The Insight
Mikron is a multi-award-winning theatre that was founded in 1972. Each summer, they tour the UK – reaching every conceivable type of venue and audiences that other companies cannot.
What makes Mikron different from most Theatres, is the fact that they travel to their audience, rather than the audience travelling to see Mikron.
Mikron started their life travelling the UK via their narrowboat. As they’ve grown and become more popular, they still use the narrowboat, but also venture inland so they can reach more people.
Mikron approached us to help refresh their brand identity and website so they could attract a younger audience, whilst not eliminating their current audience. They also needed help in making sure they still retained donations from their loyal customer base, as well as other funders, such as the Arts Council.
The Challenge
We gave the Mikron brand a refresh, making sure we retained everything that made them special whilst helping giving it a modern feel, so that it could appeal to a wider audience.
Their notorious narrowboat is iconic to Mikron and their customer base. We took inspiration from this, would also played on the fact that they also travel inland too.
We gave Mikron the purpose ‘Theatre Where You Are’ – which simply encapsulates what they do, and stand for.
Once we finished the new brand identity, we then worked closely with the Mikron team to redesign and rebuild a custom website that would help them sell online, and manage their exhaustive programme of work.
Because Mikron are the most prolific Theatre company in the UK, with over 130 shows every year, they needed a website that could support their packed schedule.
