Sandra Ospina

Principal of SEK International School Riyadh.

Sandra brings to the SEK Riyadh Community more than a decade of experience in education. She has taught from nursery to university level, has developed science curricula, and has held leadership roles in the past few years. Sandra’s educational philosophy centers on nurturing the whole child, which in short means attending to a child’s cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and ethical development while inspiring their curiosity, and creativity.

In her current role as Head of School, Sandra will work closely with SEK-Riyadh leadership team and the school community to support the school’s continuous growth. She is working closely with all our faculty to ensure that the curriculum, teaching methodologies, and resources align with the IB philosophy to provide the children at our school with an exceptional educational experience.

Sandra has a BA in Chemistry, BS in Biology, MA in Biology education from Brooklyn College(New York), and an M.ed in International Educational Policy from Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Joan Blázquez

Head of Finance and Administration

Mr. Joan Blázquez has been a member of the SEK Education Group since 1998, he has worked at SEK International School Catalunya as the Head of Finance and Administration.

He received his undergraduate degree in Economics from The University Abad Oliva in Barcelona in 1997 and an Executive Masters degree from EAE Business School in 2017.

Joan is certified in internal auditing and has a specialist degree in payment and debt collection.

He has over 23 years of experience in the financial sector of the SEK Education Group including supporting all school functions and all administrative areas.

Susana Calvo

Head of Learning and Innovation

Susana Calvo brings to the SEK Riyadh community over 15 years of experience within the SEK Education Group, where she has worked extensively across early childhood and primary education. Originally from England and raised in Spain, Susana has cultivated a passion for fostering innovative learning environments and nurturing student development.

In her role as Vice Principal and Head of Learning Innovation, starting from the 2024 academic year, Susana works closely with the leadership team and faculty to drive continuous educational improvement and innovation. Her approach emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to ensuring that each child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally within the IB framework.

Susana holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education, is an IB Workshop Leader, and serves as a NEASC Visitor, reflecting her dedication to international education standards and best practices.

Sadia Kidwai

PYP Coordinator

Sadia Kidwai joins SEK Riyadh bringing a strong commitment to innovation and inclusivity in education. Originally from Canada, she has lived and worked in diverse global settings, developing a rich expertise in the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, High Performance Learning, differentiated instruction, and educational technology.

As the PYP Coordinator, Sadia will work closely with the school community to foster a culture of excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement within the Primary Years Programme. Passionate about transforming traditional pedagogy into rigorous, student-centered curricula, she is dedicated to supporting each student’s success and holistic development.

Sadia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Commerce from Ryerson University. She is currently completing her Master’s in Educational Leadership at Harvard Graduate School of Education, alongside a Master’s in Education at Queen’s University, Canada.

Jorge de la Torre

MYP Coordinator

Jorge de la Torre brings a rich background shaped by his lifelong connection to the SEK Education Group. Born in Madrid and raised within the SEK community, Jorge pursued his higher education abroad in the United States before returning to SEK as an MYP teacher four years ago. For the past two years, he has been a valued member of the diverse SEK Riyadh community.

As the new MYP Coordinator, Jorge will work closely with students and faculty to strengthen the Middle Years Programme, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience that reflects IB philosophy and best practices.

Jorge holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Neuroscience from Denison University (USA), a Master of Science in Secondary Education from Universidad Complutense (Spain), and is currently completing a Master’s degree in International Education and Bilingualism at Universidad Camilo José Cela (Spain).

Salvador Monpeat

IT Director

Salvador Monpeat has been a member of the SEK Education Group since 2016, beginning his journey at SEK International School Catalunya. Over nearly eight years, he has advanced from managing IT operations at the school level to overseeing IT services for SEK’s international campuses through the corporate offices, contributing to the institution’s technological development and regional expansion.

Salvador holds a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Systems Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and a Master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Universitat Ramon Llull. He also completed the Executive Programme in Investment Strategies and Wealth Management at ESADE Business School. He is currently pursuing an MBA from Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR) in collaboration with Harvard Business School.
