In the story, the dragon Alvaranox is bound by the power of the black collar to protect the town that placed it upon him, with his life if he must. The other important characters, the dragon's companions, are the woman who used to be his Handler, and the younger woman who took her place. If you love seeing dragons treated as actual flesh and blood characters with their own POV, or enjoy stories of dragons and humans, well, I think you'll enjoy The Black Collar.
