The sanest lunatic you've ever met
13 May 2014 @ 12:34 pm
Dear GOD I have been busy lately. I'm doing almost all of my fannish interaction via my phone these days, which means I read LJ but almost never comment, skim Tumblr (though I've been kind of crap about even that in the last two weeks), and mostly keep up with Twitter. Twitter is easiest on my phone and in bite-sized enough bites that I can do it in 5 minute chunks when I'm taking a minute to breathe.

The reasons for my busy-ness are good but your standard real-life stuff: children, work, trying to keep the house running, etc. Work is especially tough on my schedule right now because I'm starting a new job next week so I've spent the last month or so trying to get all my crap finished at my old job. The finish line is near! I can do it! If I can just keep myself on track, but my willpower is draining away very fast the closer I get to my last day.

I did find time to write 7000+ words of a punk rock AU for Seth/Amy fandom in the last week, though. As you do.

I've been trying to do that movie meme all morning, but I am stumped. I don't know that there ARE any very definitive movies for me...maybe The Neverending Story. I guess if we were talking about movies that fundamentally get at the things I love most, probably also add The Muppet Movie, Galaxy Quest, The 10th Kingdom (miniseries, technically, but roll with it), Anna and the King...I don't know. I am really terrible at this.

I have been so-so about keeping up with shows. I had a REALLY meh reaction to the Community finale, so much so that my primary feeling about the show being cancelled is that I wish it had another season so that it could end better, but I liked this season much better than either seasons 3 or 4. I was over-the-moon about the Parks and Recreation finale, which resolved the triplets storyline I was nervous about in the best way possible, and I am really happy the show is getting a chance to end on its own terms. I can't recall what else we're watching...oh well Game of Thrones, which. *hands* I don't even know anymore. We're also watching Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and it's SO GOOD, y'all. You should DEFINITELY give it a shot if you have the mean to watch it. And of course I've been watching Late Night with Seth Meyers, which I also recommend though it's a totally different kettle of fish. Hee.

I DO have another 30 Days of Photos meme entry! I promise I will complete a meme for once in my life.

Photo 5: Something tangentially Due South-ishCollapse )

I've been listening to all the music on my iPod lately (25,000+ songs) and hearing all kinds of stuff I either haven't heard in ages or haven't heard at all. It's been a great reminder of why I love music so much. I should do this more often, instead of getting stuck on the same 50-60 songs in my 'Current Obsessions' playlist.

This is your slightly-less-than-one-week reminder that MORE JOY DAY is happening next Thursday, January 9th!

In case you missed it, here's the explanatory post.

I had a thing I thought I wanted to do for More Joy Day and I just spent half an hour trying to find one tiny part of it to explain it and realized that was a terrible decision, so back to the Joy Drawing Board. *g*

**********

I don't know what the Yuletide threat levels are except for bears, and I'm pretty sure I'm at Bears Putting On Jet Packs level right now. They haven't taken off yet or anything, but it's looking bad. I actually have about 75% of a rough draft done, but I'm pretty sure the rough draft is crap and I still have to fill in that other 25%. I should get to that now. At least I'd have a finished vid? (I AM SORRY RECIPIENT, I HOPE YOU NEVER SEE THIS. My intentions are VERY GOOD. I just am having trouble in the Doing Stuff department the last few weeks; this goes for everything in my life right now, actually. I'm just really tired all the time. I want to not have to be doing anything for a day.)

I will finish my Festivid, though. I WILL. And I will make sure it does not entirely suck. I really love the source material, and I want to do it justice.

**********

I have been reading all of the Year-In-Review memes people have been doing here and idly considering it myself but my year can be summed up with: pregnant! awful job crap! both our dogs died! I had a baby! I'm exhausted and/or sick the entire rest of the year!

Which is not really fun for anyone. Although honestly, even looking at that list, I still don't feel like this was a bad year overall. And I got Puptoo out of it, so that alone ranks it right up there. :)

Fannishly, though, this is my "worst" year since I started vidding. Which, coincidentally, 2013 was my 10 year Vidding-versary. 10 years! HOW THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN? Typical that during my 10th year as a vidder I finished literally NOTHING. The only vid that I published was my Disney's Robin Hood Festivid, Strings, and that one I finished in December 2012, technically. As this year's Festivid is currently not done, not even a full draft, this is my first year with no fannish output in a VERY LONG TIME.

