[i]"Defend yourself!"[/i]


Hey, first traditional artwork in 2015... and I'm really pleased about the result. ^^
The scene shows Reptile and Kyle in a training dojo. Don't worry, they're just sparring... are they not?
As a matter of fact, they're taking their training very seriously... with real blades!
;-)

Here's some trivia about this artwork.
In the beginning, I wanted to compose a typical "Action Comic Cover" styled artwork... both characters screaming towards the camera.
But it didn't work out. They didn't fit into the composition and I was really angry for some time!
Then... I placed Reptile behind Kyle... so that both blades touch each other.
AND that was it! A sparring fight scene... excellent!

Pencils, colour pencils, ink, markers, COPICS, acrylics and brush (no computer!)

NOTE:
After watching "The Hobbit" for a few times I started to love Smaug's tongue design. So... I assimilated the idea: Reptile's tongue has some "saw like" ridges deep in the throat.
Somehow, this gives his tongue a more... fierce and rather interesting look.

Oh... and this is the third time that I have drawn Reptile with open jaws like that.
It's cool but very difficult to draw.
