Chapter Five: Wheel of Fire, Part One
“Shit, Shit, Shit, Shit!” Finn didn’t know his day would start off with him having a mouth to rival all the sailors in the sea but he knew that ducking below a tree as bullets holes flew into the bark above him, he had a dammed good reason to do such. The shark listened for a second as the gunfire stopped.
“Another goddammed Riftwalker squad with army weapons again.” Finn cursed under his breath and then burned bark fell from the tree and onto the ground, another energy blast took aim and this time the shark jumped away. Landing and starting to run again, behind him the falling tree would distract the Riftwalkers at least.
Finn felt his entire body work with power as he crossed the forest, he needed an escape route. Some place to leave, the Riftwalkers might have been far behind him but the Kagens were a different story. They were right behind him; Finn knew that as a bush in front of him was set aflame.
Perhaps even more worrying, as the shark ran forward, he saw what appeared to be the wide open blue sky. A massive cliff overlooking the mountains of Lake Tahoe, nice for pictures but in general bad for him. Finn took a moment to think and charged up electricity in his body, an aura of yellow charging up around him and a blue spark of electricity arcing around.
Thunder between his fingers crackled with power as he turned around and put his foot on the edge of the cliff. It would be a ride, so grabbing behind him he raised up his hood and zippered his jacket. The sun beat down on him but as the three Kagens approached slowly at the cliff, Finn knew that options weren’t something he had much of.
But still Finn kept his mind clear, rash choices were unavoidable in times like this but the shark still could try his best to keep himself from doing stupid things such as straight up shocking the Kagens. And Finn kept that idea in mind as he turned back and looked down at the forest under him, a tiny glint catching his eye.
“So then Outsider looks like it is the end of the line, so you can either die here and we get the reward or you can lead us to Bright and we get a reward, either way I would say I am happy.” The lead Riftwalker, a dragon said, to his side a wolf and a shark. Both of the two lackeys held their hands up in the air and formed balls of energy, heat radiating from them and onto the shark.
“Sorry boys but I have things to do.” Finn spoke.
And then Finn heard a noise, the Kagens were filled with shock as bullets traced right by then, embedding into the tree. Finn smiled at them and turned around, jumping up into the air and letting the power grab his body as he flashed out of existence.
The Kagens ran over to the cliff, looking down for a body or some sort of damage on the rock cliffs below but there was none. To their eyes the Outsider simply just disappeared when he disappeared below the rock. And for all Finn wanted them to know that was true as well.
…
“Okay guys, the Kagens had a lot of stuff in here and I think Iren said she saw an armory lock somewhere in this base.” Isaac walked around as he looked at the mildew stained walls. Adjusting his jacket and his jeans, Isaac still found it hard adjusting to his new outfit but he would live on.
Bright scanned through the items remained by the Kagens, being one he would know what was dangerous and what was useless to them. And scanning a room, Bright found a lot of useless.
“Okay this is a bit redundant, it’s not like the Kagens had to run away when Elijah came running back. They could have packed up everything important and then moved to a new base.” Ross added, the base was mostly in one piece. Everything said this was a move made when the Riftwalkers sent the warning that was Elijah.
“He is not wrong but there could be still computers that have data on them or energy traces and maybe a secret wall that everyone forgot about.” Bright turned and smiled as he put his hands on the seemingly blank mildew stained wall.
“What did you find?” Ross pondered as he watched the shark. Bright smiled and blue glow leaked out from his hand. Bright’s body and red armor shook as the concussion blast ranged out and took down the wall, a single room inside and a single beam of sunlight coming down.
The dragon took a step forward, his wings folding onto his camo jacket as he extended his arm into a sword as the dust settled. Going forward, Ross looked ahead and kept Bright back, a moaning filled the room. It didn’t sound pleasurable or in agony, only as if it was the only noise you could make.
And as the dust fell, suddenly Ross saw a black silhouette push forward through the dust. Quickly he slashed forward with his sword and backed up a few steps with Bright. A groaning came from the Kagen, it was a Kagen and his body was hung on a bended metal pole. Blood dripped from the pole as it ran through the wolf’s neck, half of his body hairless and filled with mold.
