Sleepy Yorkshire Sergal

I thought I'd have a go doing a scene just by digital colouring & I must say I am well chuffed with the results. This was also a piece done by experimenting with different layers. I started off colouring Grey, his bed, the walls & the window frames. The high & low lights on Grey was done on a different layer using the pencil brush on GIMP. All the other shading on the piece is fairly minor. The floor was also an experiment on making carpet. I made a new image with a maroon colour then high & low lights were added before blurring the whole image to give the effect it was a carpet. It kind of worked.
The window I am extremely pleased with. It's an image I found but what of? Well, America has Death Valley & Yorkshire has the Dales. I tell you, it was a bugger trying to find an image big enough. Most wallpapers are smaller than this image!! I placed the image on a layer behind the main image & erased the areas where the glass would be. Then I used the pencil tool with a low opacity to give the effect of glass. I wanted it to look like double glazing so I put more on the edges of a curtain & the window frames.
I reckon this is my best piece yet & I have two more pieces in the works (one of them of the slightly naughty nature) & I hope to please my watchers with those.
Also, see the detail I put in by zooming in on the coaster on his bed side cabinet
