Chapter Two: Shadow of Death, Part Two
“Wake up Finn, your time is running out and your nearly half way there.”
Into the shark’s ears, a deep voice entered his ears and he suddenly awoke, the world spun around as he realized he wasn’t laying down but instead sitting down in a chair. He was in some sort of office, it looked like he was in a profession work space office, two large binder cabinets in the background. A window gave the impression of light but it was covered by massive curtains.
And in front of him was a computer, it looked old. It was quite old, looking forward the computer seemed to be running a very old version of windows on screen. The large obliquely shaped monitor, sat on top of what seemed to be the computer itself, and in it were seemingly disk shaped ports. That was strange, but then suddenly the chair was pulled down and the whole room’s gravity seemed to be increased.
“Yeah don’t peak at your future yet, it’s only Windows 10, something that appeared completely unexpected and without warning a bit like the theory of everything in your universe.” The man said as he walked in, he was dressed in a red suit, everything about him seemed to be styled. He appeared to be human and had freckles on his face and hair styled like a flame.
“So then if someone told you that a ginger ran hell would you be surprised?” The man said and then suddenly like a tractor trailer, the memories came back to Finn, his house exploding, rubble landing on him and Isaac landing. “Now then don’t worry Isaac is alive and so are you apparently, according to this your only here for a checkup.”
“So I’m in hell, are you telling me this is my second chance, that I get to make a difference now and this is my chance to do better in this world and get into heaven instead of remaining down here.” Finn extrapolated as he stared off towards the window, wondering if this was the hell that he had to live with one day.
“Yeah no, you mortals read into everything and there is no heaven anyway, only rebirth here in this universe. Either way, you’d probably go to heaven any way and I’d send you there because you are far too good for me anyway.” The devil said as he closed the computer and clicked the sleep button. The computer shut off and the glow on his face disappeared.
He walked away from the desk and standing up, as he grabbed his tie and adjusted it. Looking to the cabinet he grabbed a handle and opened it, to Finn’s surprise the cabinet opened and he jumped onto of it. The man started to walk on top of it even as the cabinet drawer expanded out longer and longer.
“Don’t look back to the previous wall, the last time someone did that, the universe nearly collapsed, then again maybe I should have stopped putting Benji through horrible deaths each time.” He got onto his hands and did a cartwheel around the drawer until he stopped. Pausing halfway into the air, he grabbed a folder and threw it out onto the desk as it opened up and showed a file with Finn’s picture on it.
“All of this has to do with you, so don’t look unless you want to be spoiled especially twice over, but then again the second one probably doesn’t involve you and it’s a bit shorter.” The devil said as he grabbed the folder off the desk before Finn could grab it and spoil himself. He looked at the file and scanned down it.
“Now then I don’t have much for you but someone else does, you might now him in your universe as Twilight but a different version of him, a nicer version of him that isn’t going to kill you.” The devil said as he then disappeared into a puff of smoke and left Finn hanging as the door behind him opened.
“So then you are the next hero of the multiverse, I expected you to be a bit thinner or a bit stronger; but you seem to be a bit stranger and different than the other ones.” Twilight spoke with seemingly a bit of sarcastic flare in his voice and then he sat down in front of the computer, he pushed it out of the way and looked at Finn.
“Don’t say much, you’ll hurt your vocal cords and might mess up your memories if you try to say something ironic or sassy. Now I was wondering how long it would be until he was stupid enough to leave me alone.” Twilight put his hand out onto Finn’s mouth just as he was about to retort the shark. Finn stopped and looked down at his mouth, Twilight kind of just pulled his hand back as he realized how awkward he had made it. He held still and looked around as he waited for something to seemingly happen.
“So then you are the leader on your team and I was kind of co-leader on my team, I was intelligence, my boyfriend was the muscles of the team and we worked gloriously except for that one time we were nearly caught in an opera house but that’s a different story.” Twilight said as he looked over to the computer, and his eyes traced back and forth between the screen and Finn. He started to secretly type.
“Now then, I have a warning for you. Someone on your team is a bit crazy, maybe Michelle or maybe Tidus.” Twilight spoke as he stood up and opened the window, Outside the window fire blasted up from the window and hit the glass plane. The window stood still and Finn stood up as he looked out into hell.
