I'm co-writing Patrick Kane/Tyler Seguin commentfic where Tyler had an epic teenage crush on Kaner and is currently pining over him (in a Tyler Seguin kind of way) in Switzerland because he thinks he is dating Tazer (spoiler: he isn't) over here. I'm not entirely sure where it is going but I'm enjoying myself.

I don't even know what these guys look like but as this was adorable and made me really want to take a winter holiday in Wales again, I'm giving it a definite thumbs up.

Johnny was 14 when it first happened. He was out on the backyard rink his dad built, skating around with David as the sun was setting, and the two of them started arguing after David tripped Johnny to get the puck off him. It shouldn't have been a big deal, since Johnny didn't exactly always play by the rules either, but David pulled his new obnoxious teenager act in response and it made him so mad.
The almost daily updates of this fic are filling me with so much happiness. I love the thoughtful and considered way deepbluemermaid is crafting this au, where Jonathan Toews deals with having a potentially dangerous superpower as well as a budding career in the NHL.

I'm slowly catching up with my backlog of comments as some of you may have noticed. Back when I didn't talk to people much, I couldn't imagine this happening. *sigh* I get very frustrated when I start talking to someone about a really interesting topic or someone asks for something in a meme, but then something gets in the way (work, usually) and I never end up replying. I just want to talk about stuff with you all!

At the moment I'm mostly thinking about Dick Grayson. That isn't unusual, but what is unusual is that this time he's giving me a headache.

I'm writing a story which starts with Steph going out wearing Barbara's old Batgirl-suit, much like Cass did in Batgirl #45.

Barbara was surprisingly mellow about the whole situation when Cass did it. To be honest, I've never been entirely convinced by the characterisation as part of me feels that Babs would be more upset. I suppose that it is possible that Barbara got all those feeling out of the way seeing Helena in the Batgirl/Batman uniform during No Man's Land and she was the one who chose pass on the mantle of Batgirl to Cass and that makes all the difference.

I'm wondering what would happen if Dick unexpectedly came across Steph (when she is Batgirl) dressed in Babs' old costume. What would his reaction be? I'm leaning towards blind anger both for himself and on Babs' behalf, but then going home to Alfred, venting about it and calming down and deciding that it is none of his business. I'm debating how it would change the way he looks at Steph especially as I'm trying to write eventual Dick/Steph.

I've been talking about this with musesfool but I still can't make up my mind.

What on earth is up with the livejournal rss feed? I follow a bunch of ljs through Google Reader and this morning they all seem to have filled Reader with every post ever. I'm assuming this is an lj thing because the rss of other blogging services seem to be working as normal.

In other news writing is hard and I badly want to talk about Sucker Punch.
ETA This is what I thought about it.

There is a headcanon meme going on over on tumblr and it's been making me think because I'm not sure that headcanon is something that I have. Or at least not in the way that other people seem to express it. I'm more about the infinite range of possibilities and sometimes I feel that every time I think about characters they are different. I just don't have that collection of concrete facts about them in my head.

So I guess what I'm wondering is - when you do those memes do you have hard and fast facts for your characters or do they change with time and you just talk about what feels right at the time of answering?

I've been watching a lot of Fringe and I'm up to 3.05 and ( vague spoilersCollapse ) I'm going to have to look for some old episode discussion and eventually fic.

This week my favourite DC Characters are Wally West, Stephanie Brown, Jason Todd, Kate Spencer (Manhunter) and Bilal Asselah (Nightrunner) and my favourite ships are Steph/Tim and Bruce/Wally (the Justice League versions). I'm certain this will all change next week.

While LJ was gone yesterday, I finally got around to uploading the rest of my fic to AO3 so I now have a now a grand total of seven stories! Somehow I don't think I'll ever be a prolific writer but I am slowly working on some things.

Ugh! I'm so sleepy and I'm trying to finish writing my notgreenorblue fic. Research for it involved lots of freerunning vids, which was nice. Unfortunately I keep getting distracted from my writing by new Young Justice fics appearing on my f-list. Apparently I now ship Artemis/Wally? I don't even know. He is such a jerk in this show.

On the positive side the commuting cat has decided that my lap is the place to be and is keeping me warm.