Most of my creative energy this year went to my photography, which is something I have always been interested in (I used to use my mom's film camera when I was 8). In 2014, I want to continue to work on my photos, but I ALSO want to vid more than just for Festivids. I want to vid for myself again, capitalize on the fannish energy that is slowly starting to return to me and give me vid ideas once more. I have some really great vid ideas, I just need to actually VID them. The struggle is balancing what little free time I have to myself between photography, vidding, and keeping up with the social network I'm a part of here on LJ/DW and on Tumblr as well. Twitter is something I do entirely from my phone, so it's mostly a "catch as catch can" venue for me. Same with Facebook. Plus, as Puptoo gets older and can go longer and longer away from me, I want to start getting back out in the world a little more sans baby again. Balance, man. It's a challenge.

**********

To finish things off on a high note, I LOVED last night's Community. I was getting disillusioned with the show back in season 3, and this season 5 return felt like the best of seasons 1/2 while also not just rehashing/returning to those seasons. There were a few things that felt off, Cut for spoilersCollapse ) Well-done, Community.

Once again fandom as a whole has jumped (adorably!) into the same fannish boat - I speak of The Avengers, of course - and I am left behind. I still haven't seen Ironman 2, Thor, or Captain America, and prospects for getting to the theater to see this one look as dismal as always. Too much responsibility, not enough outside-the-house free time. That along with some other stuff has put me in a sad, crappy mood when I am anywhere near my computer the last few days, so I've been spending a lot of time away from the computer to compensate. But I'm tired of not enjoying my online time, so I'm giving myself a mental kick-in-the-pants with resumption of my 100 Things.

8. Getting licked by a puppy

Puppies alone can fall on the happy list any time they want, but getting licked by a puppy is a particular pleasure. Their adorable little tongues, that unique puppy breath smell, how their whole bodies wiggle with joy. There is very little in life that cannot be made better by adding a puppy. Even Ron Swanson agrees with that:

Okay maybe not. On the inside he's smiling!

We are all caught up on Once Upon A Time (finale next week! I am really invested in the show these days and am excited to see what they do to end the season and into season 2) and Castle (THE FINALE PREVIEW OMG OMG OMG), as well as Community (LOVED the Starburns episode and the ending in particular) and Parks and Rec Cut for reaction spoilers to last week/thoughts for next weekCollapse ). Oh and Game of Thrones. My Jaquen H'ghar/Arya Future!Ship Feels are getting worse. Can she be about 10 years old already please?

We still haven't started Eureka, though. Last season! I'm glad the show is in control of its own destiny at this point and can end how they want. They better not break up Jack and Allison, though.

I'm glad y'all are enjoying Avengers. And I'm SUPER proud of Joss. <3

HOMG
I finished the full draft of my Wire vid! \o/ Y'all don't even know - I've had this idea since 2007. I have kicked it around, listened to the song, backed hastily away from the amount of work it seemed like it would take, screwed up my courage, fled in the face of my own inadequacy, and now, finally, I am here with a complete timeline. It's like a tiny little miracle.

To celebrate: finishing the vid meme!

Day 27 – Where is your favorite place to vid? Where would be your perfect vidding spot?

My desk in my office is probably my favorite place to vid. It's really my primary place to vid. The chair is comfortable and the lighting is good and I can easily lose hours there. I do actually vid on a laptop these days, so I have done some vidding downstairs on the couch, but the lighting sucks downstairs and it gives me a headache. I'd love to have a big, comfy, overstuffed chair in a warmly lit corner of the house, but that doesn't exist, so my desk will do.

Day 28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether vidding together, or having an artist or writer work on a piece about your vid?

I've done one true collaboration, where we both vidded, with [dreamwidth.org profile] laurashapiro and then a semi-collaboration with trelkez, where she gave me the idea and scenes to work with and had suggestions of how to vid her idea for an auction. The former was our Baltar vid, "Let's Go Crazy" and the latter was the Riker vid, "Kick In The Head." Both were excellent fun. I actually feel like my current Wire vid is an emotional collaboration with [dreamwidth.org profile] heresluck, as we have been talking intensively about it for a really long time, and she was AMAZING support during the making of it. She totally gets a credit for this one.

Day 29 – What is your current project or projects?

