Feyrahl - The King (SF), Caldif the Sage King, Emperor of Feyrahl
The current Emperor of the Feyrahlian Empire is known as The Sage King Caldif the Second. He is a massive bull Elephant standing just over 8'2" (approximately 2.5 meters) and weighing in at just under 730 lbs (just over 330kg); based on appearance and general bearing, age-wise, he would appear to be somewhere in his mid-to-late 30s. Even with his imposing stature, Caldif is not particularly inclined physically and the majority of his weight is padding rather than muscle, but it would be a mistake to call him 'fat'. The Emperor does live a largely sedentary lifestyle and, other than basic calisthenics and required personal defense training, Caldif has never been particularly interested in physical pursuits.
Caldif has the usual gray-colored-hide of an Earth Elephant and has sparse, coarse light tawny-brown hair on his body, which is much more prominent at the end of his tail, in his arm pits, and a trailing from his belly-button to his groin. The most striking trait of the otherwise muted-coloration of the Emperor are his honey-colored eyes. He normally wears loose, free flowing clothing; in court that includes silk body-wraps or robes; in travel he sticks with tunics or vests and either baggy cotton pants or a sarong; when studying alone he tends to favor robes, or a simple, long bolt of cloth wrapped around himself like a toga. He has a combination of tattoos and clean-finely-carved ritualistic scars on most of his chest and both biceps, each of which hold great meaning to him.
The Emperor is the eldest of three siblings; his brother Aviin appears to be approximately the same age but is many years Caldif's junior, and their sister Chaya is twice the age difference between the males younger than Aviin. Aviin is wed and he has a child with his wife-- the presumed heir apparent to the Empire since Caldif has no children of his own. None of Caldif's family will make a showing in the story as Aviin is in the northern provinces on a diplomatic meeting and Chaya has undertaken a mission of compassion in the Eastern Isles.
An incredibly well-learned Emperor Caldif spends most of his days in the Capitol Library and at the University, preferring to focus his time on scholarly pursuits, which he has done ever since he was young. He relies heavily on his brother and advisors to help with the day-to-day activities of running the Empire, as well as the numerous vassals who each govern their respective kingdoms. With the signs of "The Great Calamity" growing ever closer, Caldif feels that his best contribution to the Empire is to attempt to find a way to either prevent it, or else to prepare for it and mitigate the possible damage fated to be coming.
Although all Emperors are known to be incredibly powerful with their Elemental Affinity, Caldif has become well known in his generation as he has an affinity for Spirit Magic, familiar with both Holy and Transmutation Magic. Further, being well-versed in the study of magic as well as the implementation, he is also capable of using basic spells of Fire (Ember), Water (Flow), Earth (Stone), and Air (Zephyr) magic. His extensive knowledge of scholastic and applied knowledge, along with his grand capacity to dabble in all forms of magic have earned him the title The Sage King, and he is well regarded by commoners, nobility, and vassals.
Caldif is unmarried himself, and eschews female companionship, having no mistresses or concubines as he is highly warrry about interfering with the line of succession. Although it is not widely known, Caldif has, in fact, never even had sex. It isn't as though he doesn't desire physical intimacy, he has always just focused on learning as much about everything that he can to better the lives of his people and preventing a prophecized disaster from destroying his empire. That being said, if he found the right person, he would definitely enjoy some 'hands on' learning.
As far as a potential love interest, Caldif will be a hard nut to crack and moving too quickly with him will either result in flirting going over-his-head or otherwise driving him away. Slow-and-steady attention, taking an interest in his pursuits, and letting a professional respect followed by friendship blossom before seeking anything beyond platonic will be a stiff requirement, as will passing on perverted opportunities or particularly touchy-feely interactions. That being said, however, a potential love interest should NOT expect the Elephant to make the first move; once things get started he might be raring to go, but he won't likely initiate, making "timing it right" a difficult prospect. Consider what he says as much as what he does with regard to the MC.
Caldif will not interact with Mac if he actively dislikes him.
Caldif will refer to Mac as a subject or vassal if he doesn't like him.
Caldif will respond to Mac as "Sir" if he is only willing to put up with him.
Caldif will respond to Mac as "Millman" if he tolerates him.
Caldif will respond to Mac as "Mr. Millman" if he views him neutrally.
If Caldif regards Mac positively he will refer to him as "Good/Gentle/Honorable Mr. Millman".
Caldif will respond to Mac as "MacKenzie" if he appreciates him.
Caldif will call Mac "Mac" and occasionally "my friend" if he likes him.
Caldif will refer to Mac as "Cousin" if he regards him affectionately.
If Caldif sees Mac as a potential lover, he will refer to him as "Darling".
Feyrahl - The King (FA), Baldwin the Meek, Emperor of Feyrahl
The current Emperor of the Feyrahlian Empire is known as Baldwin the Meek-- definitely not the most imposing name for a Bat who had not originally been in line for the throne. Baldwin is not particularly imposing for a Feyrahlian, standing at just under 5'9" (175 cm) and his thin frame means he comes in under 150 lbs (about 67.5kg). Assessing the age of a Feyrahlian isn't particularly easy but a Human would probably gauge the Bat to be in his mid-40s. Despite his thin build, Baldwin is still fit and his body still maintains a decent athletic definition; even though he is relatively passive socially, the Bat does regularly train with his guards in case he should ever have need of combat prowess, and he can do reasonably well when it come to self defense-- something his wife requires of him since she says anything else would make him nothing but prey.
