[center] Reptiles will often bask in sunlight to warm themselves before a cold, long night.
This is especially true in the forest, where one must take every opportunity to absorb the sun's rays.
What is less known is that while basking in the sun, forest reptiles most enjoy warming their sensitive feet in order to protect them against the cold and moist forest floor...
If you happen to notice this activity during your forays into the woods, it's probably best to not disturb them... one never exactly knows to what kind of creature those upraised paws might belong!
