Tod and Vixey really do care about each other. Tod might feel a little embarrassed that he ended up with an udder (and skunk tail but that's another story) but Vixey doesn't care about that. She likes him anyway.
Besides, she did say she wanted six kits and Tod would do anything to help take care of them.
