LDRs can be difficult. Zephy and I knew what we signed up for, when he asked and I said yes. I said no the first time, but I decided to give us a chance this time.
Every second we spend together is precious. Each day we live together, the timer counts down to another painful farewell. Every time we met, I always had a schedule of couple activities to do... it was hard to finally settle down to just relax in each other's presence. Singapore's legal system and culture is not kind to anything outside of a 'healthy, heterosexual marraige'**. I live comfortably, but not enough to afford a house for us at this stage in life.
It's not just the farewell that hurts. It's also the afterwards - when I laugh together with my furry friends, but he's not beside me. When I wake up, but he's not next to me, under the warm covers. All I can look forward to is the next time we come together, but it will always come with an impending farewell.
