So! HAPPY NEW YEARS. I spent my time GMing a pregen for Fear Itself on the fly. Even though we got derailed, it was mostly to hilarious player anecdotes, so it wasn't a total loss. I also drank absinthe out of a Weis glass. CLASSIEST START TO THE DECADE I COULD HAVE ASKED FOR.
New year means YULETIDE REVEAL. I wrote after a warm winter's grip, for Trish, Natsume Yujincho. I picked up this fandom on the fly, so I was super paranoid about the fic in general because I hadn't gotten much in the way of comments, but the recip squeaked in under the deadline and bam, less paranoia. Whatchagonnado.
I haven't made my way into the Yuletide archive as thoroughly as I'd like to have had, this year, but I did beta a whole list of amazing things. They are, in mostly chronological order:
Never Forgotten - Dawn, the Mallorean. A bit of fixer-upper, the untold epic of Cyrandis and Zakath.
Broken, We Crossed the Perblances - sherold, Doctrine of Labyrinths, Monnette Set between books 3 and 4, a few moments in traveling between Mildmay and Felix.
To Each His Thunder, Rain and Wind - labellementeuse. Young Wizards. Austin AU, and I think an awesome one. There totally needs to be a Dari companion piece, and it needs to not be written by me, despite the temptation. Really. Stop looking at me like that.
Mom: (talking about the SUPPORT CANCER RESEARCH walk she went on yesterday) There were all these fratboys--where was my cone of silence? Where was my cone of silence? Me: ... Me: Wrong edition. That's a wizard spell now, Mom. Mom: ... Mom: [walks off looking disgusted]
...also, I haven't played D&D in forever, maaaan. I had to look that up. :|
Dear Claritn and coffee: You are the two substances that are the LIGHTS OF MY LIFE right now let me tell you. The pollen count haets me. Please don't stop working. - me.
I keep wanting to have time to type out the GRAND SAGA that D&D has brought to my life because, hell, it's very much the time to have Gamer's Oral History, but I should really focus. Instead, a tip of the hat to half the force that shaped my life in so many ways that I canot enumarate, down to being used as metaphors my mother used for good behavior and teamwork as a kid, and I'll leave it at that.
I also had a weird dream in which Bonten, I and a Sparticus were livng together as some sort of weird end-of-days romate sitcom. We traded earings at some point. I was some sort of...crowbeardemon and I was Sparticus's cousin? It didn't make a lot of sense.
I'm also thinking about drawing CFUD landscapes. ONLY TIME WILL TELL IF THIS IS A SLEEP DEPRIVATON THING.
School starts today, and Isaac leaves today and I have work today. Boo. There went that break. Part of the joy of not having much internet except in places where I can find it (much like mining in ye olde MMORPG) is that I've spent a lot of time reading and media consuming. Some highlights include!
PEOPLE. That is unspeakably horrible. More went wrong there than just the disrespect for their partnership, though it does do a lot to illustrate why everyone needs access to marriage.
