Carmelita and I are in her office, I'm giving her a hand with some filing and paper work, even getting her coffee if she needs it... so basically I'm her secretary but I don't mind as I start to learn a few things about the department and it's layout, not to mention people are starting to stare at me less and less which is welcomed. As the day goes on I notice Carmelita becoming more and more focused on her cases... far more so then earlier before, shuffling to another case and back, I get she's an officer of Interpol but she's going from one case to the second, back to the first, to a third and back to the first, it seems kind of strange actually.

Carmelita says "Adam, can you please grab the blue file in the center filing cabinet? It's in the middle tray."

I say "Of course." with a light smile.

I get the folder, I hand it to her, she takes it, she opens it as I walk away and I hear her let out a small sigh which does catch my attention, but I discard it as I look to my suit.

Carmelita says "Adam, can you help me examine this?"

I look to her confused and I say "Am I allowed to?" with curiosity.

Carmelita looks to me and she says "Technically no, but I want another set of eyes."

I say "Okay.", I go over and I begin to look over the documents with her.

A decent amount of the documents in the blue folder seem old and yellowing, the name I keep seeing over and over again is "Sly Cooper" who seems to be a thief by the looks of it, some of the details are bare but most give illustration of heists and small robberies, with him being a raccoon with blue cloths and wielding a type of cane, with dates that span a few years at most.

Carmelita says "Does anything catch your attention?"

I say "Not really, what am I looking for exactly?" as I look to her curiously.

Carmelita says "Location and dates."

I look back to the documents, even getting a pen and some paper and I begin to do a full list, first writing the date then the location of the date, it was crazy seeing the locations were around the globe, from Paris to the States to even some more remote locations, but there is no real pattern that I can find, the only real thing that linked them was that a precious item or multiple items were stolen.

Carmelita says "Anything?" as she looks to me curiously.

I lightly shake my head and I say "No, there isn't a pattern to both save for a missing item of some description."

Carmelita sighs and she says "I see, I've looked over that numerous times and I couldn't find anything either."

I look at her confused as I give her the documents and my sheet of notes, I see documents in front of her, most are yellowing pages as well and I say "Is there anything else I can try to help you with?" unsure if I could.

Carmelita says "You can take a break, if I need anything I'll let you know." with a light smile.

I nod to her, I look to my suit as I step towards it, my gaze scans the suit piece by piece, my gaze soon goes outside, the sky against Paris is quite a sight, down below are parked police cruisers with a fire escape. My eyes look around in pure boredom, a reflected light catches my eye from the top of one of the buildings, I look to see a very vague shape where it's coming from, but it quickly disappears from view, I shrug as I figure it's nothing bit kids messing around. I turn to look at Carmelita, she's shuffling papers around and she looks to be frustrated, I look to her with concern, during the past few days she's been calm from what I've seen, but this case has her greatly on edge.

I move to lay on the couch as I think 'Whoever this 'Sly' person is, he must be really good if he's doing this to Carmelita in her search.'

The phone rings, I hear Carmelita answer it as I look to the ceiling and after a few words, she hangs up.

Carmelita says "Adam, your visa is in." with a light smile.

I get up as I say "Cool." with a light smile.

Carmelita says "Need a hand with the front desk?"

I say "I should be okay, thanks though." with a light smile smile, which earns a nod from her and she goes back to work.

I leave her office and I head to the front desk, I sign for the paperwork, I get my new i.d. and visa papers with a note from the french president saying I'll get a proper i.d., passport and full citizenship in a few weeks given my circumstances which does earn a light smile from me. I go to leave but I hear some grunts which catches my attention, an officer is bringing in a female mouse, her fur is a light lavender, her hair is long and blonde and done up in a ponytail, brown eyes and she's wearing oval glasses, a red bandana in her hair, a yellow jumpsuit, black gloves, shoes and belt and her left ear has a gold earring with her hands done up in hand cuffs.

