The current study aims to evaluate posture and find an association between MSDs and body posture scores. The Nordic questionnaire and rapid entire body assessment (REBA) were used to collect MSDs and postures from farmers. The MSD in various body regions (neck, elbows, hands, upper back, knees, ankles, lower back, hips, thighs, and buttocks) was found to be 6.7%, 10%, 3.3%, 6.7%, 16.7%, 20%, and 10%, respectively, during the last 12-month period. In REBA score findings, holding bags, filling the bucket, and the bag were found to have a very high risk of causing MSDs. Despite the fact that MSDs are not very common among farmers who engage in paddy bagging tasks, posture analysis reveals what causes MSDs. Further investigation is needed to improve and reduce MSDs.

An anthropometric survey was carried out among the university students in Sri Lanka to design fixed-type and side-mounted desktop chair and to assess the comfort levels of it based on the design dimensions. The first part of the study focused on design dimensions of the mounted desktop and recommended the dimensions for it. The side-mounted desktop chair needs to be tested for its effect on posture and comfort with proposed dimensions on user population. Relevancy to industry: The existing design of side-mounted desktop chair is unlikely to satisfy the postural and comfort requirements of university students in their learning environment. The chair that supports the development of healthy and comfortable posture is considered important for students to produce healthy workforce to the industries.

Body posture movements were recorded on video. Factor analysis validated the factor structure of comfort and discomfort. The results obtained by analysis of the body posture movements confirmed the results obtained in subjective ratings. Above moderate and higher levels of discomfort (physical) factors are dominant over higher levels of comfort (emotional) factors in the perception of discomfort and comfort. However, lower levels of discomfort factors and low to intermediate levels of comfort factors can co-exist. Various individual underlying factors have varying levels of effect on overall comfort and discomfort perceptions. The results indicate that relief is the strongest factor in perception of comfort in sitting. From the results obtained, it is suggested to investigate chair design features that may influence the feeling of relief in sitting.

H... more Available native chicken products in the prevailing market is highly demanded by the consumers. However, value-added native chicken products are less available in the market. It is obvious that the value addition of a product leads the producers to increase their profit margin sustainably. Therefore, this study investigated the consumer preference on value addition to native chicken meat and egg. The responses of randomly selected hundred and sixty consumers who visited ten randomly selected meat shops and supermarkets were collected. A structured questionnaire was provided to each consumer to collect data. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 25 statistical package. The linear probability model was utilized for estimating factors impacting on consumer preference. The result revealed that more than 98% of consumers preferred value addition to native chicken products. The level of education and health consciousness of consumers, consumer perceived attributes of native chicken products available in the prevailing market and current market price of native chicken meat and egg significantly affected the consumer preference on value addition to native chicken products. The result implies that there is a potential market existing for value-added native chicken products in both rural and urban areas. Therefore, the value-added native chicken producers and other related institutions have to be more considerate to increase the preferred attributes of native chicken meat and egg through continuous research and development strategies. This research is the opportunity to present native chicken farmers to increase their contribution to the value addition and this study made a pathway to new entrepreneurs as well.
