Soldat Meltfire - Vixy
Funny how when you finally start to really work at some fan-art ideas you've had in mind for over a decade, you're unsure as just how to use right words to express just what it is you're doing.
I guess I'll simply start by saying that while there have been many influences in what I do far as art goes and there will still be in some way, shape and forum, not to mention artists whom are a motivation, one stand out among them has been Chalo and well, like many I found an interest in his characters, along with in due time Currans, Soulkat's and ID Fox's.
Like many, I've been following Las Lindas thru it's ups and downs, I've been hesitant outside of one instance, to say much because apart from feeling like until I can make stories worth a damn that work out, I feel I'm not in a position to be critical, energy I could use to be critical be it constructive criticism, could be used towards something else.
It isn't always that simple but ...well to explain more would be a longer ramble.
But anyway, along with my interest in said cast, there's also my long-standing borderline obsession with Ridge Racer. Borderline given I'm not too fanatical but the series has left an impact on me in more ways than one.
Plus, I'll need every instance of trying to practice and get better at something.
I'm still far from what I feel satisfactory with drawing humans/anthros, but I'm taking what I can get for now. There's a billion flaws with how Vixy was drawn but I can only keep trying.
I figured given this is fan-art, I may as well go full on reference since that's a very similar stance used by one of the protagonists from R:Racing Evolution, though I bothered to try and make the helmet be workable somewhat, along with drawing an Hans- device to go with it.
While I was okay with the basic drawing of the Meltfire, I still see a need for improvement, especially with the wheels, but also with colors. It could be me but I feel I need more time in designing patterns that are worth a damn. I went through trial and error but I don't quite feel too satisfied with this one.
Then again I could be trying to aim too high again, this is far from done and I'm hoping the final product will be...better. We'll see.
Till then, enjoy.