I shrug as I put my i.d. in my wallet which I put in my pocket and I go to walk away, before I fully take a single step I hear "Hey, you!" in a womans voice, I look to see the mouse looking at me with a curious stare.

The officer says "Keep it moving!" as he begins to try to move with her but her eyes stay locked on me.

The two get to the front desk, I go to move away again but I hear her clear her throat, clearly I have her attention.

The officer says "Sorry sir, she's a bit of a handful." looking apologetic.

I say "It's not a problem." with a light smile, my attention goes to the mouse who's looking at me in an examining way, similar to how Carmelita looked at me before I let her feel my hand and I say "May I help you?" with a polite smile.

The mouse says "Maybe, you're all over the news." with a curious smile.

The officer says "I don't think he wants to answer you, he's still adjusting."

I say "It's okay officer, I can answer some questions if she wants, I don't bite."

The officer says "Very well, I guess I can locate a room..."

I say "We can answer them here officer!" earning everyones attention as I cross my arms, I say "I'm well aware people are curious about me, I might as well set a few things straight.", I look to the mouse, I extend my hand and I say "Anyway pardon my manners, my name is Adam, what's yours ma'am?!" with a smile.

The mouse says "A gentleman?" with a smile, she takes my hand and she says "I'm Penelope." as she shakes it.

I stop shaking her hand and I say "What do you want to know?"

Penelope says "Well, I'm curious about your species. You seem to have male and female individuals so there's no sense in asking those questions. What kind of diet do you have? What Tech level are at?" with her smile beaming.

I say "Well, we humans are omnivores so we have a wide range of foods we can eat. In terms of tech we are actually on the same level as yours."

Penelope puts on a surprised look and she says "Really? Because your craft seems to be very advanced because of what happened."

I say "I don't know how it works completely, I didn't build the prototype, the warp system was a prototype system meant for distance since it's an orbital dropship, but something malfunctioned. Again I don't know the details."

Penelope says "And the suit?"

I say "The suit is actually a suit from a video game, the suit is O.D.S.T. armor or Orbital Drop Shock Trooper armor, whether or not it's the real deal or not is still up in the air, it's basically just a composite suit of armor with tactical gear and some air reserves for vacuums and underwater if need be. Think of it kind of like swat gear but better." with a light smile.

Penelope says "So, you're military?"

I say "Nope." with a light smile.

Penelope says "Law enforcement?" with a shrug.

I say "No, I'm just a civilian." keeping my smile.

This catches everyone off guard as they look to me in awe.

I say "They wanted to prove that a civilian can use the prototype effectively without any training." as I scratch the back of my head sheepishly with a nervous chuckle.

Penelope says "How did you end up warping?"

I say "To sum it up, I was being an idiot. Curiosity almost got me killed that day, I more or less got lucky. If the thing didn't have manual controls I doubt I'd be alive right now.", I look to the clock and I say "Sorry but I have to..."

I hear "Hey Adam?!" it's Carmalita.

I turn to face her and I see she's carrying a black bullet-resistant vest and I say "Yes?" with a curious look.

Carmelita says "Here, put this on." as she gives me the vest and and she says "I've got a lead and I want you to come with me."

I say "Okay, just give me a second." as begin to put the vest on.

Carmelita looks to the person behind the desk and she says "Give him his weapon back just in case."

The desk clerk says "But ma'am..."

Carmelita says "If something happens, he'll need to defend himself.", she looks to me and she says "Do you know how to shoot a gun?" as I finish getting the vest in order.

I say "I know how to load and cock, but as far as aiming and shooting I've never done it, I've only seen videos on the internet."

Carmelita sighs, she gets my m1911 with it's one magazine, she hands both to me, I aim the gun at the floor as I load and cock the gun before holstering it.

Carmelita says "Again just a safety precaution, you can't be too careful."

Penelope says "Yeah, you would know inspector." with a smirk.

Carmelita lightly glares at Penelope and she says "Let's go Adam." as she walks away.