Heh, well, there's that Wire vid I keep mentioning! The next 6-8 months of vidding for me look like this:

1. Finish Wire vid.
2. Festivids
3. A quick, funny vid, either my ridiculous Castiel vid or the Sweet Charity vid I still owe Greensilver
4. Club Vivid vid (Deciding between Replacement Killers, Muppets, and Farscape)
5. Premieres vid (probably either another Wire vid or my Joyce vid)
6. Whichever silly vid I didn't make from #3
7. Whichever vid I didn't make from #5

Of course time and intentions and inspiration may change, so the only things I'm POSITIVE about are #1 and #2.

Day 30 – Do you have a favorite vid you've made? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!

Of my currently published vids, I actually think The Loyal, my Children of Men vid, is still my all-time favorite. It's one of my best-realized vids, it has (successful!) use of color and lighting, the song is amazing, and I never want to change anything when I re-watch it. I really liked A Bad Dream when I published it a couple of months ago, but I haven't watched it since so I can't say if it will stand up. I also still love You Can Call Me, though so much of that vid is wrapped up in the emotion of the fannish experience I was having when I released it that I always feel weird picking it as a favorite, because it feels very personal.

Look at that, I finished a vid AND a meme! Will wonders never cease?

PS - I loved this week's Community. As everyone on my flist and in reviews seems to have hated it, I will just leave it at that. This happened to me with BSG, too. Remember when I found redeeming things in "Black Market"? Good times, good times.

Geek Girl Con is this weekend in Seattle! Jane Espenson and Gail Simone will be there, along with other media guests that I am not as familiar with. Heh. Looks like there's some very interesting panels running; anyone on my flist going?

I LOVED last week's Community. Quick thoughtsCollapse )

We finally finished Life! Very spoilery thoughtsCollapse )

I would love to vid this show. Just have to see if any songs hit me for it. It's gorgeous, though, and their use of light is spectacular.

Now we have to figure out what to watch next. We have the DVDs of several currently-airing shows as well as several long-dead, and I can't decide which one to go to next. Help influence me, flist?

Poll #1783901 SDW is Indecisive

The next show SDW and AHH should watch is

Doctor Who (11th Doctor)
19(32.8%)
Fringe
16(27.6%)
The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr
4(6.9%)
Heroes
0(0.0%)
Veronica Mars
15(25.9%)
Southland
4(6.9%)

One plus one equals

Two
17(34.7%)
One
3(6.1%)
It's too Monday for math
29(59.2%)

And finally, more of the Vidding meme or I'll never get it finished.

Day 24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your vid? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

I used to have one beta that did all of the beta work for me, (aw, Fer, I miss you!). I talked to her about my ideas, I bitched and moaned to her, and she reviewed my vids and made excellent comments. We had a great rapport. As she got busier and busier, and my vids started branching out further from fandoms she was in, I started looking to other people. Nowadays I have a group of people that I complain to/get cheerleading from, one primary beta for a vid project, and then usually at least 1 other person who looks it over before it's done. I get itchy if I have too many people beta'ing a vid in-depth, so I still like having just the one major person providing commentary. (Though I did get excellent double commentary from china-shop & elynross for 'A Bad Dream,' so that way can totally work for me, too!)

Full list of questions.

Off to make breakfast and read more of the Unholyverse. *shakes fist at BrynnMck*

SDCC has been a treasure trove for two of the things I'm most excited about fannishly this year: Community and Legend of Korra (the Avatar: TLA 'sequel').

Legend of Korra has an AWESOME trailer, which you can view here at youtube.

And Community has produced spoilers for season 3 that are making me flail. First there is this interview with Dan Harmon where, as someone says in comments, he basically says all the things I never knew I wanted. Season 3 sounds pretty epic, y'all. And not in a big themed episode way, either.

Then there are these two spoilers (one is a casting spoiler) as well: Under the cut to protect the innocentCollapse )

So. That happened.

I also had one (ha ha ha) more thing to say about A Dance With Dragons: HereCollapse )

I wanted to post about the Community finale when it happened (or at least shortly thereafter), but life has been ugly the last couple of weeks and so I've been struggling just to keep afloat lately, let alone have any cohesive thoughts on a show I adore. So I will just say that I loved both parts of the finale and can't wait until the show comes back in September. If you want more, then I highly recommend this review at the AV Club, which is smart and sweet. Most notable is this non-spoilery bit which I feel sells Community better than I ever could:

Two seasons on, Community has evolved into not just one of my favorite shows on TV (I’m going to make it, Parks And Recreation, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad hold a rock-paper-scissors off at TCA) but a show that seems to incorporate virtually everything I love about television into one bright, shiny package. It’s a show about disparate people coming together to build something better. (Check.) It’s a show that tries many different types of things and has many different types of episodes. (Check.) It’s a show that isn’t afraid to try wild tonal shifts or get borderline depressing or set aside jokes for dramatic beats. (Check.) It’s a show based less around clear lead characters and more around the idea of an ensemble, one that keeps expanding to encompass more and more people. (Check.) In many ways, Community feels like it’s been pieced together from raw materials it dug out of my own brain.

