With all the studies conducted related to the use of mother tongue-based multilingual education (... more With all the studies conducted related to the use of mother tongue-based multilingual education (MTB-MLE) in instruction, there is very limited data of the documentation of the lived experiences of the teachers in MTB-MLE. This paper documented the experiences of 10 teachers in MTB-MLE in Southern Leyte, Philippines by determining the meaning of teaching in MTB-MLE as far as the teachers are concerned, including the successes and problems in the implementation. This study employed the hermeneutic phenomenology research design. Participants were asked to share their experiences in MTB-MLE teaching through questionnaires, personal interviews, and text messaging. The data gathered generated 5 themes, which included the use of more than one vernacular as a medium of instruction in communication development, commitment to being globally competitive, limited applicability due to the superiority of English and insufficient materials, burden caused by the complexity of the vernacular, and optimism to accept the responsibility. This study concluded that the MTB-MLE curriculum is a welcomed addition to the ever-challenging tasks of the teachers. Additionally, teachers understood their role and saw the challenge given by the addition of MTB-MLE in the curriculum but accepted the challenge by realizing their importance to the success of the MTB-MLE.

The data mined from the World Health Organization and the CIA fact book were analyzed using the descriptivecorrelation method. It was found out that the total number of registered vehicles has a direct correlation with the number of road traffic deaths, while the total length of road networks has only an indirect correlation. These results supported the postulate of the Multiple Causation theory of accidents. It is recommended that reducing the number of vehicles on the road is key to the reduction of road traffic deaths. Keywords: global distribution of road deaths, total length of road networks, number of registered vehicles

This study focused on finding the hidden dimensions of recent international migration using an emerging statistical tool called fractal statistical inference, which is a method that stemmed out from the theory of Benoit Mandelbrot. Utilizing the descriptive-correlational design to describe the current pattern of international migration to look for hidden dimensions, this study found out that the 2013 global distribution of international migrants is no longer a fractal distribution. It further revealed that, although not the only factors, human development index and the number of refugees are the hidden dimensions of modern international migration distribution. This study concluded that the Push-Pull Theory of Migration by Lee is still applicable.

This study intended to uncover the hidden dimensions of the global prevalence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus using the descriptive-correlational design through fractal statistical analysis and regression analysis. The data on the global distribution of the percentage of the population ageing 15 to 49 infected with HIV from the World Health Organization was analyzed through fractal statistical analysis to find if the distribution has veered away from the state of nature and determine hidden dimensions. Initial analysis revealed that the current state of distribution of the percentage of population ageing 15 to 49 infected with HIV is still in the fractal state. Also, this study established that political stability score, per capita GNP and the country's distance from Congo, were the hidden dimensions of the current state of distribution of the percentage of population ageing 15-49 infected with HIV. This paper concluded that the spread of HIV is influenced by individual, social, and structural factors. In addition, maintaining peace and striving for economic prosperity are also major weapons in battling the spread of the disease in addition to advances in medicine.

Using fractal analysis, the number of underlying dimensions associated with such phenomenon was determined using the global distribution of carbon dioxide emission mined from the United Nations Development Program reports. It was found out that the global carbon dioxide distribution is no longer in its natural state (the distribution being not fractal), with fossil fuel consumption and the level of economic development as the major factors of its current state of distribution. Finding alternative ways to reduce fossil fuel consumption is recommended since currently the world is very much dependent on fossil fuels.

Using the descriptive-correlational method, a survey was conducted to 456 residents of a rural area in the Philippines. The results showed that social acceptability of physical abuse was significantly correlated to its prevalence but not sexual, emotional and economic violence. This suggested that women may continue to suffer from physical violence because it is socially acceptable. Furthermore, the finding implied that finding ways to change the perception of the society towards physical violence is important.