I lightly glance between the two ladies before following the vixen to her red car and we begin to drive off. I look to the sky, barely any clouds as the car goes down the roads, I glance to my gun as I feel my heart race, if we get into trouble I doubt I could really be much of any help.

Carmelita says "You're being awfully quiet Adam. Is everything okay? That criminal didn't do anything to you did she?" as she glances to me.

I say "No, she didn't. Just hoping we don't run into trouble, I doubt I can do much in a fight."

Carmelita says "I don't think we will, just stick with me and you'll be fine."

I glance down at the vest, I look to Carmelita and I say "Where are we going?"

Carmelita says "There's a location that could've been a criminal safe house, you're my back up in case things get rough."

I say "But I've never shot a gun before and I only have seven bullets."

Carmelita says "I know, but like I said I doubt we'll run into trouble.", she takes a quick glance at me with a light smile and she says "And don't worry, I'll see about you getting some training in, if anything happens I want you to be able to defend yourself."

I say "I hear ya.", a question comes to mind and I say "What kind of gun do you use?"

Carmelita says "It's called a shock pistol, it's been my weapon of choice for a few years and typically stuns anyone it hits given it's charge and given it's construction I don't have to carry bullets for it, plus it has different voltages and modes depending on what I need to do, but most of the time I have it on standard modes."

I say "It kind of reminds me of a 1960's ray gun." with a light smile.

Carmelita lightly chuckles and she says "Yeah, I've heard other people say that and I do agree, it looks like something from a sci-fi movie or a cartoon."

The radio begins to chatter, I can't understand it as it's in french, Carmelita answers the radio in french, she hangs it up, she turns on the cars lights and sirens and begins to speed up.

I say "What's going on?" with a curious look.

Carmelita says "We've got a robbery in progress, the goons are heavily armed so they're calling all available units in the immediate area." with a determined look.

Distant gunfire can be heard as we draw closer, earning my nerves getting tighter.

Carmelita parks the car, she looks to me and she says "Come with me!"

The both of us leave the car and head towards the gunfire as she draws her shock pistol, what looks to be a bank can be seen and police vehicles have it surrounded with evidence of gunfire being too apparent.

Carmelita looks to me, she pulls out a gold pin in the shape of a strip and she says "Put this on and stay here! Keep your weapon ready in case we need you!"

I nod as I take the pin, Carmelita runs over to the scene, I put the pin on my vest over my heart and I draw my pistol as I click the safety off while I observe the scene.

The whole thing is quite ominous as I look around, a light catches my attention, it looks to be coming from above the bank, I squint my eyes as I try to focus, the reflected light seems to focus on me, I quickly realize what it is, I duck into cover as a bullet fires and misses, a sniper.

I think 'Great, now I can't stick my head out with that sniper!'

I hear weapons fire take the air which causes me to jerk a little, I take some deep breaths, I slowly go to look around the corner, a bullet hits causing me to quickly get back into cover. I take some more breaths as I feel my heart race, I calm down as I think of what I could do to help.

I hear "Armored truck!" from another officer.

I gulp as I hear more weapons fire, I take a quick look to see this huge armored truck slowly picking up speed, I quickly glance around, I see a metal box of fireworks, I grab the box of fireworks, I see the truck coming my way, I get ready to run as it gets closer and closer.

I think 'I have no idea if this'll work or not, but what the heck, it's worth a shot I guess.'

The truck closes in, I run out as I hear the snipers fire, I throw the fireworks which crashes on top of the hood as I dive into cover, I aim my gun and fire a few shots into the box of fireworks, causing the box to detonate and explode, the truck steers and crashes into a car as it comes to a stop.

I think 'I did it! I DID...'