“Oh god, he’s trapped mid regeneration, he can’t get to the next and he’s just rotting his brain is gone.” Bright spoke as he looked forward, the wolf’s head was seemingly collapsed in and as the Kagen extended his arm it nearly fell off. Ross took mercy on a Kagen for once and plunged his sword into the man’s body, cutting his down from the pole and killing him as it seemed.
“He had to be trying to get something when he got caught on the collapsing metallic pole.” Ross commented as he looked around the dusty room, until a glint caught his eye. Walking forward past the corpse, he bent down and his hands wrapped around a nylon strap.
The dragon picked it up, a black cylinder and a handle. Attached to it a bag filled with ten or so ammo heads. And Ross never saw a bigger smile on Isaac’s face when he raised it up and showed him the RPG. Isaac ran forward and grabbed it out of the dragon’s hand.
“If I didn’t have a born-again boyfriend I could kiss you right about now.” Isaac jubilantly celebrated as he wrapped the RPG around his back. Holding it still he looked around at it, as if it weren’t real. “So then how do I look?”
“Amazing as always.” Bright commented as he walked past and gave the shark a pat on the back. “I think that is all, now then so we don’t have to walk back there, how does one feel about stealing an RV?”
“I feel amazing already.” Isaac spoke as he walked over to the side of the building and looked down.
…
Ross sat with little emotion as he tapped on the desk in the RV. With the RPG settled in its stop and Bright at the steering wheel, the group of three drove down the empty roads at full speed. Isaac looked over to Ross, the dragon shooting a glare back with a funny face.
“Oh what happened to you did your periods finally sync up with Iren’s?” Isaac said with such a happiness in his voice, the effectiveness was just ruined. The shark noted it and Bright shot them a glance as well.
“Well you know it’s just, this is life now. Our old lives were destroyed and blown up in atomic fire, and I don’t know what happened to my husband. The Riftwalkers or Kagens could have captured him knowing his value or hell even the nanobots could have wanted him.” Ross opened up to Isaac, spreading the proverbial legs to his inner soul and feelings.
“Listen, this is life now and you will have to accept that but the one thing you need to accept as well is that we are Outsiders and we don’t have normal lives anymore. Hell, I used to think my life was pretty fine until all the shit with life when out the window at like age five when my entire family collapsed and long story short, it got a leg blown off for me.” Isaac dropped some mad truths onto Ross and the dragon looked nervously down as the microwave door vibrated in the background.
“I didn’t know Isaac, I just wish that for us we could live normal lives but I see that sometimes maybe we can’t always get what we want no matter how hard we try to get it.” Ross spoke and the shark smiled, it was a hard and bitter pill to swallow but Isaac knew the dragon would do better with that truth in his system, it was just Ross growing up.
…
Finn landed on solid ground, or at least he thought he did. The shark shinesparked somewhere and he was pretty sure that it wasn’t a real place. Enveloped in darkness, the shark looked around as he took a step with his feet, he heard the vibrations of concrete.
“So then Iren…” Finn listened, people were talking above him, Tidus it sounded like and the shark stood still. It didn’t take Finn long to figure out he was in the basement of his own military base, so opening his hands up the shark held them out and let electricity flow between them. A mini-light blub formed as the room was surrounded with blue light, the shark took note of the entire basement.
And that was when something quick punched his back, Finn gulped for air as he turned around and felt a black shadow move around him. The shark instinctively threw a punch forward and it hit something, it felt hard and almost armor like, opening his hands the shark let electricity flow one again.
Finn watched as he turned his head and hands, the lighting effect always one inch behind the racing figure trying to keep to the darkness. Finn paused and held him still for a second, holding tight in his legs and then opening them, letting electiricyt flow out through the air in all directions.
“Gigavolt Discharge!” Finn yelled as the entire room light up and the massive ball of electricity expanding out hit the shark’s attacker. Finn looked back at his attacker for a second but it was still too dark. Finn stepped forward but the shadow was quick, throwing a punch and hitting Finn in the face.
The shark felt himself knocked back, blood flying from his lip. Quickly Finn fired a blast forward but the shadow was running and disappeared in a second. The battle ended and Finn stood up as he looked around, that wasn’t right. What the hell was in the basement, the shark stood still.
