Cheonshik Kim received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from HUFS in 2003. From March 2016, he was a professor at the Department of Computer Science, Sejong University, Korea. He is a member of IEEE. His research interests include Multimedia Systems, Data Hiding, and Watermarking. His research is supported by NRF.

Rapid development of computer and network technology has greatly promoted the biological informat... more Rapid development of computer and network technology has greatly promoted the biological information science. People have made satisfactory achievements in the study of high-throughput interaction map and pathogenic gene identification, and have been able to verify the candidate associations between genes and disease. However, a large amount of implicit knowledge between diseases, symptoms and genes have not been discovered. With the arrival of the age of big data, the number and variety of biomedical data sets have had a huge breakthrough. The rapid growth of biomedical big data provides the possibility of discovering biomedical implied relationship and assessing the strength association between entities. This paper puts forward an implicit association mining algorithm combining Monte Carlo method with the Newton's law of cooling. The algorithm synthesizes path, known-correlation intensity and dynamic changes of associated network topology. It can effectively find out potential and meaningful association between biomedical entities, and can evaluate the strength of the association based on probability.

Such network is comprised of several sensor nodes, each having a microprocessor, sensor, actuator and wired/wireless transceiver inside a small device. In this paper, we employ the sensor networks in order to design and implement a real-time vehicle safety system. Such system can inform the safe velocity in a specific weather condition to drivers in advance through analyzing the weather data collected from sensor networks. As a result, the drivers can prevent effectively accidents by controlling their car speed.

For this reason, today's offline educational institutions adopted the online education technique to improve learning effectiveness. Recently, general universities have partially adopted online learning. As a result, a study is searching for ways to improve the effectiveness of education by copying the merits of the existing offline education onto the online education. Thus a proper evaluation of learners and a feedback provision are considered necessary to improve the effectiveness of online learning. This study aims to suggest a model that will improve learning efficiency by adapting the advantages of offline education to online learning. To evaluate properly, this study conducted Item Response Test to examine the learners and finally ensure them an adequate level of education. Also, this study suggested a way to enhance learning efficiency by finding out each learner's study habits and to address the weaknesses of online learning. It is expected that the suggested method would be helpful in bettering learner's ability to study in school environment.

Dual Reversible Data Hiding in Encrypted Halftone Images Using Matrix Encoding

Data hiding and reversible data hiding research has primarily focused on grayscale and color imag... more Data hiding and reversible data hiding research has primarily focused on grayscale and color images, because binary and halftone images are prone to visual distortion caused by a small number of errors in pixel representation. As a result, reversible data hiding is more useful than halftone-based data hiding. This study proposes an investigation of encrypted halftone images based on dual reversible data hiding, which improves the reversibility and security of the image by utilizing a dual cover image. Since halftone images are adequately compressed, they are beneficial in low-channel-bandwidth environments. Hamming code (HC) (7,4) is applied to each block of the halftone image to hide the secret data, and two halftone images are recorded and sent to different receivers at the end of the embedding process. Recipients can use the proposed method and the two marked images to extract the message and recover the cover halftone image. The proposed data hiding method can enhance the quality of the decrypted image by appropriately increasing the block size, and conversely, sufficiently large amounts of data can be hidden by reducing the block size. The experimental results provide evidence of the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of both image quality and the embedding rate.

Performance Improvements of Partial Reversible Data Hiding Scheme

R261, Jana et al. proposed the partial reversible data hiding (PRDH) based on (7, 4) Hamming code... more R261, Jana et al. proposed the partial reversible data hiding (PRDH) based on (7, 4) Hamming code, which deals with three images: the original image (OI), the cover image (CI), and the stego image (SI). The CI is obtained by slightly modifying OI. After that, one can embed secret into CI to generate SI. The so-called partial reversible feature is that we can reconstruct the CI faultlessly, which is almost the same to the OI. However, in Jana et al.'s PRDH, the authors only adjust redundant bits by using (7, 4) Hamming code with even (or odd) parity. This simple approach may modify 3 redundant bits at most in 7 least significant bit (LSBs) to obtain CI from OI, and this degrades the CI quality seriously. In this paper, we construct two schemes: the proposed PRDH and the modified PRDH. The proposed PRDH enhances the partial reversible property that improves the visual quality of CI. And, the modified PRDH enhances the proposed PRDH to achieve the high embedding capacity. In addition, we also point out two inaccurate descriptions in Jana et al.'s PRDH about position of embedded secret to more simplify the procedure of embedding secret.

Dual Reversible Data Hiding Based on AMBTC Using Hamming Code and LSB Replacement

The existing data hiding schemes conceal the data in the cover image and then communicate secretl... more The existing data hiding schemes conceal the data in the cover image and then communicate secretly on the channel. The weakness of these methods is that the security aspect is somewhat lacking, and there is a limit to hiding enough data. In this paper, we propose a reversible data hiding method based on dual AMBTC images. It improves security, which is a weakness of data hiding. AMBTC has strengths in low-bandwidth channel environments with simple calculations and efficient data performance. HC(7,4) and LSB replacement methods are applied to each block of AMBTC to hide secret data. After the embedding process, the two AMBTC-marked images are obtained, and these images are sent to different recipients. The recipients can extract hidden messages and restore the cover AMBTC image by using the proposed method and two marked images. Our proposed data hiding method guarantees sufficient data hiding, proper cover image quality, and restoration of the original cover image. Experimental results show that our method is efficient in terms of image quality and embedding ratio.
