Dr. Sharmin Shabnam Rahman
BRAC University, BRAC Business School(BBS), Senior Research Manager and BRAC University Lead, Regulations of International Supply Chains (RISC)
I am passionate about teaching and mentoring people. Being part of the education industry for over a decade, working on international projects and interviewing a lot of people allowed me to gather the knowledge and insights required to understand the thought process of learning, improving, growing and achieving a goal.
Previously, worked as the Senior Research Manager and BRAC University Lead on an international project, The Regulation of International Supply Chains (RISC). The project is led by Copenhagen Business School, Denmark and its partners are BRAC University, Bangladesh, Tufts University, USA and the Danish Ethical Trading Initiative. It is funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the RISC Project seeks to understand how social sustainability issues like working conditions and OHS are governed in the Bangladesh RMG industry. In particular, it conducts qualitative investigations into the various projects, programs and initiatives that arose after the Rana Plaza tragedy (e.g. the Accord for Bangladesh Worker Safety, and the ILO’s BetterWork Program) in order to understand the effectiveness of different approaches.
