Masika, the Vostii (SFW)
Meet Masika, the Vostii of the cat-kin who belongs to Seran Bailey, a young and passionate nobleman. Masika was raised and trained in the "Temple of the Companions," a private company run by the Bennett family.
The "Companions" as they're colloquially called, are raised from birth in a closed and controlled environment, a luxurious temple-like compound. Within these compounds, they're given the best food and medical care, taught the human's language (as the simpler minds of the beast folk can only ever learn one), are trained in the arts of dance and music, are made to memorize poetry and songs, and, in their early adulthood, are given lectures on the arts of carnal pleasure.
Once they come of age and are ready to take mates, they're sold to the wealthiest inhabitants of Morveria to serve as their lifelong concubines. Slavery is widespread in Morveria, and it's oftentimes beneficial to the beast folk, who respond well to the simple hierarchical structure of slave and master. In the case of Companions, such as Masika, who grew up expecting to belong to a mate of high status, it's an honor to have a master. Even for the lower classes, this is true, as the beast folk can be quite tribal by their very nature. So common are the beast folk, who vastly outnumber humanity, that many humans are not cruel to them, and, as in Masika's case, strong and even potent bonds form. Bonds that transcend the understanding of the mind, in places where only the heart dwells...
