Some languages use the near-close near-back unrounded vowel which has a more centralized sound than a typical [ɯ]. The International Phonetic Alphabet has no official symbol for this sound, but it can be showed as [ɯ̽] (mid-centralized ⟨ɯ⟩) or [ɯ̞̈] (lowered and centralized ⟨ɯ⟩).
