12 - The Edges
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Apply glue evenly to one of flaps of cover material, and fold it over the board. You want to get this fold as neat and close to the board as possible to avoid gaps. You can feel those when it's finished, drives me nuts. Repeat with the other sides, then put the boards and weights on again for a few hours to dry.
It's probably easier to start with the short sides, and put them under your weights for a while to set before doing the long edges.
Also, as you can see in the third photo above, I put some narrow (1/4" I think) pieces of board scrap under the hinges before putting the weights on to get a nice crease in the fold there.
Don't forget to put some wax paper between the cover and the boards. Don't want to accidentally glue the cover to something other than the book block.
