28 Years Later is an post-apocalyptic horror movie. It is expected to be released on 20 June 2025.[4] It was directed by Danny Boyle. He also helped co-produce it with Alex Garland, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, and Bernie Bellew.[5] It is the third movie in the 28 Days Later trilogy, following the 2002 movie 28 Days Later and the 2007 movie 28 Weeks Later. A sequel to 28 Years Later titled 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple was shot back-to-back.[6]
Plot
[change | change source]In the movie, a group of survivors on a British island try to live their lives while surrounded by people infected with the Rage Virus. A young boy goes out to search for a doctor to try and help his mother who is dying.[7]

Production
[change | change source]Principal photography began on 7 May 2024 in Northumberland and finished on 29 July.[8][9] The film "28 Years Later" premiered on June 19, 2025 at the Tyneside cinema in Newcastle upon Tyne, with director Boyle and local actor Williams in attendance, along with many members of the technical crew, service providers and extras from across the Northumberland region who participated in the filming.[10]