That last sentence is one I could have written. I suspect my brain and Dan Harmon's would be comfortable in conversation. Except his would be funnier.

I also really liked this interview at NYMag with Dan Harmon. My two favorite parts: Under the cutCollapse )

Which leads me into this rant, courtesy of this I saw on Tumblr earlier: Under the cut for lengthCollapse )

JUST BECAUSE PIERCE AND SHIRLEY ARE OLDER DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD LEAVE THEM OUT OF AN "ALL PAIRINGS LOVE MEME." PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS NOT AN ALL PAIRINGS MEME IF YOU DON'T ACTUALLY HAVE ALL THE PAIRINGS. JFC. Also, isn't Shirley the same age as Jeff?! Plus, never been flirtatious with the rest of the group? Have you WATCHED the show?

UGH.

I really have better things to do than get annoyed at this. AND YET. Ultimately it makes me want to read Jeff/Shirley fic where she teaches him a thing or two about sex and then leaves him puppydog-eyed because she wants an older, more mature man and he realizes how awesome she is.

Other things that annoy me, the rumor from the upcoming DC Comics reboot that I hope to GOD this isn't true, but cut for potential spoilersCollapse )

I also am annoyed at all the Internet memes and reviews of Eddard Stark from Game of Thrones who keep making fun of his honor and how "dumb" he is. Let me tell you something, Internets, In Defense of Ned StarkCollapse )

IMO, Ned Stark is who Lee Adama should have been when he grew up. [Rant redacted about how that would have been a much more interesting character and character arc for BSG because, honestly, I've ranted enough for one post.]

In other news, I'm pretty sure I've lost my vidding mojo. I have ideas and enthusiasm but no time (which is why I spend my days on Tumblr and Facebook right now, because they require so little effort) and the rare occasions I can at least open FCP I just sit there unable to vid. It's awful. I've been poking at this HCL vid for weeks and can't move forward on it. I know there's a good vid in there, but my good vidder who could let it out is gone and she didn't leave a forwarding address.

In other other news, I didn't realize toddlers were walking plague bombs. I mean I knew? But I didn't know. NOW I do. I'm pretty sure someone in this house has been sick almost every week since January, and no matter who it is, it ends up making my life 1000% more difficult.

Okay, so, this is why I don't post anymore? To spare you guys *waves hands* all this.

Donald Glover - Best or SUPER BEST? YOU DECIDE.

[dreamwidth.com profile] isagel wrote a PRISON BREAK/INCEPTION CROSSOVER (PROLOGUE) FIC that is totally flail-worthy and needs to be read. (Michael/Mahone/Sara and, in my mind at least, Arthur/Eames, though that never really gets said.) It's SO GOOD. SO GOOD. And not at all cracky, but tense and tempting and I wish there was a movie of it.

Thanks to Dragon Age 2, we’re really backed up on Justified so we just watched “Cottonmouth" (the ep from three weeks ago) this weekend. I love this show so much, which "means I have basically nothing worthwhile to say about it because all I seem able to do is make flappy hands. I will say that I ADORE the Boyd & Raylan relationship and all of its complexities. And I love the show snark. And Timothy Olyphant is lethally hot. My GOODNESS. (I also have extremely complex feelings about Boyd/Ava. EXTREMELY. COMPLEX.) But HOLY SMOKES, Mama Crazy Pants is REALLY GODDAMN SCARY. YOU DON’T DO THAT TO YOUR KIDS. (I mean, you don’t do that to anyone. But ESPECIALLY your kids.)

We HAVE kept up with Community (especially since it’s been so scarce, and no new eps again until April 14!). A few thoughts on ‘Critical Film Studies’Collapse )

Two related Community links:

1. Donald Glover doing the ‘La Biblioteca’ bit with a fan (and being super adorable about it).

2. This article about Community is one of those ones that I think current fans would totally agree with and want to shout from the rooftops, but I fear people who haven’t seen the show yet would think it’s totally over-the-top. Heh.

