Prince Alastair
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Alastair gazed out the window, his eyes fixed on the stormy ocean in the far distance. Despite the large raindrops striking the window, Alastair wished for nothing more than to be down by the shore. The idea was impractical, yes, but it would be far better than spending another moment in this party. Between seeing his father shamelessly boast and the endless one-sided conversation from the narrow-minded nobility, it was all he could do to keep the boredom and disdain from showing on his face. Now, at last, he'd finally managed to slip away from the others without them noticing.
As thunder growled and the cold rain continued to fall, Alastair found his thoughts returning to the prisoner in the dungeons. He grimaced, recalling his father's delight at the fact that his men had managed to bring one of the Me'Ria (one of the merpeople) back alive. Alastair had then been horrified to learn that his father intended to experiment on the poor creature, in order that he may find out what sort of weaknesses the Me'Ria might have.
A cold feeling settled over Alastair as he remembered the look of terror and desperation that the Merman had given him, before the glass case he was trapped in was wheeled away by the guards. No matter how hard he tried, Alastair could not forget that face.
Glancing over at his father again, Alastair was suddenly overcome by anger. It wasn't fair that he should commit such terrible acts, only to stand and smile at these stupid aristocratic fools while lying through his teeth to them. It was about time someone brought the rain on his parade.
And that, as Alastair left the ballroom, was exactly what he intended to do.
