KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

sorry it is late but here it is. thank you of the wilds for the inspiration for this story.

“I am not drinking that stuff again." The emerald green dragon muttered under his breath, as he looked down into a bucket filled with water, with a massive amount of herbs mixed into it.

“You," Kirra said as she pointed at the dragon that sat on his hunches before her, “most certainly are. It's the only way that your injuries are going to heal properly."

“There is no way you can make me drink it"

“Is there not, you have said the same for the last week." said Kirra in a playful tone.

“My injuries will heal just fine without that stinking water," he said with a smug growing on his face. “No matter how much I drink."

“I, beg to differ," the dragons eyes narrowed on the red haired woman standing in front of him with an unreadable expression plastered on her face. Soon the dragon's eyes started to get wider as she shifted her gaze towards the dragon's hind legs, but a second later she then moved her foot closer to dragon's rear.

“Truce, truce. Fine you win, I'll drink the dam stuff, just leave my balls alone for havens sake," he said as he quickly pushed his snout in to the bucket and started to drink it as fast as possible. However his plan on getting the horrible taste gone as fast as possible was slightly floored. He did not now that Kirra had put a different plant into the mix of herbs, this plant happened to have a strong after taste. “UUUURRR. What did you put in that stuff? UURR that is horrible".

Kirra, even though she had been looking after the dragon for a few years now, could not help but admire him. He was bigger than a full grown horse and completely green apart from the occasional black spot on his scaled body. Overall the thing that stood out for Kirra was his golden, copper gaze that never left his eyes.

She was brought back out of her thoughts by the sound of the dragon kicking the bucket across the room and out the door with a, THUMP! It bounced over the track and came to rest on the grass meadow the dragon clamed was his.

“What the…" A moment later Davan cautiously walks through the door with a startled and confused look on his face. “Is there a reason why I was almost hit with a bucket?" Davan half shouted at the dragon and Kirra.

“That is the worst thing I have drank since yesterday."

“Alvaranox," she screamed “did you just kick my bucket; that cost me a lot you know."

Oh, oh she only uses my name when she is angry, Alvaranox though as he slowly backed away from the red haired women. “NO," he quickly spat out and then started looking for someone to shift the blame to. “It, it…ur. It was…" Dam, he though as there was no one to blame but him.

“Your name is Alvaranox," Davan said with a surprised tone and a look to match.

Only then did it occur to Alv that Kirra had used his name in front of someone. Someone he did not know very well. He looked his gaze with Kirra as if trying to see though her, only to find her steering back at him with a look of anger, but also uncertainty, perhaps even worry in her eyes.

“Did you, just use my name," Alv said as he turned to face Kirra with blade thin eyes. “In front of him."

“S… sorry. I.. I didn't mean to say it. Sorry." Alvaranox could not help but feel a little less angry at Kirra, as he watched her stamper over her own words.

“Don't worry I won't use your name in front of anyone who doesn't already know it," Davan stated while putting his hands up as if to surrender to try and settle the two down, before he had a grumpy dragon on the lose causing more trouble that a group of drunken bandits could hope too.

“You better not," Alvaranox snapped at him but with a less angry tone.

“Unlike some," Davan said while looking at Kirra with an accusing stare, “I know the reason dragons don't give humans their names."

“How would you know that?" Kirra asked.

“Because, in the past, every time I asked Alv for his name he explained to me the whole thing as if he has never told me before," he stated as if Alvaranox was just about to tell him again just to see what he would do.

“What do you mean unlike some?" Alv asked.

“To put it... Simply! It's because she," Davan started while looking back and forth between Kirra and the dragon, as if to gauge their reaction. “She has already told half the village your name."

“WHAT, you better not have." he yelled at them. Alv snapped his head over to Kirra while muttering curses under his breath as he went to lay down on his pile of soft things that he use as his bed, but stopped just short of settling down. “Wait if she has been spending my name around like you say she has, how come you acted all surprised like you did?"

“Kirra, may have told me a few times but…" Davan began but was interrupted by.

“But WHAT, SPIT it out all ready." Alv shouted in a playful, yet still very angry voice. One which neither Kirra nor Davan could decipher what mood he was in

“I was getting there Alv, I never remembered your name as it is too hard to pronounce. Plus I know you don't like people knowing it."

“Well it never stop it from spreading, did it?" Alvaranox snapped playfully at them both. Before anyone could argue back he dropped down onto his side and closed his eyes, with an overly loud snort.