Baldwin has a rich, coffee-with-cream brown fur which fades into a gold around the top of his shoulders, neck, and onto his head; his eyes are nearly the same color as the fur atop his head, which makes quite a striking gaze when peering out from the darker brown of his face; some of his detractors say that's really the only striking things about him. The King prefers simple clothing with muted colors, favoring attention that passes him by except for when it is required as part of his role; his advisors and wife usually let him get away with simple tunics and breeches, but, during events, he wears the usual courtly regalia and a large golden crown. When on trips, he is usually talked into a traveling crown and royal cloak. The Emperor has two small silver loop earrings-- one in each ear to celebrate his two children.
Although Baldwin was once the youngest of five siblings (he had two brothers and three sisters), both of his brothers and two of his sisters met tragic ends, leaving him the younger of a pair; his sister, Audrey was married to a northern lord to improve diplomatic relations shortly before Baldwin became Emperor (his father didn't have any trust in him to maintain diplomatic ties without it). Before the death of his father some twenty fives years past, Baldwin was also wed to a princess of the Eastern Isles in order to solidify their allegiance, but it has not been quite as successful.
Baldwin's wife, Hilda, is often by his side and has a much more firm hand and strong will; most of the court agrees that she tends to the role of Emperor better than he, but the Empire is not willing to listen to her, especially not since the uneasy trouble with the Eastern Islands, her home province. The two Bats have been married for a quarter century but have only been living together for about a decade and have two children: a boy named Archibald (after Baldwin's deceased eldest brother) and a girl named Gertrude (after Hilda's elder sister).
Although Baldwin has little-to-no knack for statecraft, diplomacy, politics, rulership, leadership, military tactics, or any other number of talents expected of an Emperor, he'd always had an interest in civil projects. When he was distant in the line of succession he spent his days learning about civil engineering, city design, and logistics. Baldwin had always wanted to contribute to the Empire and he had focused on becoming a valued advisor for either brother-- to this day he still thinks he'd make a better advisor than Emperor and often defers to his wife and/or council on most topics. Still, as a prodigy of design and construction, Baldwin has, nevertheless funded and guided numerous civil projects over his time as Emperor and has made his kingdom (and some neighboring vassals) all the better for it.
Neither a flash nor particularly accomplished spell caster, Baldwin has never been particularly proud of nor ashamed of his Air Affinity. While he is skilled with both Zephyr and Movement magics, he utilizes the latter more than the former, granting him the power to fly easily, which is his preferred method of travel-- especially because he tends to take up space on the roof of his castle's highest tower when he wants to spend time alone (usually at least once a day). By necessity, Baldwin was forced to gain some capacity with Water Magic, specifically so he could learn some of the defensive capacity of Ice aspect, and also to help round out his spells with some basic Illusion magic.
As a married man, Baldwin is the weaker of the two wills; his wife provides firm guidance to make sure that the Empire will be able to stay afloat despite the rumors which grow in volume and frequency that the Eastern Isles are seeking to secede. The fact that the lands that house the potential uprising are ruled by Hilda's brother make the situation complicated... not to mention the arrival of the Main Character, a Human like those of legend. Things could get very awkward if Kenzie catches the Emperor's eye and begins to pull him away from the 'gentle guidance' of his wife's iron-grip.
As far as a potential love interest, Baldwin is not difficult to befriend so long as one takes into account that he is an introvert; he doesn't do big, flash displays and does not respond favorably to them either. The obvious problem is the fact that he is married and his wife holds a lot of the power in the Kingdom-- he also tends to listen to her, so if she feels that her husband is suffering from a wandering eye she will not likely be well disposed toward the object of his affection. As far as relationship growth, Baldwin responds well to quiet companionship, small-but-meaningful displays of favor/regard and subtle-but-direct encouragement-- something he lacks greatly. As a timid Bat used to others taking the lead, Baldwin will almost certainly wait for Kenzie to make the first move, but there are situations depending on the progression of the story where he might end up being surprising by taking the initiative... just don't count on it.
Baldwin will not interact with Kenzie if he actively dislikes her.
Baldwin will get someone else to interact with Kenzie on his behalf if he doesn't like her.
Baldwin will respond to Kenzie by being overtly polite if he only puts up with her.
Baldwin will respond to Kenzie as "Ma'am" without using her name if he only tolerates her.
Baldwin will respond to Kenzie by calling her "Ms. Fuller" if he considers her neutrally.
Baldwin will call Kenzie "Lady MacKenzie" if he regards her positively.
Baldwin will finally start calling MacKenzie "Lady Kenzie" once he appreciates her.
If Baldwin likes Kenzie he will drop the honorific and just call her "Kenzie"-- this will likely get his wife's attention if something else hasn't.
Baldwin starts regarding Kenzie affectionately he will start adding more (polite) physical contact to their interactions.
Should Baldwin see Kenzie as a potential lover he may start referring to her as "Mola" (the Feyrahlian word for "Banana"). This may also be when he might make a move.
The stories will be posted on both sites though, so technically both will have both... just voting will take place on the respective sites.