Opening his nose, the room smelt like ozone and the floor was charred but to his front a door seemingly opened and a shaft of light lit up the room. And then the blubs in the ceiling above him rang with power.
“Iren is that you!” Finn yelled as he ran over.
“Yes, Finn how did you get into the basement?” Iren nervously asked as she looked behind to Tidus and Edison, both of them scanning the shark. One with eyes and the other with tablet. Finn looked up with a smile on his face and took a step up the stairs.
Iren pulled a gun out and held it forward to the shark, Finn kept still and looked at the tiger as she gained that look on her face. Iren held the gun still to Finn’s face as he held his hands up to her, she wasn’t kidding but the shark was always in a bit of a mood for a joke and keeping his hands up in the air, a few more sparks crackled around his body.
The shark flew forward, Finn shinesparking through the tree as he appeared behind the tiger, shark and human. All three of them turned around and looked surprised as Finn smiled behind them. As the layer of electricity shed from his body Finn smiled at Iren and looked at her.
“Seriously don’t underestimate my powers because shinesparking can now get me through solid mass.” Finn spoke with a bit of nervous tick in his voice, the shark knew something had managed to get into the base’s basement. “But now for the real problem, close that door and lock it.”
“Why?” Iren wondered as she shut the door and did as the shark said, turning the tumbler on the lock. Finn heard the sound of it clanking shut and that relieved him somewhat, but the idea that something below the base, something managed to get in and managed to do something horrified him.
“Because when I shinedsparked into the basement, I surprised something and that something attacked, it might have been Kagen or nanobot, even Riftwalker but it attacked me and it might be coming back. We tried our best to hide our base but it seemed either a group got lucky or they know where we are.” Finn spoke and explained, that was all he knew and that was all they needed to know but Finn needed to check everything.
“Wait what, how is that even possible?” Iren asked as she walked with Finn, the shark brooding off towards the front of the base. Tidus and Edison nodded and the two followed, Iren holding her tablet down to the floor and Tidus looking at the streaming data as he stepped away.
“Well it’s not something that happened elsewhere and it’s not a temporal anomaly so we can rule out another Tidus or the Nanobots, one of the groups it has to be then.” Edison explained then.
“Wait, the nanobots are a temporal anomaly, and another Tidus?” Finn asked as he opened a door to a stairwell and walked in Iren and the rest of the group grabbing the door as they passed through and started to walk the set of stairs up the stories.
“Yes, like Tidus, the nanobots are tied to their own creation because they uncertainly created their own selves by being inside Tidus when he time traveled back and thus can be tied back to multiple timelines thus they have come to us as a known temporal anomaly.” Edison explained as Finn arrived at the final steps, ignoring the armory he looked out of the windows and through the door and forest.
“Men!” Finn called the soldiers around him as they gathered in front of the windows, a least twenty-five camo clad men lined up for the shark to see as he saluted them. Iren looked over to Tidus and nodded, this wasn’t a joke Finn was playing, this felt all too serious.
“Now then you are going to be our new first line of defense, open all of these windows and remove the glass planes, set up machine guns at this points and prepare for a war. Get vests and weapons and be ready to fight, spread this news and get this base churning, any objections?” Finn yelled out into the few soldiers and they all glanced at each other. But they nodded, and started to walk away, Finn felt a bit more relaxed seeing the troops remove the glass windows and push in the machine guns, but all still did not feel right.
“Finn you are sure about this, that couldn’t have been your imagination freaking out due to your new powers or say anything else that it could have possibly been, you are sure whatever you saw down there is a threat to this base and want to act on that idea?” Iren once again asked the shark as he turned around and looked into the tiger’s eyes.
“Iren I know you are worried but this is a war at one point or another, machine gun bullets might be fired out of there. This could be a Kagen or a Riftwalker, Twilight breaking his promise or the Riftwalkers gathering themselves for a battle of epic proportions.” Finn looked at Iren and knew she was only trying to keep everyone safe, he smiled at her and put a hand on her shoulder.