Kirra looked at the dragon with a pleading smile, “Sorry I thought you didn't mind people using your name."

“Well what's done. Is done." Alvaranox gave the best smile he could and looked towards the two humans in front. “But you are going to have to make it up to me thought."

“And, how would we do that Alv."

“We," Alv gave a rumbling laugh. “I am not going to punish Davan. It was you Kirra who was telling my name to all who you meet."

“Fine. Fine, what is it you want me to do." She said in a low sinful tone.

“I would like you to go into town, before it gets dark, and you will buy me some of that wine I like. Do get Davan some as well. I am sure he would like some too."

“Well… I am afraid I am on duty tonight."

“Is it not your job to look after me?"

“I am here to make sure that, does not happen to you again." pointing to the scar on the dragon's stomach, Alv gave a grunt and a silent whimper at being reminded of the wound that could have killed him. “And anyway is it not Kirra's job to look after you."

“Well of course it is her job. No one else will do it will they." He snorted at Davan.

“What about Nylah?" Kirra stated

“Well except Nylah…" the dragon trailed of. “Right, no going of topic." Alvaranox snorted while lay his head on a pillow. “I am sure you can take a night off from the thing called on duty and join the dragon for a drink."

“Well I suppose I could, but only this once and you will have to promise not to crush me when you fall over."

“I have never fallen over while I was drunk before and I will never do that." Alv said in a dismissive tone.

“The amount of times you have fallen over while drunk could match any, if not all the alcoholics in this village Alv" Kirra laughed. “The last time you got drunk you destroyed the pubs back garden. The only reason you didn't collapse the pub its self, is because you passed out." Kirra and Davan broke out in to laughter at the thought of Alv passed on the floor. Alv meanwhile did not know whether to laugh with them or not. In the end he just laid his head down with a soft grunt.

“Not funny Kirra. Not funny." Alv mumble before turning his head away in embarrassment as his snout became as red as Kirra's hair. “Just go and get the bear."

“I thought you wanted wine Alv." Kirra said over the giggles.

“Just get whatever will get me drunk and then more."

“Well this is going to be a fun night" Davan stated.

“And just before I go you now owe me a bucket dragon"

“Why, I am sure you get another," Alvaranox emphasised by pointing to the pile of buckets, in the corner of the room, that he use to drink from when it was too cold to go outside to pond or lake to drink. Most of the time he just drank from them because he could not be bothered to walk to the pond or troughs, which was only 15 feet away from his front door. “It could not have cost that much. It's just a dammed bucket" Alv frowned at the look Kirra was giving him.

“Actually! I had that bucket made especially for you, as you kept complaining about getting your snout stuck in those buckets!" as she started to argue with the dragon, her face started to turn a light shade of red.

“Don't you get reimbursed from the council for the things you buy for him?" Davan asked in a flat tone, while trying not to laugh from the angered look on Kirra's face.

“w-well ur"

“Ha, gone and stuck your foot in it now haven't you Kirra, trying to make me feel guilty about breaking you're bucket," the dragon said with a mischievous tone.

“I WILL STICK MY FOOT SOMEWHERE IN A MINUTE" Kirra shouted while advancing on the dragon and grabbing his ear. “You're lucky you are laying down lizard or I would kick you straight in the balls."

“You're getting good at the impression aren't you." Alv gave a toothy grin in her direction."

“I am." Kirra puffed out her chest with pride.

“You where faking that?" Davan asked with confusion as he started for the door, “Well, I will just be off then. Getting late and I think I'm going to need different clothes if I am to drink with a dragon." after that he walked out the door.

Kirra turned to the dragon with a smirk on her face. “I better be doing the same, however if you would like that wine you are going to promise not to keep braking the buckets. Got. It. Dragon."

Alvaranox, with a grunt and a heavy sigh. “Fine as you wish, I promise not too deliberately brake anything of yours In the future."

“That's the best I'm going to get I think" she said looking as she when to the door and looking back through the gap. “I will see you later then. Now till I get back I expect you to get some rest."

“Good day Kathlyn. And don't drink my wine" he snorted in his royal voice as she slipped out the door.

“As if anyone could drink as much as you" as Kirra's voice faded into the distance.

“Better go feed stupid fish before I start drinking." As the dragon lifted himself of the bedding and heading to the back door of his home. When he arrived at his fish, “lay of the food fish or I am going to get a bigger trough for you." Alv scooped in a paw full of grain and gave it to the fish. “There ya go." Walking back inside he lay down on his side and drifted off to sleep.
