Republic P-47D Thunderbolt (Bubble Canopy Version)
Capt. Rarey was an accomplished commercial artist before WW II who poainted much of the nose art of the 379th Fighter Squadron until his death in action in June 1944. After his death, Cpl. Joseph Carpenter, an armorer in the 379th, continued the paintings in the style of Rarey until the end of the war.