“Look at that, the lawyers will always interact with the felons and the network censors with the judges. I still don’t know who it is worse for but it this place will always be hell.” Twilight pondered as he looked out the window and then closed the curtains. Smiling as he walked over to the desk again, he held the computer and then shut it down again.
“I am the leader of this team, and I know everyone who works with us. Even Michelle and Tidus who work for the military, I still trust them and I know that they won’t betray us.” Finn wondered as he looked away from the window and then looked at Twilight. The shark laughed a bit and put the folder back into the drawer, closing it as its seemingly infinite expanses were pulled back.
“Yeah you always think that, and you always think that no one on your team will die until someone does. I still can’t look at Molly these days, but she’s also important as well.” Twilight explained, looking out to hell as well and then he paused for a second and groaned as he looked up to the sky. “Oh, I don’t want to say this but you should know that your days are going to get worse and worse.”
“Then what do I do about this?” Finn asked as he leaned back in his chair and looked up to ceiling as well. Breathing and looking around, Finn wondered what was going to happen. What was going to happen to his team, this shark might have had the ability to seen in the future.
“You don’t do anything, you can’t do anything, the future is already set now and what happens is not up to you or up to your team, someone else has changed the future and what happens now is up to him or her, who lives who dies and who tells your story is set. But there was a worse future.” Twilight said as he closed his eyes and then he looked to Finn. Holding his hand, the Kagen stroked his fingers. Finn shivered a bit and looked at Twilight, the shark was nice.
“Well then what you’re going to do is you’re going to grab your lover, Isaac he’s very nice if a bit of an ass but grab him tight and kiss him and enjoy him for all you can because you’re need some good memories to stand with the darkness.” And then he stood up, Twilight looking into Finn’s eyes and tearing up a bit. Holding him still, he walked around the table and looked down.
“Your waking up and the world is going to be dark, stay close to your friends and know who to best work with, it’s going to save you, but someone on your team isn’t telling the truth.” Twilight said as he disappeared and Finn looked around, the entire room exploded into a million pieces of confetti and then Finn felt himself being twisted around onto his back.
His leg was extended and he felt like he was lying down in a comfy bed, two bars were around him and he heard the sound of a medical device working, a sharp ping entered his ears every second or so. He heard the sound of crying in the background and as he clinched his fist, he felt something wrapped around it.
It was Isaac’s hand, and then Finn’s eyes opened. Looking up onto the ceiling he saw the white pasty and knew where he was. Pausing as he suddenly felt himself breathing and then he looked down, his hands and right side of his body were covered in bandages. And then he gripped his hand and the crying stopped.
Looking over and groaning Finn, saw Isaac. The shark was dressed in his nicest clothes and seemed to be better off. Only his head was wrapped in medical tape, what did that explosion do. Finn looked at his body and saw he was covered in bandages, he felt them all over and over his medical gown.
“So then is this the part where you say something about looking up my legs?” Finn sputtered out as he felt his throat, it felt dry, he felt empty, how long was it since the explosion. Isaac looked up and a smile appeared on his face, the shark leaned into the bed and put his head onto Finn’s chest.
“I’m sorry, the nanobots stuck they found where we were and they exploded your whole house. Your parents, they’re, they had it worse than us, my powers activated and protected me, I tried to get them but they got away.” Isaac explained in quick rush as he put his head down onto Finn, just hearing the shark’s heartbeat seemed to be relaxing him. Finn looked forward and knew this was what Twilight was talking about, putting his hand on Isaac’s head he rubbed his hand through the shark’s hair, some of it was burned off, the bandage covering some it but his bare cranium was still showing.
“They know where we are and they know who to attack, they might do this to Erick and Barry or even forbid it but Michelle, they can strike us now and they might know who we are, this seems like as good a chance as always to panic and fear.” Isaac said as he rubbed his boyfriend’s body, careful not to touch the burned bits.
“They hurt you so bad, your blue skin, they turned it black and I will make them regret it. What they did to your parents as well, we need to do something, but first you need to heal.” Isaac said as he leaned over and looked into Finn’s eyes, he had never seen the shark like this before, he had never seen him so desperate and so needy.
