Writer's Note: Oh boy I am not an ideal author and I apologize that if you read this I am not responsible for any pain you occur from my horrible writing and the last time I wrote a book sized story it horrible grammar mistakes. I tried better since that time and I hope that this is more enjoyable.
Granting a child a Life
Dragon gift allows life to live
A human life he lives
til blazing fire, Child's Guardians killed
Dragon's fear Begun Child's Despair
Laying there ,coughing and wheezing, hidden in a bush... Giles Hayland, a scholar's boy and leader of the village just the age of 9 covered in ash and light burns. His family was slain before his eyes except a few children and women that where hiding nearby. Crimson Red was littered on the ground as a grotesque display of bodies. The night was only true reason he was unseen even with the blazing fire these devils of men set on the home he knew. His vision fading in and out because of the smoke. He couldn't move til they left, no matter how much he wanted to fight back. There was no way he could do anything to those bandits as fear was the anchor that kept him alive.
The moment ended when they took off, picking up their ill gotten goods and taking off into the night. Giles was shocked that he couldn't cry, his hands was shaking and standing up was difficult. Then like a fury he let out a massive cry curling up his fists and pounding the ground letting out everything he felt. Others came over to join him in his anguish.. one woman, a friend of his mother hugged him. His family laid together in a crimson puddle.
A Roar came as a massive gust of wind went over the village. Almost extinguish the fires riddled on the buildings in the village a creature flew overhead in the direction of the bandits as a explosion and light went. The sounds of horses scared and metal being clanged, a battle was being made and since of a hill blocking the view.
It wasn't long til the sound stopped except the creature. Everyone in the village went and hide again. Giles in the arms of the woman that hugged him earlier. It seemed like something in this world favored the village and since it was attacked, something came to its aid in feeling of almost poetic justice. The creature walked closer as steps rocked closer as it stood in the center.
Gile looked at this creature, it was s white dragon with golden horns that point outward holding bags of loot... similar that his mother and father told him about in stories. Not the norm where the dragon captures the damsel... more like a guardian or wise creature who would take action where needed. However this creature stared at his parents... dropped the bags and almost was morn their deaths. It looked at Gile and the remaining villagers. It was clear... the dragon was crying... feeling the same despair that the villagers have. Placing the bags together the dragon took off.
As the Exhaustion finally took hold, Gile fainted. Dreams started to grow as questions spinned in his head, “Why did that dragon help us?", “Why did those bandits attacked our village?", “what was the point of setting our homes on fire?" til one question came up, “Why was that dragon crying?" Gile became fixated on this question. Then the stories must be true... could this dragon be his guardian angel?
– Next Day –
The women and children that where able to help to do what they can to clean up. A few others and Gile remained in a house as some of the kids played trying to forget. There was still crying but Gile out the window, almost in a trance, thinking about that dragon. A Beast that came to the aid of the village quickly and didn't harm any of the villagers. Letting out a sigh... this dragon was his angel and wanted to thank the mighty beast.
“Gile, Are you ok?" A younger girl asked tugging on his arm.
“what?, oh Angie, I... I think I am, I can't... stop thinking of..." he stopped as he didn't want the younger ones to cry, but his tears where pooling til they started to roll off. “I... 'll be ok angie... thank you." kindly excusing himself as he left the house. Angie stared but ultimately went back to having fund with the other children.
Not all the villagers where here when the attack took place. Many are merchants that head to nearby towns to do trade and this was the time of the season to sell goods. Many leave early as they got brokers to handle all the selling of goods. They where on their way back, and one of them returned as exchanges of knowledge of yesterday. One adult seemed very displeased, Gile never liked him, he always made fun of everyone and even though other adults didn't notice he would do some dark and twisted jokes and pranks to the younger kids. They where always scared of him, Jackson, was always to be avoided. Gile got chills down his spine as Jackson walked away. Nonetheless dealing with Jackson was the last thing Gile wanted.
