Something to Say 2(Rant Below)
Hello everyone, Magnum here and I want to talk about something that has been bothering me for a while and I feel that if I don't get it off my chest I am gonna explode. Now what has been bothering me is something that is not new and is something that has carried over from Deviant Art and I am just trying to understand it from a logical point of view. Real quick before I get more into it, I just want to thank those who viewed, faved and voted on the Something to Say submission, though I was kind of also hoping to start a conversation with it like how I am trying to do with this one.
Long story short, I have at the time of this 42 watchers and overall close to 40,000 page views, most of which are on the fiction side of things with many parts having hundreds of views... and amazingly despite saying that it feels dead. What I mean by this is that despite having a good number of people "watching" me and a very good number of other people viewing what I post, very few of them really interact with anything I put out and I am starting to think a few are maybe bots or something along those lines, I can literally count on one hand how many interact with what I release on a regular basis... if even that.
SO I have a question for those that do watch me... why do you exactly? Because there is little faving, virtually no voting and no comments, there is no feedback what so ever! If you like what I produce, then actually show it instead of being dead silent, I am not asking to vote, fav and comment on every single thing... but come on, show some level of actual support please! Also, most of my "watchers" haven't faved or even voted on a single thing, which adds to the whole bot theory I have. And this also extends to those who don't watch me but also view what I submit.
This leads to me to saying this next thing, my fiction is by far my biggest view, fav and vote generator but it is dead silent in the comment section outside of very few examples. I would personally like to know how something can get hundreds of views and while getting a few favs, gets no votes and no comments! I will pull a few examples from my gallery, currently the part of the Magna-Verse called 'A Birthday Rut' is almost at 700 views, 4 favs but with no comments and and no votes, then we have Echo Part 3 which sits at almost 1,000 views, 1 vote, no favs and no comments! Seriously, what the HELL is going on? On top of this some drawings also have views in the low hundreds with maybe a single fav and single vote but no comments as well, I don't understand any of it! I would think with those kind of view counts the impact would be a lot better not just in favs but the votes and comments as well.
It's clear people enjoy what I do put out but I gotta be honest without solid feedback it just feels like I am being ghosted given the sheer number of views and such... and please if you see it on here, then show support on here, don't go to my Deviant Art and show the support there, especially if it is also on this platform, if you like it then show it with the statistics on what I post... I have had this happen a few times and while I do appreciate it, show it on SoFurry, is it a taboo I am missing or something? Why track me to my Deviant Art in the first place if you see it on here?
These are all valid questions that I more then likely won't get answers for, heck earlier this month when I got my hands on a drawing tablet, I openly asked if anyone had any advice or whatever to both try to get some form of engagement and to also see what others experience was in terms of learning it... and it was answered by nothing but dead silence...
I know I am not the most social person, but I do appreciate the interaction and when people show their interest like anyone else, as it really stands now it just feels extremely isolating and I knew I was gonna struggle on SoFurry starting out... but I never thought it would turn out like this because of how hard it seems, like I said previously, it just seems SoFurry is just so cut throat for no apparent reason.