“What happened to my parents, Loraine and Gene what did they do?” Finn asked as he looked into Isaac’s eyes and knew that he was filled with sadness, the shark just looked away and Finn knew that it was bad. Looking over, he saw the nanobots in his vision they were mocking him.
“Haha, look at those orphans they don’t know what they have coming to them, first the city will turn on them and then the world, they’re best days are behind them and they don’t even know what hell we will put them through.” Nano-Hart said as she started to laugh and pointed at them. She was just a vision in his mind but it was like he was there.
“What’s wrong?” Isaac asked he noticed Finn starting to breath erratically.
The shark started to lean up and he looked over, the lightbulb called to him and he was alone in this hospital. Curtains surrounded the two and he reached over, Isaac didn’t notice and Finn put his hand on the blub, he ignored the burning head and crushed it. And then as glass fell to the floor, shattering into a million pieces into his hand, Isaac noticed.
“The hell has gotten into you!” Isaac yelled as the room was engulfed in darkness, Finn stood up as he grabbed onto the lightbulb. His body started to glow and bandages fell off his body. Blue light flew off his body and lines like etchings in the sand started to appear. He was healed and he stood up off the bed and landed on the floor, sparks flew from his body and Isaac backed up, looking as Finn glowed.
Nurses stopped and looked, the cotton sheet between the two medical beds caught fire and started to burn. Finn glowed as his body was healed and he looked around, as Isaac activated the perception filter and everyone stared. Finn glowed as he stood victorious in his hospital gown.
And then smiling Finn looked over to Isaac, who smiled as well. Isaac reached over and grabbed a bag, showing an outfit inside. The two of them stood up and it became clear what they were going to do. Isaac stood up from his chair and walked away, engaging the perception filter fully and making them disappear to the weak minded.
“Come on let’s go get some revenge.” Finn put his hand out and Isaac threw his pants over, the nurses looked over in shock as two people just disappeared and left a broken lightbulb and a burning divider. Isaac threw over Finn’s shorts and the shark put them on under his gown before throwing the sheet off. Then his shirt and hoodie.
Adjusting his vest, he looked and felt back to be back in his strange original outfit, the last one must have been lost. He looked at the white and blue jacket and it almost looked alien. With its large buttons, he must have looked like he belonged on the cover of a British rock album. Buttoning the jacket, he felt it flow and it felt right.
“I’m sorry but you did lose most of your clothes, luckily some were in my house and I put this rag tag outfit together, it’s been three days the nanobot leaders could be anywhere in this city by now.” Isaac explained as he walked over into the hallway, looking out the night showed the darkness. Finn looked out and wondered how long it has been since his last meal.
Finn was handed his hostler and he put it onto his shorts, the tan piece of leather disappearing from his own view. He was handed his pistol but putting it into the holder he had the feeling he wasn’t going to use it. Finn held up his hand and blue bolts of lightning sparked between his fingers. He was filled to the max and the lights flicking showed he must have maxed out some circuits in the hospital.
“Well then we’re going to have get some information, they should be in the warehouse district but who knows, any news with the Kagens?” Finn asked as he adjusted his gun and felt his stomach. Isaac looked over and raised an eye as he heard Finn’s hunger.
“Well then the Kagens think you made a fool of yourself, but other than that it looks like the two months of silence might just be extended into three months of zero action.” Isaac confirmed as they walked down the hallway and past an automatic set of doors, walking into the doorway they ignored the receptionist and walked towards the glass wall.
“Well then that is good, I think we have a one more thing to do before we start this war against the nanobots.” Finn clarified as he walked out the opening doors, surely giving the receptionist a shock. Isaac looked over to him and grabbed his car remote, clicking it, Isaac’s car beeped and they were shown.
“You don’t have to see your parents yet, you should just focus on this and focus on recovering in.” Reassuring Finn, Isaac opened his trunk and shoved the duffle bag into it as Finn got into the front seat. Walking into the passenger seat, Isaac unwrapped his head and showed the scar. Grabbing a brush, he combed it over the bald spot and it seemed to be something he planned.
