Me and my father stand on the shore our blood wood armor sways lightly in the wind. We  see huge ship come over the horizon. We had never seen something like this. from the woods the rest of our small army came. About seventeen men stood shoulder to shoulder prepared for war, All equipped with their weapon of choice. My father with his bow I with my spear. The ship was almost to our island. My father turned to our men and spoke. “This will be our first fight! Don't let it be our last!" We all yelled out a war cry and our archers began to fire upon the ship. They stuck into the wooden hull and some flew up onto the top of the deck but none hit anyone. A creature in a black over cloth and a grey undershirt walked to the edge and yelled out to us.

“Fear not primitives we don't wish to harm you! We are all unarmed! I am Bill Haley I am an explorer! May we come to your island?" My father signaled for our men to stop shooting and thought about what the man said. He turned to me and spoke. “Ashen'Paw What do you think we should do? As my daughter you will be chief soon, it's time to prove to me you can do it!" I nodded and began to think. It said they were unarmed. but it also wasn't of our kind. It had no fur and the things ears were small and connected to the side of its head. They also can build such massive ships. With that kind of transport we could expand away from this tiny island. I had my decision. “I think we should let the come. They could perhaps teach us things! Like how to build such a big boat!" My father nodded and we looked back at the ship it was about at the shoreline. “You may come strangers. We will not fire upon you!" I yelled to the ship, he nodded and ran back to wherever.

The ship hit land and a ladder was thrown over the side. two of the things climb down. They are not much different from us they just don't have fur… or ears on top of their heads… and a tail, ok so they are different but they are now our guests. The tallest one from the ship walked close to me and my father. It spoke with a calming voice. “ Hello there! As I said from the ship I am Bill Haley. Which one of you is the leader? I would like to meet them." My father told it he was the chief. it walked up and held out its hand. by father took it and began to sniff it before recoiling. “By what gods is that smell!?" It chuckled and in the same calming voice spoke. “ Ah you see I have been at sea almost two months I haven't had a bath in a while. I apologize. I must say your armor and suits are quite well made. the animal parts make it look almost like you're really an animal." Confused I take off my helmet and stab my spear into the sand. “What does that mean bell? We only wear our armor." Taken about it steps back. “wah-what? Your really animal people!... That's so cool!! Also its Bill not Bell."

I folded my ears back. its yelling hurt my ears. “You not need be so loud friend. We Kuia have sensitive hearing." He apologized and got closer to me. “Would it be inappropriate of me to want to touch your face? I have never seen anything like you before." I was uncomfortable with the request but it seemed nice. Besides it was just harmless touching. I nodded and smiled. “I do not mind. Just don't mess with my ears." It began to reach at me. But my father interrupted.  “I would like it if you didn't touch my daughter. We still do not know you. She should know better than to let another touch her… Especially a male!" I folded my ears back “ I'm sorry father. Maybe we should take them to our village they are here to explore, not stand on a beach all day." He eyed me but nodded. “Yes thats a good idea! I will go grab my gear and team and be right back. Gram why don't you go get these nice people some gifts from storage. Do your people drink wine?"

What was wine? and team? there was going to me more of these things? I was confused but didn't question. both of them climbed back into their ship and our men headed back into the woods most likely to tell the village and their mates. My father put his hand on my shoulder. “Ash listen to me. I don't fully trust them. Keep an eye on them. I need to go back and tell the queen stay here and lead them there. I will see you soon. I love you sweetheart." I nodded and he walked away. A few minutes passed and the thing called Gram climbed down with things in his hands one I recognized as a spear head. it shined in the sun. It walked up and handed me the basket. he kept ahold of the spear head. I sat the basket down and stared at it. I jumped when it spoke. its voice deep and quite. “Saw you used a spear, My great grandfather used one in the Illack war. Thought it might be a good gift for you. My boss said to give this one to you especially. so uh here… please take care of it."

I nodded and took it, Pulling my spear from the ground I broke the stone head off and placed the shiny one in its place. It fit perfectly. and looked awesome. “I love it! Thank you!" I ran over and licked the side of his face in excitement. my orange furred cheek heated up. “Oh my bad I uh Got a bit excited… sorry." Gram just laughed “it's quite alright. though my boss would have liked it more then me. he is the one who told me to give it to you. So are you like a fox? You have orange fur and I see some white under your armor." I shrugged. “I do not know there are many different types of Kuia." Gram nodded as Bill came out from behind him. “Hey there… shoot did you say your name? Im awful with names!" I laughed and responded. “No I don't think I did. My title is Ashen'paw But most people call me ash. I got the name by saving my friend slik from a fire burning my hand and fur. it never grew back orange it's now an ash color." I said as I took my left gauntlet off to show them.

They nodded and Bill spoke up. “So this is my team, Ash meet Brook, Lee and Lance. Brook is the little lady at the far end looking sleepy and annoyed. I woke her up from a nap. Lee is the one in the middle He is our science guy. And Lance is the big dark skinned one, He may look big and scary but he's as cuddly as a teddy bear." The one named Lance spoke and a higher voice than I expected. “Don't forget Lil' Byte" A metal… thing walked out from behind him. It was about as tall as a grown house cat and had a round body with four small arms and a strange. Face? whatever it was it was sorta cute. “Well let's go then follow me and whatever you do don't eat anything you see! most of the berries here are poisonous. not enough to kill you but you will wish to be dead!." With that I put my helmet back on and grabbed the basket while walking into the woods and to the village.