“But you could be wrong, I mean how possible is it that you just fucked up or imagined something down there, we aren’t the best when it comes to predicting attacks so what makes this time different?” Iren argued, Tidus and Edison backing up as a wind blew through the room blowing the two jackets of the Outsiders.
“Believe in me Iren, I came back from the dead that like automatically makes me the Jesus metaphor with in this group.” Finn jokingly spoke as he took a breath and pulled his hand away. “And when that thing in the basement attacked me with a punch that I couldn’t dodge, I knew I had to do something about it because if that thing attacks her again, well I’m not sure I can stop it.”
Iren paused as she looked around, that was kind of noble of Finn to admit that truth. Finn smiled and walked up to the stairs again, taking the final ramp up to the top floor. Iren followed, Tidus and Edison keeping themselves a few feet behind.
“I want to keep this place safe, and I want to do what is best for everyone here for all I know a massive attack could be prepared down the road and we wouldn’t know until it was right on top of us. It’s not like we have Erick with us any more for that.” Finn spoke and he sat down on the edge of the building, letting his feet hang over and the wind blow through his shorts.
Iren just stood there and looked at the shark in the midday summer sun, Finn looked out and wondered where Isaac was. The shark promised he would be back for lunch, but Finn tried to keep his mind off that. Isaac wasn’t any place near a Kagen or Riftwalker movement.
“Well you believe in this word and I know that you somehow think you can find a way to fix it.” Iren stood over the edge of the building and wondered about life and the sharks she had. Tidus, Finn and Isaac, each one a step below the other in her book.
“Well we do what we have to do in this world because we have to and we have to fight in this war because it is the right thing to do, I heard someone say once. And I know I can fix this world, one way or another it will be fixed by my hand or someone else’s but so long as the world is fixed in the end, I see that as a means to an end.” Finn looked out over the forest and saw life in its purest form.
…
“So then we haven’t looked into Bright yet, what is your dirty secret Bright. What have you been hiding from this world for us to ignore, because I want to see it and I know you have something.” Isaac leaned back on the foamy chair and looked over to the driver’s seat, he knew the Kagen in that seat was hiding more than a good body.
“Ah I don’t think I have much, I’ve pretty much been clean since the great old Kagen recombination.” Bright added as he kept his eyes on the road and tried to ignore the sweat running down his face.
“The great Kagen recombination, stop me if you have heard that one before but if I am right that is when all the Kagens in the whole of their induvial dimensions were combined into a powerful universal form, so then what did you do before that?” Isaac pondered as he looked forward and the shark coughed, Isaac saw a man cracking in front of him.
“Well depends on the dimension you are looking into, in some I was doing nothing in others I was a Dragon Emperor, transforming the citizens and annoying the Outsiders of Las Vegas and in one, the one that made the most difference to me, well I was a stoner but because of Benji.” Bright remembered the good old days for him, doing nothing until the shark managed to cross universes and the combined might of the Outsiders from Las Vegas, Boston and Washington DC managed to topple the Kagen Empire.
“I don’t know from what I heard you weren’t a Dragon Emperor, you were The Dragon Emperor. But go on who is this Benji and if I might ask where exactly is he?” Isaac pushed a little harder, he swore he had good if dilute intentions and the shark gained a bit of a nervous look on his face.
“Benji was granted immortality by a force that manages all death in the universe, he used masks and their powers to stop a demonic invasion by some guy named Greg or was it Craig, I can’t remember.” Bright pondered but that wasn’t the answer that Isaac wanted.
“I left Benji behind because war like this is hell and all I want to do is end it, I don’t care what principles of mine I break I just want to end this war.” Bright finally cracked and told the answer that Isaac was looking for. The Kagen took a bit of a breath and realized that was what he was fighting for, peace and Benji.
“Sounds good to me.” Isaac leaned back but as he did, there was a vibrating on the RV’s table. It wasn’t like with the bump in the road, it was a bit more like from an internal source. Isaac opened his eyes and looked over. Ross laughed a bit as he reached over and grabbed his phone.
“Oh my god.” Ross spoke. Isaac looked over and opened his eyes, he wasn’t going to fall asleep.