Jackson was like the bully to all the small kids even though he was a young adult he took great joy in harming the kids mental state. All of them that dealt with him really feared his actions. He always did it so the adults wouldn't notice. Gile almost hated
“Rebecca, What in hell happened?! Where is my husband!" A familiar female voice called. “WHY IS OUR HOME DESTROYED!" her voice boomed in anger.
“Chris, we where attacked last night as bandits came to loot our village and set it ablaze." Rebecca responded, she was the same woman that was close to Gile during the whole ordeal. “They caught Mr. Hayland off-guard and his wife as she begged them to stop." she stop as she started to cry.
“These bastards... Where did they go?" Chris demanded, “I will pull in the court, they will send a army to kill these bastards." by this time Gile was next to Chris.
“They're already dead..." Gile stated, as Chris face instantly went from anger to shook as she looked at Gile, “A Dragon came in over there past the hills." He pointed. “And killed them... It came back here but dropped off bags and took off."
“Is... he telling the truth?" Chris turned to the women as they nodded or stayed silent. “I am going to look."
It was really quiet til Chris came back as she rubbed her neck. “Ok, It seems we got work todo, MEN! Get started on cleaning up, its not right to let a fellow ladies to all the work. We need to bury these people." She commanded then looking at Gile, “Gile, since I haven't had children this will be hard for us... but this day forward... I am going to be looking after you." She went down and placed her hand on Gile as he cried and hugged her.
– 2 Years Later –
Jackson became the Village leader as no other person wanted to take the position or wasn't old enough to do so. Gile even taller than normal yet still very skinny had reservations of this role and the young teenagers also had similar feelings but being scared of him didn't want to say anything. Once everyone was taking their leave Chris in slightly drunken said to Gile, “I dunno why that piece of... shit got to be leader... that asshole always tried to ruin me. But I have no reason to live here ssseh gilly... aha" chuckled at the nickname as Gile annoyed to take care of her like he always does. “ You should have been leader Gilly, you have more gumson than most solders do. Your always studying, training to be stronger even if your a toothpick."
Gile grunted, “Chris please, lets get you to your wagon and some water." as he loaded her into her home, Jackson was not far behind.
“Hey Gile!, you yet to pay your respects to your chief!" He boasted with an ego. “I am going to be a better leader than your weakass father." Gile wanted so hard to punch him. “Now kiss my hand like a good little underling you really are." his smile dark and almost twisted.
“Hey you Jackson, I will be the SHIT outta you if you harm him." Chris got out of her home. “I should have put you in place ages ago!" her fists ready.
Jackson Laughs, “Like you old Hag can beat me!" and with that Chris quickly punches him in the face, “YOU BITCH!" He swings his fist and misses her.
“I am only 38, you punkass so called bigshot!" with anger blooding through her... it seems like the alcohol losing its grip on her. Gile stepped back, as he knew Jackson going to get hurt. Grabbing his head she ganked him back as he fell in the mud. “I can't stand the shit you give to the other kids. Keeping them quiet all this time." she punched him again as he was getting up. Clearly losing this fight he reached to his back pocket and lunged forward. He had a blade in his hand. Gile noticed and tried to react but since he was too far the deed was done.
“Get off her you fucker!" Gile punched Jackson who at this point was exhausted and laughing.
“That what you get hag!, don't fuck with me!" he got up and walked back to the village.
“Chris are you ok!?" Gile said in shock looking at the stab, he notice something, a green ooze in the cut. It was poisoned and now he had no choice but to rush to town. Using all his strength getting her into her wagon and getting the animals to quickly rush the wagon.
“Gile.... I... Think... Jackson... did... Something..." Chris muttered
“Not now Chris keep your strength up. I am getting you to a Cleric." Gile was panicking but focused. Thankfully the town wasn't that far... It was about half an hour. As they stopped and Gile grab chris, the poison was clearly moving through the veins.