1. Decisions, decisions. Do I make the trip to my comic shop on Saturday to get this month's comics or do I wait another week until the next issue of Red Robin comes out and pick them all up then? I had it perfectly worked out because Batgirl, Red Robin, Batman and Robin and Birds of Prey all came out on the same day and those are my favourites. Now they've changed the schedule *sulks* It's only about 20 minutes away by train but somehow it still manages to take up my entire Saturday but I don't want to wait another month to read Red Robin.

2. I bought a new mouse for my computer because the gel on my old one had gone all bubbly and started leaking (IDEK). It is pink and awesome!

3. Every time I think that I am completely uninterested in a particular comics character or pairing - I come across an issue or fanfic that changes my mind. e.g. I never thought I'd find Rose Wilson (Ravager) interesting until I read about her in Nightwing and in The Titans (she used to baby sit Lian!!!) It gives me hope that someday I'll grow fond of Raven (the comics version, I mean. I adore Raven and her world weary voice in the Teen Titans cartoon).

4. Countdown by genre (Under the Red Hood. Jason Todd. Gen, PG-13 )
There’s a feeling of wrongness that’s been following him around since their plane first landed and he can’t shake the feeling that something is about to happen. Heartbreaking fic about the events leading up to Jason's death in Under the Red Hood with an amazing sense of place.

5. Oh crap! Only five days until I'm supposed to finish my notgreenorblue fic. I picked the prompt Bilal Asselah, Dick Grayson "Learning to fly", which is pretty much based on this page because I was desperate to read it but I am so stuck. I've got some vague ideas but I have no clue how to make it into a coherent whole.

I reread the final nine issues of Robin last weekend, as Tim Drake research for the Jaime/Tim fic I was planning and I got completely distracted by Steph and Jason (this does not surprise me in any way). Now I have 1000 words of Steph/Jason *facepalms* Someday I'll actually finish a fic.

Have any of you read that particular bit of canon? Or would be interested in talking about it anyway? I want to talk about it with someone because I'm trying to get my head around Steph's motivations (and also the extent of her knowledge about Jason).

(DC Comics, Damian Al'Ghul, PG) Damian cannot get rid of Damian Al’Ghul no matter how hard he tries. Beautiful fic that addresses the parts of Damian's heritage that are entirely ignored in the comics.

I love this and reading it has crystallised some of the ideas I had for my notgreenorblue fic, which I've been stuck on for the past few weeks. I was on the verge of giving up and making icons to fill the prompt instead.

I've started so many posts over the last few days but I never seem to finish them, my attention span is too short at the moment. I had a pretty rubbish day at work and spent most of my time trying to restore some files that I overwrote in a moment of inattention. Why, oh why does C always name the different parts things like filename_CC and filename_DD? I can never remember which is which and then things like this happen. Grr. It is doubley frustrating because I made sure to backup the file I was supposed to be using first. The good news is that I'm pretty sure that all of the days work is salvageable from a combination of the backup archives and the files that weren't overwritten but I wanted to sort it out myself and not ask for help. Doesn't look like that is going to happen.

I've just got back from a couple of hours spent in my favourite cafe. A brownie sundae with mint chocolate ice cream really helps after a sucky day even though I couldn't finish it. The cafe is one of the best places I've found to write fic. I've had this Tim/Jaime fic running through my head for the last few days but by the time I've sat down to the computer in the evening after making dinner and doing chores, I've been too sleepy to write. The cafe was a success, I filled ten pages of my note book and I haven't even got to the part where they are making out FOR SCIENCE ! I'm still trying to work a few things out but I'm very sure that I'll finish this one \o/

I finally found a pair of black boots that were (a) in my size and (b) not hugely expensive. I've worn them for work twice and they are beautifully comfortable and great to walk to work in.

Here are the scans of Traci 13, Spoiler and Misfit from Teen Titans 66 that I mentioned a few entries ago. This meeting made me very happy and I wanted to share.

Do you ever do that thing where you order a bunch of stuff from Amazon and between ordering them and the items showing up - you can't remember exactly what you ordered? Well that happened to me yesterday. So it was a lovely surprise to open the package to find in addition to Fringe Season 1 and Devin Grayson's Inheritance (apparently a slashy DC LOL-fest of a novel), I also got a copy of Megan Whalen-Turner's The Thief. I'd forgotten I'd included it after people keep reccing it. It doesn't seem to have been published in the UK, or at least I've never seen it and I'm looking forward to consuming them all.