Suddly the back doors open, revealing two guys with mp5 submachine guns, I duck behind a car as they fire in my direction, I ready my hand gun with only four shots left, I hear the smg's stop, I quickly spring up as I fire off three shots, the first striking the left door, the second striking one gunmen in the right knee and the third striking the second in the right shoulder, the two jolt from the shots and fall onto the road, I keep my gun up as I scan the truck, the door opens, another gunmen jumps out with a machine pistol, I fire off my last shot which misses, I gulp as I duck down, my ammunition now spent, I eject the pistols empty magazine, I hear bullets striking the car.

I think 'This isn't good!" as I shake.

I hear the bullets stop, I hear clicking sounds, I chance it bolt around the car, I charge into him as he loads his machine pistol which looks to be a mac-10, I ram into him with my shoulder which causes him to drop the gun and magazine as he falls, I quickly holster my pistol, I grab the mac-10, I quickly load and cock it as I aim it at the gunman who raises his hands. I hear what sounds like a shotgun, I look behind me to see a fourth gunman aiming what looks to be a mossberg shotgun at me, suddenly he looks like he's being electrocuted, he falls to the ground with a groan and Carmelita jumps down from the top of the truck.

Carmelita looks to me and she says "I thought I told you to stay put!"

I say "You did, sorry that I disobeyed your order but I wanted to try to help out if I could." and I hold the mac-10 out for her to take.

Carmelita glances at the machine pistol, she takes it and she says "Don't be so reckless! That way of thinking will get you killed, I wanted you to stay put for your safety and you were lucky that you did get hit much less killed!" with her looking frustrated.

I look down in shame, the last thing I wanted to do was make her mad.

I hear her sigh and I hear her say "But I'm glad you're alright." as I look to her with her face looking a little less steamed.

More police units come as the gunmen are taken into custody, even the sniper was caught in a failed escape. The fireworks didn't really do any damage to the truck but they worked in the sense I got it to stop, Carmelita watched me as I'm being interviewed to give an eye witness report. Carmelita looks to be chatting with some of the other officers as I finish giving my report, I sigh as I look at my empty pistol, it's purpose having been served.

Carmelita says "Adam, toss me your side arm."

I nod to her and I toss her the empty gun to which she catches it.

I hear some officer chuckling as they speak in french, I glance to see them looking at me, I look back to Carmelita's group as I see some officers inquiring with her. Carmelita waves me over, I step towards the group and I stop just shy of them.

Carmelita says "Well Adam, you surprised all of us, none of us expected you to be so creative.", she glances to the m1911 momentarily, she says "You were reckless and you endangered yourself without really thinking but you did catch the bad guys, which is why I think I have an idea. Considering that you handled it as well as you did, how would you like to be part of Interpol?" with a slight smile.

I look at her like she's kidding, but a quick look at her eyes tells me she's serious.

Carmelita says "I was going to give you some firearms training, but rather then just doing that, I can take you on as an officer on the job training. You show a lot of potential and I think with the right guidance you can do very well as an officer of the law.", she holds my pistol out and she says "What do you think... constable?" keeping her smile.

I think for a quick second, I say "Inspector..." as I grab my gun and I say "It would a pleasure, I accept." with a light smile.

Carmelita nods with a smile as she let's go of my gun and I holster it.

The vixen says "We'll have to wait for your citizenship to kick in before enlisting you, but we can get a head start on your training at least." with a light smile.

I nod, I hear something fall and clang onto the ground, I look to see one of the thugs droped something, I tilt my head as I move towards it, I kneel, I pick it up, it looks to be a type of smoke grenade that's a greenish yellow, I turn it around to see an emblem of what looks to be a skunk wearing a gas mask.

Carmelita says "Which'ya got there Adam?"

I stand up, I go to her and I say "Some kind of grenade by the looks of it." as I had it to her.

Carmelita takes the grenade, she begins to examine it she puts on a serious looking face as the symbol catches her sight, she looks to me and she says "Come with me!" as she begins to walk.

I go to walk beside her and I say "Is everything alright?"

Carmelita says "To tell you the truth... I'm not sure."
