Kalari never dreamed of sailing the Mjau desert sands. Unfortunately, dreams don't pay for much, and Kali needs some way to earn a living. With a weird eye and unsettling stare, there aren't many jobs open to a cat like her.

After spending most of her life on ships, Kali has finally started her apprenticeship proper to join the Sandstalker's crew and earn her keep. But what she expects to be an ordinary day job might turn out to be something more, when one of the other apprentices takes an interest in her, despite her strange eye.

Will the different lives they lead keep them apart? Or will their casual seafaring flings become something more?
