Messy portrait

Just doing some experiments at painting, I use to be very structured, so I tried something more impulsive and messy. I think it is a nice style, but more useful for concept art and quick portraits.

Honestly, there are times when I prefer this style of artwork to the pieces that have been smoothed and refined under fifty layers in Photoshop. I like how [i]raw[/i] this feels. The visible brush/pencil strokes give the work a kind of energy that feels almost kinetic, as if it were created in a passionate burst of movement where the speed and motion of the artist's hand is recorded right there in the image.

Definitely wouldn't mind seeing more pieces like this uploaded in the future.