“Don’t mention them.” Finn retorted as he stood down for a second and allowed his frown to turn back into a smile. Isaac nodded and knew that Finn wasn’t going to talk about it. “No, first things first.”
…
Finn stuffed himself with tiny burgers, as they sat under the flickering light of the white paneled restaurant. Seemingly he had ten already eaten and ten more ready to eat, with a massive drink half slurped down and surprising the stoned employees that somebody could eat more than them.
Isaac looked outside the White Castle’s windows and to the city, the expressway out of the city churned with citizens at this ungodly hour of one o’clock and even in the darkness, Isaac knew this was the calm that would come before the storm.
…
“So then I’ve decided to come back here, because we have a different threat that is far too big for either of us to handle.” Finn spoke as he sat down weather in a tiny cabin or in a perception filter tech, he said both things the same time, and looking forward the two targets were the same, the first of the Riftwalkers and the Kagens, Bright and Basil both sitting down with him.
“Well then, what is your threat because you’re going to need some good reason to involve the Kagens in the affair of mortals.” Bright spoke as he sat down and handed Finn a cup of tea, Isaac looked at it and briefly played with his powers on it. Holding still, Finn looked back at him and the tea splashed back down. Bright looked at the tea and smiled.
“Well the nanobots, they’ve been here even since before you arrived and we have more than reason to believe that they might become a threat to both you and the Riftwalkers.” Finn spoke to Bright and he got a smile out of the sly shark, still they both looked to the window and saw the Kagens walking through the camp. How many would fight against the Nanobots.
…
“Interfering with mortals, seems like a good reason but what sort of threat are you dealing with and why should we help you?” Basil asked as he leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms, he didn’t offer the Outsiders anything but instead they had a container with them. Isaac looked over to Finn and they nodded.
“Well then you Riftwalkers should raise your little fists and fight because the nanobots are becoming too large a threat to handle.” Isaac spoke as he opened the Styrofoam container. Inside situated between buns, were two perfectly stacked pieces of meat juices running out of the perfectly cooked patty, three slices of pepper jack cheese stacked. Mayonnaise perfectly spread over the top and three pickles under the top bun.
“Well then you do drive a hard bargain.” Basil responded as he opened his mouth and licked his lips, his wing tips just fluttering and his fingers leaning on his knees, Isaac knew they had control. Closing the container, he could see the disappointment of the shark.
“I do, on this burger is fifteen thousand calories and enough energy to run a mortal human for four days and a shark for one, a shargon might consider this just a full meal.” Isaac put the container behind him, the burger was quite the treat. But it wasn’t for him and he cleared his mind as much as he wanted to eat it and stuff it down his throat. “Now then I understand food accommodations aren’t the best here, and you’d love this, now you can have it if you give us yourself and twenty Riftwalkers in a battle.”
…
“Well then, what do you have for me, what kind of thing might you be offering me, trust me I can be swayed with the right words or bought for the right sized gift.” Bright raised his eyes and Finn nodded at Isaac, inside of his backpack was his trump card for the Kagens. Holding it still, he grabbed the box and pulled it out and presented it. “Very mysterious.”
Finn grabbed the box and opened it, pulling the tape off and opening the front flap of the box. Inside of it was a Styrofoam case but removing it was a tiny glass vile inside. A red tinted liquid floated inside and Bright’s eyes glowed as he suddenly found himself in a good offer to take.
“Now then you now this, this is liquid Azbantium, a very rare element in its solid form but in its liquid form, you should know how many atoms of it are just in the universe.” Finn handed it to Bright and the shark smiled as he swirled the liquid around the glass, it was something of his up most use.
“Well then what do you want, because you know how to make a good deal, I will do anything for this, the amount of weapons I could temper with this would be amazing, I could supply an army with their weapons for a year and they would take down a Riftwalker in a second.” Bright ecstatically said as he realized he was now indebted to the shark and knew that he was going to have to do something.
“You and Twenty Kagens, all to fight with us, but do know there will be Riftwalkers at the fight but we will have then fight on our sides as well, so don’t worry, both of you won’t fight, can we agree on that?” Finn explained to both of them, of course replacing Riftwalkers with Kagens when he talked to Basil. Both of them resisted for a second but putting their most preciouses on the line again bought the around quickly.