**********

On the Dragon Age 2 front, Spoilers through Act 2Collapse )

And then last night while I was falling asleep, I had an image of Cookie Monster as a Tranquil mage, and now I cannot stop laughing. I think it would look something like this:

N is for nug, that's good enough for meCollapse )

I signed up to make a Club Vivid vid this year, but I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. The idea is really fun, but I think there’s too much source for the limited time I have. Hell, I still have this HCL vid I’ve been working on for a couple of months now lingering on the timeline. I think it’ll end up being my Premiere this year since I don’t see how I’ll get anything else done.

And in news that surprises even me – I’m going to the My Chemical Romance concert this coming Sunday and I’m really really excited about it!

I will answer comments again some day! I PROMISE. I haven't even read any comics in the last week! And my Game of Thrones re-read has slowed, too. (Part of that, I think, is because I don't want to get to the sad parts. Heh.) Just need to do Puplet’s 19 month birthday post first.

Oh, right, it's my every-two-months "I'm sick of all things Internet-related" mental downshift, where I spend a lot of time reading and not very much time participating. My mood will swing back around again, but until then, some output:

1. sarkastic made me this Prison Break moodtheme and it's made my life approximately 1000% better just by its very existence. Look at some of the choices she made! They are GENIUS. (View the entire theme here). And this moodtheme can be yours, too, because I wouldn't want to deprive someone of its awesomeness. *g*

2. On a related note, Robert Knepper has a Twitter and for reasons that I really cannot justify, I find his first tweets completely adorable. I love him. I did not get to see Breakout Kings yet though - anyone catch it?

3. This mashup of LL Cool J's "Mama Said Know You Out" and Dexy's Midnight Runner's "Come On Eileen" is...it should be listened to to be fully appreciated. It works for me!

4. I continue to lose precious hours of sleep to Dragon Age 2. I REGRET NOTHING. I'm still only in what I think is Act 2 (we haven't gone to the Deep Roads yet). Some minorly spoilery thoughtsCollapse )

5. We went to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium this weekend - gorgeous scenery views there and a nice zoo overall - and I happened to get this tiger picture. Something about his face just makes me think he's saying, "Don't MAKE me come up there and eat you."

Read more...Collapse )

6. Project 365 continues apace. I've missed about 5 days total since January 1st, but I figure I'll make them up at the beginning of next year. I also realize that now that the shiny newness of the DSLR has worn off, I really want to know how to make it work, so I'm finally getting into the technical side of photography. Early reports: I'm still fascinated! Which is a good sign. I get put off of things that require too much work unless I'm interested enough in them (I always found US schools fairly easy and almost never had to study; it instituted a long tradition of mental laziness I still struggle with today!). Having this early interest still means I'll be way more motivated to work through the harder/boring parts later. I'm still posting at my Tumblr, although I hadn't posted any new pictures since March 1 until today, so there's quite a dump on there at the moment. I still have about seven more to post and then I'll be caught up.

7. Speaking of Tumblr - I'm finding it a really addicting site. It and Facebook are giving me a high input/low required output ratio right now that is suiting my retreating mood. And Tumblr is so very visual to boot, which I am realizing more and more is my preferred communication. Which was strange at first, considering I thought of myself as a writer for years and years. I imagined I was going to be a novelist one day. But I realize now that even when I was writing, I would visualize the events in my head and just be writing what I saw. The words themselves were never what drew me in. Which is why my writing always felt/feels very ordinary. I'm not in love with the words the way great writers seem to be.

8. Tumblr also gives me all kinds of delicious comics-related goodies. I've dropped my reading rate lately since I really prefer reading the actual trades instead of on my computer, so it takes me longer to get into these digital versions I have. Plus I'm all swept up in Game of Thrones and that's been eating up all my reading time (and then some!). But I THINK about the DC comics characters a LOT. Especially Babs. She is on my mind ALL THE TIME. She's reached Ray Vecchio character status for me. That's the point on my character-loving scale where I want to protect them and can't stand to hear anyone saying anything bad about her unless it's to point out some other way she is even more awesome. Like, I know they're not perfect? BUT I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT. Unless I know you love Babs exactly as much as I do, and then you can hash out some of her imperfections. Otherwise, BACK OFF. (This particular character bag is fairly empty. There's Vecchio, Babs...I'm struggling to think of anyone else I feel quite this overprotective of, fictionally. All my other favorites I'm willing to at least hear people talk shit about them, even if I don't agree. Maybe Kermit the Frog, too.)