“HELP!, SHE NEED HELP!" He yelled for the cleric.
As a figure came out of a house, a woman of more mature age looked and instantly sprung to action, “Oh no, get her on the table." they rushed in, as the cleric quickly started to heal her. “green-shade venom, A assassins tool..." Gile went wide eyed, “will you be able to save her?"
“Yes, but this was effected her greatly... I need to focus." Cleric answered.
Gile walked outside, and collapsed to the floor. Chris was his mother ever-since that day. He couldn't stand for another loss. She was the only family now, and if she left him now, he would never recover.
He waited there which seemed like forever, he could hear her pains and coughing. Her cries of pain and suffering. His soul shaking and pounding as he listened, til it stopped... normal breathing as the cleric walked out and said, “I have stabilized her for now. She wants to talk to you..."
Gile rushes in almost knocking over the cleric and gets to the table.
“Gile, Jackson... He was responsible for the attack of the village... I had no real proof and dealing with repairing the village, he was never angry that the village was attacked..." Chris said as she breathed deeply and Gile frozen from the statement, she continued, “Those bandits... had the same markings as the guild he controls... I didn't know til recently when I was made aware of his dealings... I need you to stay away form him Gile... He has his hands in everything and with the royals themselves."
“He... HE NEEDS TO PAY!" Gile slams the table as the Cleric Yells, “HEY Don't Break my table!" clearly it made sense but it be too easy. Jackson would be the first to point too if enough people really paid attention.
“Gile... Gile... I was scared of him... and when he got his position it made it all clear. He has the deed to the whole village. The land is highly valuable even being on the edge of the kingdom." Chris got up halfway, having no covering over her torso as they feel down. “I need you to understand, Jackson is going to get whats coming to him... You cannot start something without proof... specially when the evidence was handled by him directly." Gile heart dropped and as he covered his eyes. “There is something you said as a little boy, how a dragon saved you... It made me wonder and look into it on the side." The cleric got her a robe, “When I did it seems that the dragon almost non existent... the records about such a beast been long gone. It because of your Father... He cleared all record of the beast. Your Father was protecting it. Jackson only wants the land so he can be the ruler... he only craves power."
Gile looks at chris, “I can't just let this go... if he isn't... there nothing I could do to stop him."
“but the dragon could..." Chris stated.
“The dragon was only a guardian... well the stories my father told me anyway... I don't even know if the dragon is even around anymore. We even looked into this as I was with you. No one even heard of such a creature." Gile stated holding his arm.
Soon there was many solders outside of the house. A commander begun to speak, “You are under arrest for acts against the crown." they all jumped.
“No fucking way... WHAT IS GOING ON!?" Chris blusts clearly the healing has done its effect or Chris has more constitution than most humans have.
“quickly in here." the cleric leads them in a underground pathway. With some difficulty they get chris down there and sealed the pathway. They start going down the path.
“Why do you have this?" Gile asked.
“Because the crown is becoming more vile and anyone that isn't with them is killed... something dark been looming over the kingdom for a years now.... only now it has manifested as its grip." Cleric replied.
Chris and Gile start making their way down the path. It was dark but straight path made it clear where to go.
“My name is Jane, as I didn't get to introduce myself sooner, who are you?" Jane introduced herself.
“I am Gile Hayland and this is my guardian Chris." Gile introduced.
“So I assume the rumors are true that the Clerics have a target on their back." Chris added.
“Yes, It seems that the greed the royals have made has upset the balance that nature has placed." Jane sighed, “those guards where after me."
“Seriously!, So Jackson is only an asshole not a real threat." Chris relived.
“But if he has pull in guilds then he might be good friends of the royals." Gile stated.
“He can make people fear him, a trait that evil likes to favor." Jane added.