And then it came time to issue the challenge, it demanded satisfaction, Finn brought Isaac as his second and only Isaac. This didn’t involve the other Outsiders, this was Finn’s turn to shine and this was his revenge to be taken. Of course the nanobots needed to be notified about this and then through open wireless signals, he sent the challenge, in the open square just on the edge of town, the time would have just before the sun fell out of the sky. Their adrenaline pumped their blood quicker and the two fractions stood waiting for the nanobots to appear. Finn kept his hand up, letting electricity flash between them.
“Are you sure you want to do this, you can all back down at this second, the nanobots will be a threat and if we don’t eliminate them here and now then they might grow out of control.” Finn warned the Riftwalkers and the Kagen as they stood silent, Basil and Bright looked at each other as they both nodded and Finn knew this would be a landmark battle for Carson City.
And then the two of them appeared, climbing out of sewer vent and appearing in the field, they were alone and they seemed to be going for a one-man and one-woman army. Their metallic bodies glowed in the warm sunset, energy running through their body and illumining the ground in a little blue glow as they walked out.
“Well then I didn’t think you would show up, but good on you for coming to your own funerals.” Isaac started as he walked forward and talked to the two nanobot leaders. They smiled as they stood still and then Nano-Hart started to laugh a bit, the challenge was there and they were going to face it.
“Well then Nano-Hart look at them, they arrived, they actually managed to come out here, I didn’t think they would get out of the hospital but it seems that we didn’t pound you enough, that won’t be a mistake we make this time.” Nano-Gene said as he walked forward and put his hand out, a blue energy ball formed in the air, casting a blue glow on the whole square as it glowed.
“Now then you two, it seems you brought an army, how unfair. If you do that, then how will we have a fair, one on one battle, it’s just not fair that you do that, we’ll have to just fight all of you, and I’d still think our odds be even.” Nano-Hart said as she laughed a bit and then as she looked at them, the two Outsiders and the forty-two outworlders.
“Well I think we can fight two of you, White Mage managed to fight you evenly and I think we can muster up that much energy.” Finn said as he walked forward and electric arms bounced off the ground and between his fingers, knocking tiny chunks of concrete out while he walked forward. Finn smiled a bit, he then pulled his arms to his side and stored his electricity again. Nano-Hart walked forward and then laughed a bit.
“Ah you mean Iren, that bitch got knocked up and we know that she won’t be fighting for a while, so then if you let us live then I think we’re going to have to knock that baby out of her.” Nano-Hart said as suddenly Finn found his hand shaking, standing still the nanobot looked down at Finn and laughed. “Oh and did you knock her up.”
“Shut up, we will make you pay for what you’ve done and what you done to this city, if you two are your army then we will make sure your country falls.” Finn threatened as he walked forward and raised his hand, only ten feet between him and the female nanobot. She could probably throw her arm out and transform Finn easily.
“Oh did you think we were the fighters in this, war, consider yourself and your army matched.” Nano-One said as he raised his hand and something started to move below ground and then out of the sewers, nanobot warriors rose, all covered in metal and some with energy marks. The army grew larger and larger as more and more nanobots came out of the sewers.
“Well then your brutal, but I think we still have ourselves a good match, the only second is who will throw the first ball?” Isaac said as he walked forward and then smiled looking at the army that he had to face. It would be hard and who knew if they would come out on top, this was the war of Carson City and the nanobots might start it or the Outsiders might.
“Good question, I see no reason to hold ourselves off.” Nano-One said as he put his hand into the air and the glowing ball flew into the sky. He looked up as it traveled higher and higher, the Outsiders and the nanobots being distracted as it flew into the sky. “And on my signal.”
“You know what to do, clear them out and spread them apart, make sure that the Kagens and Riftwalkers don’t get into any fights and keep them separate.” Finn said to Isaac as he backed up and put out his arms, he saw few sources for electricity but it seemed the Outsider would be playing the worse game of red rover to get more electricity, a stop light on the opposite corner of the square.
And then the ball exploded, a rainbow light shot out and the square was covered in light as Outsiders prepared for the fight. And then they moved together. The two forces clashed together, Finn quickly put out his arm but then he was tackled to the ground by a nanobot and lowly warrior.