9. Game of Thrones - man I had forgotten SO MUCH of what happens in this book. Spoilers for the first bookCollapse ) I'm really getting excited about the miniseries. It should be interesting to see how they decide to film it - what to keep, what to discard, etc.

10. Community! I LOVE THIS SHOOOOOOW. Enver Gjokaj was great last week but I wish he could have had an even bigger role. And for longer. He should be on every show ever. The more I read about upcoming episodes, the more excited I get. Is it Thursday yet? I need more!

And that's all the news that's fit to type.

COMMUNITY HAS BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are NOT ENOUGH exclamation points for my joy. Let me turn to animated gifs intsead!

Thanks to FMM for most of these!Collapse )

Okay back to work. Please feel free to leave your own .GIF related reactions in comments. *g* (And just assume I went on a tiny rant about someone needing to let The Office die a dignified death. I just don't have time to do it justice.)

The sanest lunatic you've ever met
To wit:

1. Today I was fully initiated into the Cult of Hugh and lo, it was GOOOOOOOOOOD. I am still reeling from the HDRC performance of "Rebel Yell" (the SUIT and the HAIR and the VOICE), but we journeyed through some amazing stuff. I now know about the woman who compared her carb problem to Hugh's HEROIN ADDICTION (never. not. hilarious); about that time during a concert when Trent whispered SOMETHING to Hugh that made him make the MOST INTERESTING face I've ever seen; about the super-hot down-note moment Trent makes on one of the last "waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave"s in "Smile and Wave" (my current favorite song and video); about how Hugh managed to even win over "cynical Charlie Brown" because, let's face it, Hugh is just that awesome; and about how the "And" video never makes any more sense, no matter how many times you see it, except it is CLEARLY about PRISON BREAKS, so I of course love it. I also ate my weight in chips. It was a good day.

2. Dragon Age 2 is EATING MY SLEEP but it is (mostly) worth it. The stuff! And the things! And the people! I have done a bunch of quests and seem to have a bunch more to do, but I am the most stupidly thorough map-explorer you will ever meet (it drives AHH craaaaazy), so that takes a lot of time.

3. I LOVE COMMUNITY SO MUCH, Y'ALL. I'm spoiling myself like crazy for the finale and I am SUPER EXCITED for it and upcoming episodes. Why has there been no new Community for TWO WHOLE WEEKS? And I was so happy that Troy won FMM! YAY TROY! YAY COMMUNITY FANS!

4. COMICS. BABS IS STILL THE BEST. I've just started reading Birds of Prey from the beginning, which is an interesting exercise since I've read a few of the later trades. You know how fandom is always wondering where the good female characters are? Here's a tip for you - they are in comics! I didn't know either!

5. VIVIDCON! Even though I accidentally fell asleep and didn't wake up until a bit after nine, I did in fact get registered. Woooooooo! Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do for premieres (probably the vid that's currently lingering on my timeline, but IDK for sure) and hopefully get a Club Vivid in as well.

I have also, of course, been following the real-life tragedy in Japan, the happenings in Libya, the mockery of democracy in Wisconsin. But I'm not sure what to say except: my thoughts are with those who are suffering.

This casting spoiler for next week's CommunityCollapse )

On a related note, I enjoyed, as always, this week's Community but I have almost nothing to say about it. FOR ONCE.

We also finished Dollhouse! Major spoilers for Dollhouse season 2Collapse )

Now we have to figure out what to watch next. Decisions, decisions.

Thoughts on last night's Community including my new favorite quote everCollapse )

Who knew I'd have so much to say about Community?

ION: I have recently started delving into comics - Batgirl Year One and Birds of Prey specifically - and I did not expect to love the characters this much. I'm also getting vid ideas. For comics. This is a whole other level of technical difficulty I do not need to introduce into my life! And yet!

IOON: I'm going to the Decemberists concert tonight! YAAAAAY. I can't wait to see them again, especially as this will likely be their last tour for awhile.

I've been keeping up with Project 365 - I'm in the 40s on photos now - but still just posting to my Tumblr. I'll post a selection of my favorites here sometime soon. I got a new camera! It's so PRETTY. And terrifying. But pretty!

Time for lunch.
