[i]Endless hours of mindless cartoons clamored in the background, the TV’s racket having faded away into distant droning. On opposite ends of the couch lay Kazan and Deklan, their heads propped up by the armrests as they lazily slept the afternoon away. Scattered around them were empty bags of chips and plastic containers that were once filled to the brim with pastries and other sugary goodies. Both clutched onto a spoon in one paw and an empty tub of ice cream in the other. Drool slowly trickled down their sticky, crumb-littered muzzles. It’d been a long day for the pups: waking up at noon, eating, playing video games, eating some more, watching TV, and… even more eating.

It was only three days into their spring break, but they had no trouble settling into this new routine as they’d already succeeded in adding a few extra pounds to their tremendously overweight frames. Their cheeks puffed out to the size of golf balls and gave the impression there was always food in them, which was a reasonable assumption; in their current posture, part of their vision would even be obscured if their eyes weren’t already closed. Their meaty arms, draped with a generous layer of fat, rested heavily atop their plush domelike bellies; the soft mounds of flesh and fur were gently squished, just enough for their doughy chests to compress against their chins and hide their stocky necks. Their oversized t-shirts were unable to conceal the fluffy balls of flab as large tufts of fur peeped out from underneath and rolled over the taught waistbands of the straining pajamas that clung desperately to their swollen thighs like a second skin. Between them, their thick stumpy legs were strewn on top of each other and fought for space, dull claws idly nudging into the other’s engorged middle. It was just another day in the brothers’ vacation.[/i]