“Haha, Outsider try to counter us now!” The nanobot yelled as above them Kagens, Riftwalkers and nanobot warriors all clashed. Finn threw him off and then kicking him to the side, stood up. Knocking him back into the crowd, the nanobot disappeared and Finn spread out his arms. Sparks flew from his hands and onto the Riftwalkers.
“Come on, let’s do this, and let’s get ready to fight!” Finn yelled out as suddenly a ball of electricity appeared in his hand and then he slammed his palm into the ground, a blue blast of sparks flew out and like a transformer explosion took out everything around it. Nanobot warriors fell to the ground and then Finn looked around.
“Ok plan two, split them from each other.” Finn whispered to himself as he crossed his arms and let electricity freely flow from his body. Holding his hands tight, sparks flew from his shoulders and legs as he put his foot back. Quickly twisting and kicking another nanobot out of the way, the Outsider turned towards the stoplight.
With all his might he threw himself forward and knocked some nanobots out of the way, Kagens and Riftwalkers alike dodged him, the Outsider running forward and knocking out nanobots, they were knocked to the ground and some over the crowds of fights, but a spilt was formed as Finn pushed forward.
“Come on nearly there!” Finn yelled as he ran forward and tried to shift the nanobots off his body. He was nearly there, still they grabbed him, his body was glowing like a party and he was lit up, but he was nearly at the stoplight and then as nanobots tried to pull him down to the ground, he broke through the crowds and they fell of his body.
And then as he grabbed the stoplight, the nanobots turned towards him. Finn quickly broke through the lights and absorbed the electricity in the signal. His body glowed and Finn felt energy restored to him. And then as he turned he felt fear strike him, a massive army of goop appearing. The mutants flowed out of the sewers, coming up and separating as bits of eyes and human flesh took form on the battle field.
Kagens and Riftwalkers found themselves surrounded as the mutants effortless slid through the nanobots and grabbed them by their feet. Kagens feel and the orange flames busted up through the crowd and while it knocked some back the Kagens were left nearly defenseless. Finn felt one grab his feet.
“Get the hell off!” Finn yelled as he threw it off, the one landing on the ground and then starting its way back. A group of them and nanobots exploded out as, Isaac forced an antigravity blast from his body. Finn backed up and saw as the group was surrounded, mutants filling in the square and trapping the Outsiders.
“Don’t worry no reason to fear, I think I might have called in a favor.” And then like that suddenly from the sky, Erick landed shooting at the mutants and knocking them into goop as behind him, another massive army appeared, this time a mix of soldiers and Outsiders, about a hundred Outsiders and a hundred militiamen.
“Now then boys make your commander proud, fire at anything metal and remember use your bayonets!” Erick yelled as the men he gathered swarmed past, Erick smiled at Finn and touching his finger to his hand, sent a telepathic message, “While everyone might have their price do remember, everyone has their own dirty secret as well.”
And then as shots fired out from automatic rifles and blasts of energy flew into the sky, the nanobots and the Outsiders started to fight. Finn looked amazed as the battle shifted back into their favor. Looking around, Finn’s eyes caught onto the metal body of Nano-One, Gene’s body flying through the crowd.
“Well then let’s battle you creepy bastard.” Finn whispered and them saw his little hole being closed by the new battlers. Finn knew he had to go one on one with the man and thus he jumped, standing on the heads of the nanobots, he saw a perfect opportunity and started to run towards his rival.
Jumping over the battle field seemingly Gene took notice and then he pushed away the nanobots, the mooks reacting as he spread out his hand and gave the two of them a nice sized battlefield. Landing with a roll and standing up the shark put his hand out and sparks flew out and stuck the ground. Pulling his hand back and letting the sparks fly through the nanobots behind him, Finn opened his mouth and allowed his sharp teeth to be shown off.
“I want blood on my hands, you took them away from me and I will take your life away from you, this is where your story ends and where you die alone, because once you’re gone no one will remember you.” Finn threatened as he nearly lost control of the electricity in his body, he held his position for a second and then decided not to strike quickly. “I met a lot of people and they would like me to do this.”
