It's been quite a while since I have posted anything here. I was wondering if anyone still hangs out and will see any new posts. Let me know. :D

This last month has been full of milestones and setbacks for me, but I don't have time to get into that all now. :( So I'll just say this...
Today is day 1 of me teaching at critter camp. OMG what have I gotten myself into. *flails*

A few weeks back I spent a week helping my sister out with some in home care of her soon to be MiL. Since that time MiL has been hospitalized to regulate her medication and do a full work up on her. The good news is she is doing better and on her way home today. The not so good news is that she seems to have had a small stroke. We are surmising that she had that the day I called 911 because she would not respond to me at all. Now the medics on scene as well as the ER could not find anything wrong with her and had proposed that she was playing possum looking for attention. Which could be true but since I was giving her all the attention she wanted and I don't think an Oscar winner could do a performance as well as she did, I am tending to agree with her son that, that was when the mini stroke was happening. So, it is good to know that I wasn't over reacting by calling 911, although in this case I kinds wish I was, you know?

Some of you know that some years ago I was working (unpaid) with a group of friends to build a text based MMO that went defunct for various reasons. I have kept in touch with quite a few of the designers from our little hevenly hell of a project via e-mail and Facebook. We don't chat much but we try and keep in touch and keep each others spirits up when needed, but we rarely talk about gaming or the work we did together. For me it just makes me frustrated. It was a good Idea, with good people that worked well together, if not for one control freak type personality I think we could have build something very fun. But that is neither here nor there now.

So when I got a Facebook message from someone I didn't know, asking to help fill out a design team for a new game, and that I was recommended by someone I worked with from the other game... I was.. I don't know. Speechless at first.. then suspicious. I sent a quick message to the person whom supposedly recomended me to the project head and it went something like this...


Me: Are you trying to put me to work again? ;)

Duckman: Yes. (Game lead person) is a friend I met in (MMO Game) who is designing his own RPG - I told him you were an invaluable resource.

Me: I love you Duckman.  You knew I could not resist. :D


So, it looks like I will be helping with another game. This for pen and paper as well as a computer game, possibly an MMO. Unlike last time though, I will be in on the ground floor and working with a team that knows how to listen to ideas of the people around them. I am feeling positive about this venture, and the ego boost from an old friend has made me smile all weekend.

My sister is having troubles and needs a break from everything so I am heading up to her place for the week and my internet activity will be spotty at best.

So since I can't promise to be timely with responses for e-mail or lj or even facebook... I leave you with some Trouble distractions!!!

Heading to my sisters today to return her daughter whom I stole on Saturday and because we are having a informal cook out with her hubby-to-be.

I am in charge of desserts, like always, so I'm making Benne Cookies and a Pumpkin spice bunt cake with cream cheese glaze. The Cake is gonna be a huge hit, mainly because it tastes nothing like pumpkin. Trust me, I HATE pumpkin but I really like this cake, same for Bear, and the kid-lit who looked at me like I was ruining a perfectly good cake when I added the pumpkin. She has since gotten a small bite of the baked product and loves it.

This is the first time for these cookies though, but from the taste of the batter they are gonna be goooood. Kid-lit has declared the beater licking to be like licking "Heaven on a stick." So, thats promising. ;)

So A few years ago...(Like 5) I did a sleep study and found out that I stopped breathing 2 times every minute. So I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and given a CPAP machine. Well that machine stopped  working about 2 years ago. IE Trouble ate it one morning when she couldn't wake me up. O.o So anyway we have been trying half heartedly until the last 2 months to get a new one.  (Half heartedly in the fact that how do I explain to the insurance that my cockatoo ate my machine?!?)

So anyway, apparently we let enough time pass so that we would "need" a new machine anyway and a new sleep study. So off I went to try and sleep in a strange bed with wires stuck all over my head and body. Wheee! I didn't do too badly, slept alright with only one major nightmare that woke me up with a start. So when all was said and done, I still have Sleep apnea, and it is still severe, so a week went by and a nice man came over with a shiny new machine and face mask...a full face mask. Ohhh this was not going to work.

So I don the mask and fight the claustrophobia for about 2 weeks. Other then the whole OMG something is on my face moments in the middle of the night, I am also perturbed by all the gapping and leaking of air at my chin and the bridge of my nose. This thing can't work if there isn't some sort of seal, so Bear finally gets a hold of the company and arranges for someone to come over and help me figure all this out the next day...  They never show up. >:(

Bear calls them again. They INSIST they talked to me... on the phone.. pretty neat trick since I don't have one. So a new appointment is set for yesterday. The guy shows up sees the problem, gets a smaller mask and...same problem. No seal. So apparently I have a freakishly abnormal shaped face and he has to get another special mask and try that. So we set up again for the next day.

So he returned today with the special mask and...it doesn't fit. *headdesk* Thank goodness he had a nasal pillow mask in his truck cause that fir and works AND he gave me 2 extras in different sizes just to be safe. Oye! This has been an adventure in frustration.

Morel of the story: When faced with my body trying to kill me by not breathing, it's good to know I can push past the Claustrophobia long enough to stay alive. ;)
 

Stupid Internet made me cry again. :(

Not that he hasn't been spoiled all day by me, but now I am throwing Huge Birthday Wishes to my Hubby on the interwebs!!!