We walked up the path and my father and mother were there to greet us. Bill sped up and walked next to me. once we got close enough Bill spoke. “Hello chief. And I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet, You must be ash's sister?" My mother giggled and spoke. “Ah Chill you were right they are strange." She turns to him and speaks again. “No child I am her mother but thank you, Welcome to our small village. It is not much we are on a small island after all." Bill nodded and walked past me as did his team, I walked over and joined my family. Brook elbowed Lee. “Ey Lee how ya holdin up? I know yous was sick the otha day." Lee shrugged and they looked round. Lil' Byte had climbed up to Lance's shoulder. “What lovely scenery." It chirped. “Yeah it is Byte. Can't wait to see the rest of the island." We followed them around they spoke to the townspeople. and soon made it to our tent. “This is our tent… well mine and my mates, Ash has her own tent. We can set you up a tent if you would like." Said my father Bill nodded and my father told one of the guard to get a tent made for them. “Well Me and Storm are going into our tent. Ash can lead you around some more just be in your tents before sundown." I nodded and they walked into the tent and I looked at Bill.

“You guys wanna see the best part of this island!?" I exclaimed They all nodded. “Ok let me set this basket down and put my spear up I will be right back." I run to my tent and set everything down. returning I lead them back out of the village and down another path. Once we got there the sound of a crashing waterfall could be heard. “This is my favorite place on the island!" We walked up to a shimmering lake with a waterfall leading into it. “I don't know about you guys but I'm going swimming!" I called out I began tossing off my armor not thinking about the fact that I was now nude infront of four strangers. “Daaaaamn!" Said Lee, Then I heard a smack and then some one stomp over to me. “Ey fox lady. I dunno how you people do it but goin nude is usually a bad thing. Specily around these three idiots. I think I have a spare swimsuit in my bag just cover ya self girly." I was confused and turned back towards them, all three of the men stared at me slack jawed as Brook looked for whatever it was she wanted. They got to me and I covered up best I could. “You don't have to stare! Thats disrespectful." *Smack* Brook smacked Lee and threw over some cloth at me “Lee dammit stop bein rude, she isn't That attractive…" I looked at it and understood what they were for and tried to put them on, the chest piece was small and the bottom tight fitting but I was covered.  By the time I was done the rest of the were changed. “Let's go!"

They nodded and Lil Byte Chirped. “Do not worry I will watch… from way over here away from the water!" I was confused but shrugged and jumped into the lake, the water was so clean you could see right through it. The rest joined me in the water. my tail flowed behind me as I swam up to Bill and licked his face. He was confused and his face got red. “Uh -uhm hi ash?" I giggled and told him why I had kissed his cheek. “That was for the spear head. I appreciate it. Thank you." He stumbles over his own words, he finally pieces a sentence together. “Its n-no problem you just seemed nice so I thought I'd get you something special." I giggled. “You're cute when you're flustered." I said then splashed him in the face and swam away. “Why you… Im gonna get you!" Brook, Lee and Lance smiled and watched our shenanigans. And then joined in by splashing Bill and each other. It was war! and I had the upper hand. I used my powerful legs to propel me while I went under the water and surprise attacked Brook, while using my tail to slosh water at Lance. Lee came from my side and splashed all three of us. We all laughed and played, until I noticed how dark it had gotten.

Turning to them. “Hey everyone, It is getting dark, We need to head back now. It will be dark before we get back so you will have to follow me step for step… Our traps are activated by moonlight." they looked from one another then back at me and nodded. We all got out of the water I removed the cloth coverings Brook gave me and Began to put my armor on. Bill who was already dressed walked over to me. “Hey Ash I have some warmer clothes in my bag they would be a bit loose on you but it would be warmer than just your armor." I looked at my armor then back at Bill. And as if to make a point a brush of wind past my backside making me shiver. I nodded to him and he went to his bag and pulled out some clothes as he called them and tossed them to me. I turned away from him and striped back out of my armor and Put on the shirt and pants before turning around. Lil' Byte Chirped. “You look rather good in Bills clothes, What do you think lance?"  Lance nodded and turned to the woods. “we need to move come on guys. Ash you lead the way." I nodded and Headed into the woods and to the village.

We were about halfway back to the village when I heard Lee yelp. “Uh Ash I need some help… I found a trap…" We all turned to see Lee hanging upside down by a rope attached to his leg. Bill laughs while Brook shakes her head in disappointment. “What happened to following me step by step?" I said while getting him down. “Uh I saw a glowing flower and wanted to check it out for studying purposes." A glowing flower? He mustn't mean a Duskbloom. “Did you touch it? did any pollen get on you?!" Lee shook his head. “No I got trapped before I got to it. is it dangerous?" I nodded and started to walk again. “Yes it has a paralyzing effect that can only be healed by a buk berry, Which is from one of the rarest bushes on the island."  They all nodded. We got to the edge of the village and off to the side was two tents.

“I guess those two are you guys tents. I will talk to you tomorrow we can explore more of the island. Maybe you can show us how you make such big boats." Bill smiled and walked over to me as the rest of them went to their tents. “You can keep the clothes, I have more on the boat. I'll talk to you later I guess. Today was amazing. Thank You for warning us about the flower." I nodded and I walked to my tent. I striped down and noticed a certin smell that only happened once a month, I was starting my heat. Hot and bothered I laid down in my bed. I drifted off to sleep.