And then Finn blasted his hands forward, the thunder traveling along the ground and into Nano-One’s body, the metal beast shook for a second, his body suddenly growing in size and then shrinking down, plates like triangles spreading out like spikes on his body. The triangles broke down further into tiny fly like swarms of nanobots.
Gene started to walk forward, extending his hand as the battle of electricity went on. The metal clashing around them, seemingly acting as a symphony to their clash. Gene’s hand shifted into millions of nanobots in the air and then it collapsed back into a hand as it spread to his body, his face shifted, his teeth becoming jaded and then turning to black spikes.
“You will not win this fight; the future has been lost.” Gene spoke as his voice became lost in the explosion of his throat. The disturbance traveled down to his body and then to his legs and out of his feet, and then as more electricity was pumped into his hand it started over again. This time faster, the nanobot nearly getting shuffled as his body transformed into a barely shape only recognizable as triangles floated between swarms of nano-clouds.
And then something struck his back, the electricity was turned off and when that switch failed, Gene returned to his normal metal body. Suddenly Finn’s leg fell, as something swept it out. Falling and landing on his back, he looked above and saw the armored villain, Owlman. The man’s hands shifted as he raised a wing.
Quickly three feathers were stuck down, rolling out of the way, Tidus dodged the attack. Looking at the owl, he quickly got on his feet.
“They’re going to kill us, he’s going to kill us, the Master will kill us and then make us all equal, we will be the same.” Owlman panicky said as he raised his wings and the feathers were regenerated. The owl then jumped up and kicked Finn back, the shark was knocked through the crowd, the nanobots following orders and parting around him.
“Oh God!” Finn screamed as he felt his back knocked into a large wooden structure. Even then he broke through and only rough and callous rocks stopped his momentum inside a warehouse. The shark stood up and saw the path of destruction he had made. “Oh fuck physics.”
“Beware young Outsider, a storm is coming and thunder will strike, and when that flow of electrons hit then you will never have seen it coming and you will not be able to handle it.” Owlman spoke as he jumped over the crowds of nanobots and fighting Outsiders and entered the warehouse, behind him Nano-One and Nano-Hart appeared, Finn looked at them and he knew he had a fight on his hands.
They were in a warehouse, a few large storage shelves and stacked items all over, with some server boxes in the back. Finn put his hand up and felt his batteries were still filled. Firing two blasts of thunder, he ran towards a set of wooden steps and then climbed up them, onto the wooden ledge over the entire storage area.
Ducking an energy blast from Hart, Finn ducked as the entire gauntlet was thrown at him, quickly avoiding another blast of feathers and an energy strike. Finn overlooked the ledge and saw the look of death and the firing burning in his opponent’s eyes. This was going to be great, Finn told himself as he raised his defenses.
“Ok, maybe we need to just take a breath and calm down because, we’re getting out of hand and we’re getting just a bit crazy with this.” Finn yelled.
“As I walk through the valley in the shadow of death.” Owlman threw forward a blast of feathers and the two nano twins split off and started to walk up the side stairs. They walked slowly and surely with seemingly a bit of contempt as they raised their hands and started to form energy balls, all the while Owlman raised his feathers.
“Well then trapping me in, I’ll give you one second.” And then Finn counted under his breath. In a spilt second the energies and feathers traveled, the shark took in his information, of course the energies were the bigger deal traveling at the speed of information and what not, so why not take the path of least resistance. Finn screamed as he jumped forward and threw himself off the rail, thunder exiting his body and deflecting the feather swarm.
The shelves shook and items fell to the ground as the energy balls stuck and the top ledge was destroyed. Finn put his hands out and gathered his energy as he landed and prepared to strike at Owlman. But then suddenly the Owl retaliated and the wolf in a piece of Owl armor knocked him back. Like before Finn traveled through and watched seemingly in slow motion as the two nanobots appeared.
And then he stuck something, it was a server, his body crushed into it, and then he smiled. Electricity struck between his teeth, and like that Owlman knew his mistake.
“Fear not death Nanobots because as inhumans you have lost your right to such a human tactic.” Finn spoke as he walked forward and then allowed the lightning to travel between his fingers. He looked over to Gene and with the electricity from the server, he sent a supercharged blast of electricity over.