“Your periods did sync up?” Isaac said with a shit smile on his face but the look on the dragon’s face said otherwise. And then it turned into an angry frown, Isaac realized this wasn’t good news.
…
Finn stood up, he jumped forward towards the woods. He flew out off the side of the building, Iren sensing the power as well. He felt it, the power that was in the basement had come to him. It was in the woods, and the shark jumped into the forest as he searched. Surely Iren and Tidus were feeling it already and some of the soldiers might have been feeling it as well.
Finn landed on the ground and his legs glowed with power, lighting up his body as he strode forward. His body flashed forward and past two trees, flying forward and landing on the ground. The energy was shaking the forest, it had to be a Kagen and powerful. He wanted a fight.
Finn practically slid over the wood as he chased after the power, it wasn’t fading but it was getting stronger. Finn felt the power and looked around, it had to be something massive. It didn’t feel like one Kagen, it felt like multiple Kagens put together but in one body. Before him the sun shined again
That brought some confusion as Finn came to a road, stepping forward and looking down on the paved road, the shark looked to his left and right. In both directions, there was nothing, the power just faded out of existence. Finn took a step back until a horn blasted into the air, turning his head to the left the shark suddenly saw a truck come around.
Lights shined on the ground and the stones on the road shook, the truck driving through the forest and into the clearing. Finn looked on it, bodies standing upon it but the power he felt had vanished. The shark held himself still as he looked up and backed away from it.
A massive truck, nearly taking up the whole road and with a massive oil tank on the back passed by. The massive red vehicle honked its horn, the Kagens on top of it waving as it passed by. Rocks on the asphalt blasted by and the shark felt the ground shake around him. Twilight only smiled and waved as the truck passed by.
Finn looked up and the shark’s eyes opened wide as he saw Kagens standing on top of it, one jumped off. It was an owl, his armor the same as most Kagens.
“So then Twilight thinks one Kagen can stop me?” Finn asked the owl, the brown clawed beast landing on the ground and closing his wings. The owl said nothing as he walked forward, a cloak around his body.
“So then, tell me what is your name?”
“You can call me Penumbra.” The owl grabbed his cloak and threw it up into the air, the cloak landing next to him.
Kagens filled with more cars followed by and Finn paused. Running forward the owl in front of him laughed as it raised it hand, a mechanical hand on it as it stepped forward pushing the hair it had in front of its eye out of the way.
“Take a look at this, it’s a one of a kind device. And you know the best part, it was designed to take down pesky electric sharks just like you.” Penumbra jumped forward opening his wings as he reached forward and grabbed Finn. The shark suddenly felt the air knocked out of him.
“Well you know what the best part of it for me is, if it is one of a kind then I only have to destroy it one for it to disappear.” Finn quipped, but sparks appeared on his face and the shark fell to the ground.
“Oh really now, Beg for me Outsider. Beg for me to let you go and let your lungs breath the air you love so much.” Penumbra smiled as he forced Finn down to the ground, the shark’s knees digging into the dirt below him. Finn opened his eyes through the pain of being drained and looked forward, the convoy surely had but another turn to make and then they would be at the base.
Finn smiled, the base was prepared at least. The owl pushed Finn further down, forcing his head into the dirt and letting the shark laugh. Penumbra smiled and pushed the shark down a bit more, trying to absorb more electricity but even as Finn did so the owl failed to drain the shark completely.
“I’m sorry but you seem to have not read the catch-22 while my son might only be able to continually generate electricity and you may believe I absorb energy, my death and resurrection sort of changed that. Right now, I can keep feeding you forever and I guess eventually that will overload, so let me go and then we can have a bit of peace.” Finn charged electricity through his body, the blue arcs running up his back and into the glove of Penumbra, and yet he thought he might be trapped there.
He was with a determined Kagen and he knew that even overloading the glove wouldn’t result in the permeant death of Penumbra, so he was trapped for now. But then he heard the sound of the air cracking in the distance. His arm was grabbed, Penumbra’s arm, the owl screaming and struggling as the energy whip wrapped around it.
“Let me go!” Penumbra yelled as he pulled his hand back, Finn smiled and stood up from the ground. Putting his hands forward, he grabbed the owl by his wings and did what anyone else would do. The owl screamed his entire body zapped and filled with electricity.
