone flipped a switch. We had about 3-1/2 minutes of totality before they flicked the switch again, and the Sun returned. This is a quick untouched photo at the moment when the Sun started to peak out from behind the Moon again.
The hard part of shooting totality was that I could not see anything int he camera with the ND100000 filter in place. I had to take it off and set it aside quickly just to find the Sun. I took about a dozen shots, but I spent much of my time looking around and enjoying the moment. As Joe,l the then editor of photography at National Geographic once commented in his series on photography, sometimes you just have stop taking photos and to pet the whale's tongue. (Actual thing you can do in the Baja California area.)
