A comment that fansee made on my last post sent me on a search for my favourite QaF fanvids. OH MY GOD THE MEMORIES. What an amazing trip down memory lane.

This one was, if memory serves, by bea_nonymous. It is my favourite fanvid of all time. The juxtaposition between the old and new clips is *kisses fingers* perfection. The song is "This Will Be Our Year" by OK Go. (The quality is not great but it's the only one I could find.)

Then we have "Accidentally in Love" by Sarismchee. Again with the perfect use of clips and amazing cutting, and just the perfect song. EEEE.

The other one that I remember loving was "My World" by altricial, but I can't find it anywhere. Anybody know where to find it?

The lovely kitkatbyte has added My World by altricial to the comments. Thank you so much, kitkatbyte. Enjoy!

I also randomly thought of a few QaF writers/active fandom participants back in the day, and then from going to those LJ's was reminded of names of many more. I am sooooooo close to falling down the "old QaF Fic" rabbit hole, but I gotta gotta gotta work today. Maybe on the weekend. :D

From fansee's recent post:

Go to the archives of the year you opened your Live journal account.
Find the closest entry to this date.
Post a story on your blog about it and add a link to said entry if you want to.

It's the LJ Wayback Machine! I opened my journal in December 2003 (aside: WHOA.) so I went instead to August 2004, where on August 30, 2004 my entry was a story I posted for Gapfillerpalooza. If memory serves, Liz (twistinside82) and I were trying to find ways to fill one of those endless QaF hiatuses, so we decided to write one gapfiller per week for every episode of Season One. It was fun and a great challenge. I gave the story a quick skim and it's another one of the ones that I don't even remember writing! I have just written sooooo much over the years that a lot of the old ones are lost in this old brain.

The post is here.

Ohhhh, those days of QaF Fandom. My life was ABSORBED by that show, those characters, and the wonderful people I met in fandom.

ION, my new bullet journal is working out fabulously. Turns out I am much better at keeping on track the old-fashioned analog way. I've also been looking for ways to motivate me to get better digitally, too. Watch this space. :D

In Xie's absence, the lovely and amazing brianswalk is continuing the traditional "Gusmas" Charity Drive over at drabylon! For every QaF drabble written and posted to the comm using its prompts, she will be donating $1.00 (up to $100) to the Ali Forney Centre for homeless LGBT youth in New York City. INCREDIBLE, RIGHT?

You can find all the info at her post here. :)

If you'd like to see some QaF drabbles by me (or even if you don't -- geez, it's for a good cause, people ;) please help me by leaving a comment with up to three random numbers (from 01 to 239). The drabylon prompts are numbered picture prompts and I know if I start browsing through them I just won't be able to choose. So I will simply write for whatever Prompt Numbers you guys give me. My goal is to write 30 drabbles. :)

Aaaand if you're a writer, this would be a great time to dust off that QaF muse and make it sing. I will also be contributing $1 per drabble written (not including my own, up to $25) to Casey House, an inspiring HIV/AIDS hospice and outreach centre in Toronto.

So come on, Folks. It's that time of the year. Let's write some drabbles and raise some money!

Heeeere's the info I was looking for yesterday!

The QaF Drabbles comm over at Insane Journal is holding their Gusmas 2012 challenge again. There are 37 prompts posted, and for each drabble written xie_xie_xie is donating $1 to the Ali Fortney Centre for LGBT youth. Usually other people kick in with extra donations for particular prompts as well -- according to the comm, last year they raised $1514 dollars!

This is an amazing way to raise money for a deserving charity, and to give something back this holiday season. So if you're a QaF writer, consider writing a few drabbles and helping to raise some money for a worthy cause. And if you can afford the cash, consider pledging a dollar amount as well.

Now. I gotta start thinking of prompt fills. :)

The final day! It's been awesome reliving the "QaF Experience". HEE.

Day 30 - Do you have any QaF related items?

Let's see. I have all five seasons on DVD, plus I also have Season One on VHS. I have a very very battered QaF mousepad. I have The Book. In regard to the actors, I saw Randy in the Berkshires a few times and in New York once and have his autograph on a few playbills and such -- which is quite the feat since I never actually SPOKE to Randy, I just quivered and bounced while other people on my awesome flist did the deed. I saw Gale in his play in NYC and got his autograph in a similar fashion! ... I think that's it.

ETA: Erm, I have no idea how I forgot this, but I also have a giant poster that's hanging *directly above my computer*. LOL And I have a cowry shell bracelet that was a gift from a friend. And some QaF italian charms. ... Okay, I think that's really it.

ETA #2: OMG TOO FUNNY, I keep reading other people's responses and being reminded of MORE STUFF I have. So yeah, I have some screeners (I was a spoiler virgin but Canada was behind the States on airings, and I was lucky enough to get them so I could still watch the show at the same time as everyone else, LOL) and I have a calendar. *thinks very very hard* ... Okay, I think this is REALLY it.

ETA #3, 6.5 months later, LOL! AND the Rage comic, a Xmas gift from my lovely niece. THERE. DONE. *dusts hands*

And if you could own one item from the sets, what would it be?

OMG. BRIAN'S LIME. *still wants* LOL

And that's all, folks. :)

Day 29 - Your favorite QaF fanart (icon, wallpaper etc)

Well, I'm gonna interpret this as favourite fanartIST, and I'm going with the lovely raelala. I always really liked her style, very crisp and clean. And to my memory at least, a lot of people who were disenchanted with the show stopped making icons in the later seasons -- my memory might be faulty, but that's the way I remember it -- and I particularly fell in love with a whole bunch of icons that she did for Season Five. The one on this post is one of them.

You can find all of her beautiful icons here... ETA: if you're on raelala's flist. Sorry, guys.

Day 26 - Your favorite advice or wisdom from the show

I do not think of QaF in terms of, ya know, life lessons. Except maybe "always use a condom", heh.

Day 27 - Your favorite QaF fanvid

Sweeeeeeeeeet zombie jesus, NO ONE can possibly beat "This Will Be Our Year" by bea_nonymous. She uses some gorgeous matching clips and absolutely the most PERFECT song to show the progression of Brian and Justin's relationship through the years, and how they grew and changed and OMG THEY HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN, OKAY. Years have gone by and this vid still makes me a little giddy.

*happy sigh*
