I’ve been meaning to update my S&W White Box reference sheets for a while, and finally did so with modifications to bring them in line with the latest version of White Box: Fantastic Medieval Adventure Game (the second printing). My goal was to put just the most-used information on two pages. with a bit of room left for some public-domain art. The White Box: FMAG reference sheets are available in PDF format, or click on the image below.

Note that the author of White Box: FMAG, Charlie Mason, has a referee screen available in PDF format, with much nicer art and a few more pages of information (suitable for making your own referee screen). However, the undead turning table in the official referee screen has not yet been updated to the latest rules version.

I’ve created what I think is a better looking version of my Swords & Wizardy WhiteBox Reference Sheets. I based it on the excellent open document format BFRPG supplements, with two columns, and even added a few public-domain bits of artwork. I kept it to two pages of what I think are the most-used tables, but let me know if you can think of anything that would be useful to add. I’ve been thinking of incorporating my underworld random encounter tables to a longer version.

I like to have a game’s core tables handy when I’m GM’ing, without having to flip through a book or PDF. Two one-sided pages of tables is typically perfect for most old-school games. I created refsheets for Swords & Wizardry Whitebox a while back, and have done the same with two pages of reference sheets for the X-plorers scifi rpg.

I use a version of these Swords & Wizardry Whitebox Reference Sheets at the gaming table (mine have some house rules on them, I’ll save those for another post). They have just the basics from the latest 3rd edition of the Whitebox rules – two pages with character advancement, attack tables, weapons, equipment, movement, turn undead and morale checks. I like to write one-page dungeons with monster stats and the key written on the map, so these sheets are just enough for me not to have to refer to the rules (much) during play.
