Saving The Familiars
Prologue
The hooded man walked through the dark forest listening to the sounds of swaying trees and nocturnal life. He stepped over roots an rocks carring on towards his destination. He pulled his leg away as a branch moved to block his foot, smiling in apology to the family of rabbits living in the trees hollow. One of the larger rabbit's hopped out to greet the mysterious stranger who happened upon his families den. The large rabbit stopped in front of the stranger as he bent down an the two shared a long look that ended with the man dropping some carrots on the ground, so the rabbit scooped them up nodding in thanks. Various pairs of tiny eyes watched the hooded man as he patted the tree, then continued on his way.
A few minutes pass as the hooded man traveled through the dark forest with a smile enjoying the night air. Suddenly a shrill sound pierced the night air, interrupting his peace. The sound of running is what followed as the forest became alight with flames and chaos. Many shadows danced around the burning trees as the man began to spread his arms outward. Darkness consumed the area around him an continued to grow, not stopping until the hooded mans arms lowered an all that one could see is darkness. Nothing was heard for minutes as the darkness blocked out everything, even the sound was nonexistent.
As the darkness started to fade the scenery was a shocking an confusing one. Bodies littered the forest ground and the flames all but gone. He stood silently, over the dead smoking trees, the whimpering an crying creatures, the cracked an charred ground, and the now silent an solemn night. The once hooded man sits on the ground holding a dead woman in his arms with tears falling down his caramel colored face. Three hooded figures stand around them similar tears falling to the ground. One comes foward and softly lays a hand on the man an starts to speak.
“ I am sorry Keath, she fought bravely and I know it hurts but you must live on for her."
The man slowly lifted his silver colored eyes up at the man then said, “I know, but i'm not leaving this place like this it's too precious to her!" Keath declared
“I agree Keath, this will be the place where the new generation will start a new way."