And then Finn let him go, the owl flew back forward and crashed into the ground, burning the grass around him. And out of the woods, a figure approached, the green whip coming from them. And Edison stepped out of the forest, looking at Finn as the two smiled at each other.
“You’re strange, I don’t get you, you just run out without any ideas luckily Iren was smart enough to get an alarm going.” Edison looked at shark and smiled, the two of them dancing around each other as a friendship bloomed between the two and a connection and understanding from.
“You’re strange, I don’t get you, you analyze everything and make predictable steps on everything. But you’re fighting for something, and I think we need to get back. Grab on.” Finn smiled at her and extended his hand, the shark smiling at Edison as she looked back.
“Sure you can do that?” Edison pondered, Finn dug his heals into the ground and the shinespark charged as a barrier enwrapped the two of them. And then Finn snapped his fingers.
Fire, explosions, gunfire and horror all filled the face of Finn as he landed. On the opposite side of the road, the truck had seemingly released the whole of the oil on the road, Kagens took shots as the shoulders fired down on them. Finn looked up at the Kagens and knew what he had to do, he turned over to Edison.
“Get to the other side and make sure you stay safe, I need to deal with this and get in there. You don’t have powers; you need to keep yourself safe.” Finn looked over at Edison who nodded, he nodded back and his body sparked again. He disappeared and Edison stood still for a second.
“Well then Finn is away and the humans will play.” Edison saw an opening, everyone had their back on her and she had a direct shot at nearly all the Kagens on the truck. She grabbed her weapon, the cylinder lighting up in her hand. It extended out and a cylinder of purple energy formed.
The agent held it up and she closed one eye, her hand on the button as she aimed forward. And then she clicked, a golden stream of energy blasted out from the Kagen as he fell to the ground. Edison smiled, this was what she deserved after all the shit she was put through.
“This is for the Battle of Carson City.” Edison fired again and a Kagen was knocked to the ground, she twisted her body and three more Kagens exiting cars fell to the ground. The Outsider, at least she considered herself one, held her head high as she fired more energy into the field.
And as she walked forward, she kept her body low. The wind of regenerating Kagens blasting through her jacket from behind her. Edison turned around and then she screamed, covering her mouth as a hand landed on her shoulder. A smile appeared above her and she looked at the sharky grin with fear.
“Oh Edison you have no idea what kind of shit you have managed to involve yourself in, temporal agents can compare nothing to Kagens.” Twilight spoke to her.
…
As Bright pushed the brakes to the RV, the entire vehicle came to a stop and Isaac looked up. A group had gathered, a motorcycle gang in front of them. Ross, the dragon with his wings open, stood up and looked out of the windshield. He was the first to open the door, as Isaac stepped out with him and then finally Bright.
“Well then looks like we have a group of Outsiders for us today, now then I see no reason to be hiding what is happening from you.” A man, no as Bright walked forward he felt the energy he gave off through the ground, a Riftwalker stepped forward in front of his bicycle and looked at the two, the wolf grabbed his coat and flipped up the collar smiling.
“Who the hell are you?” Isaac asked, and the man simply took out a gun, and fired it. Bright and Ross gasped, but as the bullet traveled at Isaac it simply stopped inches in front of the shark, spinning around in place until the gravity powered Outsider flicked it out of the air like an annoying fly.
“Good shot kid, but you’re now the property of the Riftwalkers. Everything you own is now ours, your RV, your keys and even the gas in there is all ours for the taking of the Riftwalkers.” The man said as he stepped forward, his hair waving in the wind. “Now then Jelly, go take the smart one and see what they have.”
A rather fat Riftwalker stepped of his bike and took a few steps forward, Isaac looking at him as he walked forward and put his hands on his back. Ross and Bright looked as Isaac was walked back into the RV. The two stood there as the man held his gun forward at the two, both of them putting their hands up.
“Now you’re a Kagen, so you can regenerate and I’m sure the Kagens would like to know about a defector and pay us defectors as well. But your mortal and I don’t think you would do well with a gun to your head, so to make a bit of a show I think I’ll kill you first.” The wolf said as he walked over and placed the gun right onto Ross’s head, the dragon standing there on the road still as the bikers in front of him laughed.