Sighing they get to a doorway with light on the bottom. Jane rings the bell three times in a quick pattern. A eye slot opens up and a male voice says, “password"
“Veni, Vidi, didici, Vici " Jane Responded as the slot closes and door opens. As they get into a tavern. Once they all pass the door is closed “Burn my access... I am being followed." as the whole room gets silent.
“So it started esse" A Cat-morph male holding a dagger, “what should we do captain?"
“Send a message to the other Captains.. Let them know I was attacked." Jane added, “also get that woman some clothes. I don't think she will like staying in the dirty robe forever." as Chris nods as she chilly since escaping.
“Captain, The work for the godslayer summon is almost complete. We need to find the dragoness in the area and ask for her help to finish the ritual." Another male stated.
“Yes... That dragoness has been in the dark for 2 years and we are unable to locate her but with old notes should be able to find her" The cat-morph stated. “We need to get the final components."
“Take a team..." Stated Jane as Gile interrupted, “This dragoness... what does she look like?... oh sorry, I... need to know."
“Its a wise white dragon with gold horns, this lass is been known to the elderaly to keep the kingdom safe but since the true king bloodline has been removed form the kingdom... the so called royals becoming more demanding as attacks of monsters has been increasing and towns have been ransacked." cat-morph explained.
“Chris, I... I need to take part in this team... If this dragoness is the one that saved me... I must atleast pay my respects." Gile pleaded as chris grumbled, “FINE!, not like I have nothing better to do... all my stuff is most likely gone now."
“ahah, I have no issues, another body another set of eyes helps us more... by the way since we are going to work together my name is fred silvershift." cat-morph introduced.
Jane grinned,"Your father was James Hayland?" having a hand on her chin.
“Ya, my father was killed 2 years ago..." Gile added.
“OH ho ho ho!, I am sure your find that dragoness, The Harold for her was your father and mother. She almost considered them her kids." Jane stated as the tavern brust into laughing til Jane rose her hand as the whole room went silent.
“what?.." Gile asked as nearby patron placed a hand over his mouth as he looked at this patron a woman placed her hand to give a “Sshhhh" the faint but clear footsteps above clearly metal in nature. Til a 3 patterned stomp was made to say “all clear" everyone resumed as some bodies came down.
“Our communication with her has been distant, and its the only reason why we have a chance of removing these royals form power. We must summon this "
“ALEX!" the tavern residents greeted the armored fellow.
“Oh good Jane is here!" He moved over to whisper to her ear.
“I see... good... we will be heading out in the morning." Jane responded.
Gile and Chris got something to eat til they where sent to get some rest. It was a early raise tomorrow.
As the sun hasn't raised yet, Gile was awaken form his sleep as knocking, “Hey boy-o, its time to get ready, if you're not ready then you being left behind." fred informed as Gile quickly got up by falling on the ground. Looking for chris, it was clear she was already awake as her bed was already made. He jumped up as he pulled up his pants and shirt. Rushing down to the main room everyone was there. Its time to find his Guardian Angel.
It was pretty cold as Gile shiver in the cold as he and the party was searching the forest. The sun was finally coming up from its own slumber. Chris was ahead of Gile as she was far more fit even though dealing with poison wasn't enough to keep her down. The trees where tall and thick, and the horrid cliffs of the nearby peaks made some traversal a bit harder.
As the winds changed almost pulling Gile slightly. Made him wonder as a feeling in his heart was pulling him up the cliff. “Hey, I have a feeling something is over there." Gile told the other party members. Chris turned around and looked, “ok, just be careful I am going to head this way." Gile nodded as he headed to a plateau. Some vines hanged on the side, after testing their strength and being a active kid he knew how to climb. As he went up some bugs flew by him, almost making him fall from blowing them away with his hand, getting stable and letting out a sigh, he contained.
Once getting to the top and pulling himself away from the edge of the cliff. He started to head to the center of the raised forest. It wasn't long til he saw a large cave opening, in excitement he rushed to the opening at a fast pace only to have his foot get caught in the vine and tumble to the ground. Rolling on the ground hitting a few rocks along the way finally hitting his head and passing out.