“No you can’t do this…” Gene yelled as thunder struck and instantly his body was turned into a swarm. His voice became more mutant like and more difficult to understand as his entire being was turned into a cloud of a billion tiny computing devices. “To… Us… We... Were… The… Master… Race…”
And then he exploded, goopified and turned into a layer of green goop and stayed on the ground as his person was overloaded. Finn turned towards Hart and raised his hands, she stood still her eyes focused on Gene. She gasped a bit and backed up but she never moved, all the while Owlman watched at a distance. And then like another lightning blast it struck her and in the same way she started to explode.
“I never got… to… be… fam… ous.”
The green goop exploded over the warehouse and then as Finn walked forward, thunder blasted out form his body hitting the walls of the warehouse and setting it on fire. Still the shark walked forward and he looked at Owlman.
“Fear me… I am the death incarnate… but he is, the Master will strike and you will regret us even more. And you Outsider, you are the shadow of death, where you go only more death will follow.” Owlman said and then Finn took pity on him, charging the blast further, he put his hand onto Owlman’s chest and then released it, the blast was instant and a layer of yellow goo and charred fur appeared. Finn regretted nothing and knew this was his revenge for his parents.
“The battle is over.” Finn announced as he walked out of the now burning warehouse and looked at the battle group, dead Outsiders and Soldiers, some Riftwalkers and regenerated Kagens but it inspired something. “Now then if in the future we can work together like this again, then maybe we can all find peace in this world.”
…
Finn sat down in the dark and dank lighting of the base, looking around everyone was looking at him and why wouldn’t they. He had just managed to take down three of the greatest enemies that they had faced with in the past three months, Finn felt a bit of pride surfacing but swallowed it out of fear of getting an Isaac like ego, strangely enough the shark was missing.
And then it hit him, suddenly the pieces fell into place, Isaac wanting a war between them and pushing him on, the pieces came into Finn’s mind and it all became all too great. And sitting down in the base with Iren, Erick and Ross all looking at him, Finn suddenly realized something, if this was true, then he was the monster.
“Just let the monsters inside.” Erick responded and then he nodded, Finn knew what he meant and like that he was off, he was going to kill Isaac. Or was he, would that make him better than the shark. And then like that Finn found himself back in the hospital, his body seemingly yo-yoing between the building these previous weeks.
As Finn walked up in the white room, curtains drawn he saw two beds and Isaac with a pair of flowers in his hand. Isaac was watching them; he was making sure they were okay. And his parents were laying there with blankets drawn, the right side of his father’s face covered and his step-mother’s hair burned off.
“I was wondering how long it would take you to realize that.” Isaac morbidly talked as he stood up and walked towards Finn, the Outsider was surprised as Isaac hugged him. “I know what I did was wrong but you needed to do that.”
“I did bad things during this battle, I killed three people with my own powers, they didn’t do anything to be killed.” Finn retorted as he tried to balance out his mortality again. Isaac laughed a bit but sat down and looked at Finn as he took a breath of the air around.
“Listen you’ve seen the three of them do bad stuff and it takes you to think your parents are dead in order to push you do something back, we need to be serious about it. While we might have lost some lives in the battle, the people that won’t turn into nanobots are being reduced.” Isaac spoke back as he sat back down into the chair and looked at Finn.
“I know but…”
“And we managed to convince all four fractions that they could work together the first step in getting a treaty between the Kagens and the Riftwalkers together and reducing the nanobots possible innovations. You might have failed your mortality test but you passed mine.” Isaac interrupted Finn again and tried to show the shark.
“Still, is this how far we have to go?” Finn asked as he broke down. He started to cry and nearly fell to the floor, before Isaac caught him with his powers. The gravity shark walked over and caught Finn.
“Listen if we want peace in our time, then we need to do this right, these aren’t some gang members, these are people who want to destroy the Earth and like that we need to act like this and act serious about this, and if we have to wage a war then we have to wage one. I’m sorry but I did what I had to.” Isaac embraced Finn and the two of them hugged, the beeping of his parent’s heartbeats in the background, so all was good in Carson City, as the city found itself being threatened by three groups and being trapped in but all was good in the city.