“Now then I think you will be interested in knowing something, when you are killed you die. And I will make sure you die in a horribly painful way, and like that I can shoot you in the right way so that you don’t instantly die.” The Riftwalker threatened as he held the gun still and Ross shook.
“I’m sure we can reach some sort of compromise sir.” Ross spoke as he kept his hands raised, the dragon working to escape somehow. The wolf laughed and then looking forward, the man obviously finding this funny in some sort of manner. The wolf backed off and raised his gun back into the air, holding it still as he looked around at the two.
“I’m not going to kill you, you will be cattle for us but don’t be silly we aren’t animals, you have superpowers and either way we can deal with you in different ways.” The wolf said as Ross laughed as well, sighing in relief. But then the wolf turned around again, holding the gun in his hand.
They stood still for a few seconds Ross looking over to Bright as the two stood there, a creepy melody going through their heads as they stood prisoners. And then the wolf turned around again with a smile on his face.
“But then again, I am a man of my word.” The wolf turned around and before Ross could even calculate, the Riftwalker clicked the trigger and fired.
…
If Finn though the outside of the building, he had another thing coming as he teleported into the building. Iren looked at him, nearly mentally screaming at him as she walked in. The tiger adjusted her jacket, behind her a man with his leg blasted of being carried as he splattered blood onto the ground.
“Tidus cannot do anything for risk of a spark hitting the oil, and the Kagens are overloading this place!” Iren yelled as Finn took a look around the base, he might as well do his best to fix the place up and fight back the Kagens. Finn looked to the front door, oil leaked through it and the shark saw a layer of oil on the ground floor.
“So then, Iren think you can push most of this oil back out through the door because I believe in your powers and stuff.” Finn looked over to the tiger who seemingly had a mental breakdown as the plan completely flew over her head, she raised her hands and they glowed.
The oil slashed around as the floor shook and the shark backed up smiling as he looked over to her, the oil started to retreat. Finn held his hands up and looked back to the two soldiers who held their guns up. As a Kagen advanced at the door, Finn kicked his foot forward and he was knocked back.
The shark saw that Iren was having a bit of trouble getting everything out, he quickly grabbed a couch and with his knees picked it up. HIs entire body shifting the couch and throwing it in front of the door. Impeding the doors and the Kagens but not the flammable oil.
“When your down, keep the oil back and well you’ll know when to run from the massive blaze.” Finn said to Iren as he turned and ran up the stairs, going through the bricked stairwell, the sounds of gunfire above him echoed above. Finn pushed on the door to the roof top and quickly saw a black blur run at him.
Finn kicked at it and the shark raised his hands and placed them on the wolf’s chest, he smiled and the wolf flew through the air. Hitting the other side of the building and crashing down to the ground, Finn nearly felt bad, but kept going.
Turning around he watched as the trucker stood there, he gave Iren a few minutes. Kagens were resisting the gunfire with shields, bullets flying through the air. Finn felt the need to change that, the shark took a running leap and his body flew off the roof.
The shark landed on the wide truck’s body and quickly he kicked a Kagen, throwing a blast of electricity forward. A few Kagens managed to get distracted and fell to the ground as their shields failed them. Finn ran forward and kicked another Kagen off.
The shark quickly felt an energy advancing and with a glowing hand deflected a shot from behind. His body sparked and he felt the hand that fired the shot in his hand, as the shark held the Kagen on the windshield, he watched the orca hold still for a few seconds.
The orca got smart and threw a blast of energy with his other hand, Finn grabbed it and with both hands started to glow. The orca smiled uncomfortable and Finn opened his fingers, sparks flying between them. The orca flew backwards through the air opening a pair of wings, Finn put his hands forward and cupped them together.
Electrically charged energy gathered between his hands, the half-Kagen tapping into his energy potential as it gathered between his fingers. A glowing arcing ball of energy formed and an aura charged up around Finn’s body. Pulling his hands back, the shark focused his energy on the group in front of him.
