Rena's been with me for almost a year, and she's been an affectionate, frisky, VERY smart, and wonderful companion. And on chilly nights she loves burrowing into HER blankies. I call this "The Morning Emergence".

I'm so glad that Rena adopted me. After an initially anxious few days, she seems to finally realize that this is her home and I'm her mommy and can relax a little. She now lets me leave the room without instantly following me (a huge breakthrough), and is getting used to our daily routine. She still has great anxiety in the car though, which hopefully will ease with time. She barks at every dog she sees, even the enormous and calm German Shepherd across the backyard fence, which is probably a chihuahua territorial trait that I'd like to work on. She's a snugglebug under the blankies, has learned to sit for treats and before being let outside, and absolutely adores walkies. I'm having the best time.

I've been adopted! My precious Pippin passed away on December 15, and I only lasted four weeks before going online and tentatively exploring the pet-rescue websites. I looked day after day, narrowing my search, trying to find THE ONE. I finally decided to start meeting dogs, and the first one was named Serena. I met, I loved, and I brought her home with me on Saturday. And she's THE ONE. She's a chihuahua mix like Pippin, but much smaller (9-10 pounds). What a cuddlesome sweetheart! She has some anxieties, like rescue pups usually do, but she's everything I was looking and longing for. I'm used to a 2-syllable dog name, so Serena is now Rena. :)
