Well, I've also stayed on track with my work goals. I don't have cable, but online on a couple of websites I am able to watch my reality shows the next day: The Challenge USA (which I am starting to call Challenge Lite - but Tyson from Survivor is killin' it), MasterChef USA, and American Ninja Warrior. I'm also still watching MasterChef AU Season 13 when I can squeeze in an episode, and Snowpiercer and final episode of The Boys are both still in my queue. Aaaaaand OMG I SAW A COMMERCIAL THAT SOMEONE POSTED FOR THE NEW SEASON OF THE BLOCK UK. I am soooooo excited for that. And and and apparently the latest season of Australian Ninja Warrior *already started*. Unfortunately, the website where I get my UK, AU, and NZ TV fixes has has a notice up that they are offline for maintenance for the past few days, and now I am biting my nails wanting to get on there!

Today I also walked 1K to the library to get my books that came in, and then took the bus to the end of the line and then walked the 2K to the cemetery. Despite the heat waves that we've had, I guess the spits and spots of rain were enough because only one of the flowers was dead since my last visit. I cleaned out a couple of weeds and doused the flowers in water, then walked the 2K back to the bus stop. It was hot but there was a nice breeze so it wasn't bad actually until I got on the bus and then I started to feel sick. I get motion sickness sometimes anyway and it's always worse in the heat. Ugh.

Anyway. Two more good books!

I expected this to be a normal workday for me, until Amy suggested a trip downtown and lunch out. We ended up spending most of the day downtown. We did some shopping at a few indie stores (I bought apple soap and a purse) and did a lot of walking! The place Amy picked for lunch wasn't open, so we got to go to my pick, a Mexican restaurant called Mesa. I loooooove Mexican food (as long as it's not too spicy) and omg everything on the menu looked amazing. We ended up getting something called flautas for a starter (yum) and I got a chicken chimichanga (double yum) and a mango margarita (all the yum in the world.) It was such a fun day. This is literally the first time I've actually just wandered around stopping into random stores and had a nice lunch out since before COVID!

On the way home we took the bus further than we needed to so I could pop into the library and get a book that was on hold, then walked from there. I only tracked the Point A to Point B walking we did without stopping (train station to downtown, downtown to train station, library to home) but that was 3 kms! Maybe all that walking will take care of the lunch? Hahahaha.

I'm also on a bad roll with books. Finished this one yesterday and do not recommend.

And my latest Live Free or Die Hard Reward Fic is up by the amazing persnickett. This one is called Thirty-three, in honour of my 33 lbs total lost so far, and it's seriously the best one so far! Her John voice is completely spot-on and I got all swoony. If you are a DH fan, go check it out!

Today I walked to the library to pick up some books I had transferred from other branches. I had to go today because we are getting yet another snowstorm tonight, with an excepted 15 cm (6 inches) tonight and another 5 cm (2 inches) tomorrow. Whyyyyyyyyyy. UGH.

Anyway, my walk again made me feel quite optimistic. It was 2.1 km round trip (1.3 miles) which is longer than the walk to the pharmacy, and I did in a faster time. I also didn't have any pain until I got to the library, and the pain was mild. It didn't get worse until I was about 2 blocks from home, and even then wasn't as bad as it usually gets. I actually am starting to believe that I might be able to have at least a semi-active life again!

Anyway, haldoor and I were commiserating about the horrible hills we must face whenever we leave the house, so I said I would take a photo of mine.

Stupid hillCollapse )

Allrighty, off to see if I can finish my book and get my review and such done tonight. I'm not loving the book I'm reading so I'm eager to finish it and start one that I reallllly want to read. Hope everyone is doing well.

Apocalypse Z by Manel LoureiroCollapse )

The library has informed me that book 5 of the Murderbot Diaries (MURDERBOT!!) is now available, so that's next on my list. OMG YAY MURDERBOT. This one is a full-length story, too, which should be fun. :)

Yesterday I started back at the beginning of my journal at 2003 and started modifying my tags. I've done this once before, but I wanted to refine better (inspired by me not being able to know for sure if I read that stupid novel before.) My goal is maybe to do 6 months a day in between working and fun reading and other stuff. We'll see how that goes. *checks watch* It's 2:35pm and I haven't even opened work today. Um.

*runs away*

Hey all. I spent all day yesterday helping my niece Krystle move into her first apartment with her friend Liz. They're moving in right next door to me, which was convenient! There was some drama involving her sofa, which would not fit through the doorway. My nephew and his friend tried for at least 30 minutes. We also considered winching it over the balcony, but the sofa was 27" and the balcony door opening is only 25". GAH. They ended up having to just get rid of the sofa (it was given to them.) They also have a love seat so it's not like they have nothing to sit on; and they plan to save up and get another love seat. The superintendent told them that the previous tenants only had love seats for the same reason. You think she'd tell potential tenants this before they move in!

So I obviously did no writing yesterday. This has put me behind on my word count for the first time this month. And today I have to spend the late morning/early afternoon at my sister's place for my great-niece and great-nephew's birthday party. Then tonight is the premieres of The Amazing Race and of course of Gale on Desperate Housewives. Then I have to go to work at 11pm. Somewhere in there I need to write 2000 words if I want to stay on track. ARGH.

Last week was the Autumn Library Book Sale, wheee! In between work, writing, shopping for birthday presents for the fam and my friend Amy, and Family Council, I managed to drop in there twice. Woo! Over the course of the two visits I picked up 16 paperbacks and 2 hardcovers, and the total cost was $11.00!

I'm going to be reading a lot more at work lately because my dispatcher, Terri, found a new job and had her last day on Thursday. I'm going to miss her and our lovely chats and all her autumnwrite encouragement. She used to quiz me on my word count every night and cheer me on if it was good and chastise me if it was too low! She also listened to me babble about Gale & Randy, about Stockbridge and meeting LJers, about Clay and the Claybaby. :D Work's just not gonna be the same. And to add insult to injury, two other co-workers have also given their notice, one of whom works on my shift and I adore completely. So I'm going to be left with the worst calltakers and two different dispatchers. ARGH again. I hope this is a wake-up call to management that they need to make some changes -- and not the ones they're currently making.

And it's Sunday, so here is my Mission101 Update for Week 30Collapse )

I am again behind on responding to comments but I want to thank everyone who is reading all the stories and leaving feedback. It means a lot to me!