The aura started to waver and the shark smiled as it was dragged into the ball of energy, and then Finn threw his hands forward. Holding his hands forward a massive beam of energy flew forward and hit the orca, knocking him to the ground. The cars of Kagens were knocked away and thrown off the road, orange spikes of regeneration energy flying up.
Finn smiled and pulled his hands up, feeling his energy drained. About a quarter of the Kagen army was regenerating due to his actions. The road was torn up and dirt flew to the side, a massive circle drug through the ground. The shark stood proud at his creation.
And then the shark felt a hand on his shoulder, Finn standing on the windshield and engine turned back. The shark, the Kagen shark, Twilight stood there as he pulled Finn up. The shark quickly reacted, shinesparking forward and knocking the Kagen back. But Twilight smiled as he canceled his momentum.
“So then I feel that we are one in the same now, did my brother let some of his DNA into you, or are you just that lucky to be alive. I thought you died, but shame my brother is gone, he will be dealt with later.” Twilight spoke and the shark simply raised a finger, holding it up to the air and forming a ball of glowing energy. The sun was blocked out and the truck reflected back in a shade of blue, Finn looked up into the sky and realized what he was not prepared to face.
As Twilight floated into the air, the shark held a ball of energy at least as wide as a house. And then he condensed it, outer layers of energy collapsing in on itself and organizing as it turned into something like a neutron star. The shark just smiled and threw it forward.
Finn extended his hands and felt like a train hit his body. The shark felt energy rush into his hands in order to not be obliterated by the ball in front of him. He could see around it and it had mass and energy to it like nothing he felt before.
Finn felt the metal under him start to collapse and bent, twisting as his feet sunk into it. Holding his hands high, the shark looked forward and the Kagens walked away from the top of the oil tanker. On the other side, Twilight stood as a lone Kagen facing an enemy, and in his hands a prisoner.
“No, not her.” Finn wished, he looked forward and saw Edison, the agent in her bloodied coat on her knees as Twilight held her in front of her. Both of his hands on her shoulder, he leaned down and took her only weapon. The metal cylinder in her hands, Finn tried to speak.
Iren moved forward jumping into Finn’s range, but Twilight extended his hand out and the tiger was knocked back onto the roof. Tidus stood their afraid as he looked around, the shark held her still for a second. Moving his hand to her chin and pulling it up to face her.
“Smile your about to demoralized in this war forever.” Twilight spoke to her and extended out his other hand, with the cylinder in hand, he clicked a button and the whip blasted out and with another a yellow sword in his hands formed.
“Now then I might be a nice man, but today is not why you find out why I have so little rules. What today is a reminder to all humans on why they shouldn’t have entered this war, I gave my promise to you before but I realize I was being to generous.” Twilight slashed out with his hand, the blade cutting air as he held it to the throat of Edison.
Finn looked forward and saw into her eyes, she had despair and as Twilight held the sword their he looked forward. Bright knew from the future that one thing was true, sitting in his New York apartment with Colin. He knew that reflecting on the Kagen War, the speech of the Prophets of the Falling Star was not as popular for what it contained but what for it showed, its irony allowed it to become famous.
Bright sat there with a cup of tea in his hands reading the journal of Twilight and knew that the Kagen too wasn’t able to hand the pressures of war. He snapped, he went crazy and the shark put the book down because he knew that the horror of that day.
The Kagens lived in a wheel of time and a wheel of fire, as more time passed the fire that haunted the generation of Kagens would return and even as Twilight seemed well, he was engulfed with the fire. And Bright knew that as the Kagen stood there with a sword to Edison’s neck, he could have turned back at any time.
And yet that was not how the Kagen would act, Bright knew that one thing would happen on that day that would pass a somber song of pianos through his head and as Twilight, hero of the Las Vegas Outsiders, freer of Dragons and in many universes a lover, a piece to the heart of Koji, stood there with a sword to Maryam Edison’s neck, a cord in the box of music snapped.
The somber piano piece that was Twilight had broken and had taken a darker turn as deeper notes were played but the song was still the same with a different perspective. But at that moment, when the cord snapped the old song became unplayable and a new song had to played. And thus, Twilight pulled the sword.
