I'm a wife and mom from Texas who enjoys a wide variety of interests. After spending eons both teaching sociology at a local university and/or working on a Ph.D, I decided to stop pursuing graduate school in May, 2015. I *could* teach with the credentials I have, but there's no where nearby hiring. BUT I started working for my friend, Jessi, and distinctionjewelry.com in 2016, and I *love* it! Now, I'm not sure I'd go back to teaching, even if there were an option for that. I love(d) my students, but the rest of the demands of academia aren't my thing any longer.

I have lots of interests, and have been involved in fanfic since at least 2001. These days, I especially enjoy "Supernatural" and "White Collar" (TV shows) and their actors, Harry Potter and music -- all sorts, although I will admit that some types require a more "limited dose" than others. I'm a bit obsessed with Hamilton, too, but I'm not quite ready for fanfic for it, I don't think ;-)

I enjoy getting to know people, but please don't take offense if you add me to your flist and I don't return the favor immediately. I like to get to know people before I add them to my flist -- that way I don't have to upset anyone if I eventually have to defriend people due to the length of my list ;-)

For those times when it's relevant: yes, I'm over 18. Both my *kids* are over 18. We're not going to talk about how old that makes me feel ;-)
