Cannons are devastating weapons, but also dangerous to the ones who use them. That danger is far, far worse on Avalon. There are many magical ways to detonate a powder magazine from afar. The Mage's Guild knows them all, and their edict outlawing gunpowder is much more than mere wishful thinking.