It was dark when Gile opened his eyes, in some pain getting up he saw the dragoness looking at him. “Good your finally awake, I finally get to meet you face to face..." A female voice sounded. Gile froze for a moment as the dragoness laugh, “I would guess you be a bit scared to see someone you haven't met that towers over most homes." She closes in, “I don't eat humans, well ones that are not evil. Well your not evil are you?" she asks with a snicker, “I joke, I joke... I am just so excited to meet my soo.... oh, You may not know... He was posed to tell you but that day... he didn't get the chance."
Gile was now confused, “I am sorry but I don't even know your name."
She paused,"Oh, I am so embarrassed... I am Rydenna, The Wise. I protected this Realm for 4 generations."
Gile bows, “I am honored to meet you Rydenna."
“Oh, how a gentlemen... Welcome to my lair" as Rydenna blows a white flame as she lights all candles. As the room lights up there is a pile of books and many shelves of books. Some very large tables for a dragon with some science equipment. “though dragons are known to hold treasure, what more mightier than knowledge?" She asks.
“I never got to read much after my parents past away." Gile shrugged then realized about the other reason he was here,"apologies, as something ill is happening in the kingdom..."
“The 'Royals' have been making their moves... good thing they don't know my existence or think I am not around... You must have met up with the Captains then." She guessed.
“Yes, Though my main reason was to meet you it seems that you have the final component for a summoning spell or something." Gile Answered.
“The latter, Its more like a beacon of advanced sciences that normal magic doesn't follow and can't be easily negated." She continued as she reached for a red book, “This way the Royal's can't stop It's return... well I could say 'he' but 'he' has many forms... A Godslayer." pointing at the open book with a illustration of a man holding a sword of light, a jacket of crimson with golden edges and a poofy rounded hat. “The Executor"
Gile wide eyed, “Why haven't this Godslayer been summoned sooner?"
“Because, If we summon too soon or too late, then he wouldn't show up... also there is many problems summoning such a creatue. I am not sure if the planet could handle the impact."
Gile wondered, “If we summon this Godslayer, how do we know if he will...?"
“Help us?, I talked to him before as he is like a grandmo- father to me." Rydenna stumbled on her words for a moment, “I trust the executor on many levels that's why the captains have been collecting for me for my shard to activate."
“Shard?, like a crystal?" Gile Asked.
“heh, yes, something that you and I share... Something I must inform you about... though you body is human in nature, you soul and brain is like mine." Rydenna sigh, “I... am like your 3rd parent..."
Gile interrupts, “ Now what a minute, what are you talking about?, there is no way I am part dragon."
Rydenna asks, “No, but do you want to be one?" which Gile pauses as she adds, “The reason your a human is because your body was a stillbirth."
Gile shocks, “what?"
“When you where born, you came out too early... your brain wasn't developed enough to handle life and without action would have been the end of your story before it even began." As a tear rolls down her face, “I took one of my shards and injected into your head... This allowed you to live however it comes with a price."
Gile dropped to his knees, “what.... what price?"
“your body's code wasn't prepared for a transformation... additionally with you not developed it made this mutation that make your shard unable to fix. Gile... you..." Rydenna choked up as its clear she didn't want this for him, “On the eve of your 18th birthday, your body will die... and if left outside of a body your shard will lose it's spark and could be lost forever." this point she was unable to control her emotions, “I... only wanted them to be happy... with you..."
Gile stood up and walked over to her, hugging her head, “Thank you, mother..." Rydenna world seemed to pause in that moment. She was worried that Gile would hate her, for doing something that would be horrific in the eyes of her peers. Something that could have sentence her to death. It was well worth it, Maybe someday he will choose a new path and escape his collapsing prison.
“Your Welcome... My child." Rydenna cried, hugging him back.
