So I guess besides apparently pulling a muscle in my back, I'm now sick with either a bad cold or a fever. Of course this only happens when I'm about to have some days off, so I can spend them being miserable. I'll have to give my sister a thank-you punch for the illness, seeing as how she's the one that's spreading it at home.

Happy New Year! I hope you're all doing well. Things have slowed down a bit at work, so I'm hoping I can get a request in for a vacation some time soon. I know my back will thank me for it It's been hurting when I bend down in a particular fashion (and basically any time I lean towards my left), though it hasn't limited my ability to lift heavy things yet.

Anyhow, assuming I don't incur some sort of traumatic injury at work within the next couple of days, I think I might be able to get some art done. I'm really hoping to, since I've got quite a backlog. At least now my backlog of games to play and art to draw are finally evening out? :'D

On another note, any of you have any suggestions on books to read? I realized that I honestly haven't read much since graduating from high school years ago, and it's been bothering me. I've got the Song of Ice and Fire series, which I've been picking at from time to time, but some more variety would be nice. I tend to have an interest in fantasy books, but I'm bound to like most anything that is well written and engaging.

I don't like drawing at work that much anymore since people always peek over my shoulder when I do, and lately it's been pissing me off. :/ So book reading is very ideal for passing the time.

Well, time to go lay down and try to sleep. Maybe when I wake up my back won't hurt so much. =w=;;;

Finally did some drawings for myself for the first time in... forever. OTL I think tomorrow I will ink something, maybe even lay down some flats. That's pretty ambitious for me, since I can't recall anything outside of RP or commissions or gift art that I've done lineart and colors for.

Mmm, I'm really tired right now, but I wasn't completely unproductive! Despite my insatiable desire to drop dead in bed, I finally got around to doing my FAFSA. Of course, this time when I fill it out, it tells me I don't have to put my parent's tax info in. The reason I had been putting off my FAFSA was because I thought I needed my parent's tax info, and had been waiting on them to finish filing their return.

They said I might be eligible for a Pell Grant or Direct Stafford Loan. ;A; I hope I can get some financial aid, since that was the only reason I couldn't go to college before. OTL

With me getting more hours at work and the like, it has me thinking... What should I try getting a degree in? I'm going to a local community college first, and am hoping to eventually transfer to get a bachelors or something like that. While I want to take art classes, I also want to get a job that pays decently so that I can take care of myself. :< I was thinking of perhaps getting into Nursing, as there is a high demand for Registered Nurses. However, the more I think on it, the more I second guess myself. Maybe because college actually seems like a plausible idea now, I'm starting to really think about my options. Before that, I would have studied anything if it would get me a decent paying job.

I'm pretty open to anything, so what would you suggest I look into? As I've said before, I love, love, LOVE art, but I'm a realist and know that I probably wouldn't be making a decent living as an artist. :/ Any suggestions?

Anyhow, I sadly won't be seeing any of you awesome folks at Sakura-Con. :< I hope you all have fun out there for me. As for me, well... I guess I get to enjoy my one day off again. >.< After I mail a commission, amongst other things. =A=;;;

Maybe on Monday I can catch up on Madoka and Oofuri. Oh, Oofuri, I love you so. How sad I am to have neglected you so much. :<

EDIT: Here's a link to a pic I took of my desk, for those who were curious. If you are wondering about the hat on the floor, I was drying my work hat after washing it. >.> You'd be surprised at how dirty it can get.

I finally got a new desk! :'D It's the Studio Designs Futura Craft Station thingamabob. IT HAS DRAWERS AND A GLASS TOP AND TILTS AT AN ANGLE AND OMG SO SHINY. O:

Now I just gotta draw on it. lol That's going to be harder to do than putting the damn table together (which by the way took me two hours >:/) because most of my time is spent at work now. Which is awesome because WHOO MORE HOURS MEANS MORE MONEY MEANING I CAN ACTUALLY SAVE SOME FOR COLLEGE. But it kind of sucks because I come home smelling like chicken and vinegar and potato salad and I'm usually sore. Smelling like chicken has improved my relationship with my mother's dogs, though. They think I smell delicious.

I hope you're all doing well. :> I'm hoping that things work out great in the deli and that I get good enough at it to stay there for a long time to come.

Hopefully I can squeeze some time in at night to get some sketches done. It's been too long since I've drawn Vincent or anything else besides commissions (which I still need to work on).

So today, on the way home, my mom and I got hit by an oncoming car that decided to go through a red light. I think the point of contact was the front right side of the car, right about where either our front right wheel or my feet would be. Nobody was hurt, except for some minor burns/bruising from our airbags. We had the right of way, as we had been waiting at an intersection to turn left. The light went green, as well as the special little green arrow that denotes that we can safely turn left and that the other lanes across from us have red lights. Too bad the guy that hit us didn't pay attention. >.> I called 911, since my mom was complaining of chest pains (turned out to be nothing more than the bruising from the airbags), and the paramedics and police came rather quickly. There was another witness the police officer talked to who's story backed ours, and the guy who hit us got a ticket. :>

It was kind of a surreal experience, since when we got hit, it didn't immediately register in my head that, well, we were hit. Our car fared much better than the other guy's, since the front of his was totaled. I am also not entirely ashamed to admit that when I looked out my window and saw the damage on the other guy's car, I mentally proclaimed "Take that, sucker! That's what you get for blowing through a red light!" The officer was kind enough to fill out the report for my mother, so all we have to do now is call our insurance company and let them know what happened, and then go to the towing yard to collect our belongings from the vehicle. Thankfully, both us and the guy who hit us have insurance. The cop who filled out the report was also nice enough to give us and our dogs (who were also in the car at the same time) a ride home. The neighbor's cat even came by to say hello and thank you. lol

Well, hopefully this will be the last time I ever have to be involved in any auto-related accident. Although, given how people drive out there, I sort of doubt that.

Just... Damn. If I knew we were going to be hit by a car, I'd have not bought those two cases of water and lemonade. OTL That's going to be a pain in the ass to carry back to our other car come tomorrow. OTL

I was bored and inspired and kind of feeling nostalgic, thus the Xenogears stuff. The FFVII stuff was more like an exercise with expressions, using Vincent and Hojo as my guinea pigs. >.> That's why they are so out of character.
