Fanfic Author Appreciation was going around on tumblr yesterday. I'm reposting my contribution here.
It was hard to limit myself but five(-ish) fic recs in three fandoms.
Due South
Academic Punk by TheHoyden (RayK/Fraser): The quintessential college professor AU
Busted & its sequel Tapestry by anonymous co (RayK/Fraser): A year after CoTW, and a life-changing experience, Ray goes back to Canada
Like a House on Fire by @bethbethbeth01 & kelliem (RayK/Fraser): "In the immortal words of Yogi Berra, 'It's deja vu all over again.'"
With Six You Get Eggroll by @cesperanza (RayK/Fraser): The story of how Ray & Fraser ended up with six kids.
Ray Is Not Actually Graphing The History Of His Relationship With Fraser--That Would Be Pathetic, And Ray Is Not Pathetic--But If He Was Graphing It, Even Just In His Own Stressed-Out, Messed-Up Brain, It Might Look Something Like This by sprat (RayK/Fraser): The sex has never not been good. That is not the confusing part of Ray-and-Fraser. They are naturals at the sex; the sex is their friend. If there was some kind of sexathalon, the two of them would be All-State, trophy-winning champs.
The Losers
(in addition to the ones @jinxedambitions recced here.)
Lost in Translation by freneticfloetry (Cougar/Jensen): Jensen's given a Spanish side mission, and learns more than he thought he would. Sometimes in song.
The First Eight Don't Count by storm_petrel (and really anything by her is well worth the read) (Cougar/Jensen): Cats, man. Not to be trusted. In which Jake can turn into a common house cat.
Security Blanket by cattraine (Cougar/Jensen): Cougar shifted minutely under the flimsy camo tarp, blinked and set his eye to the scope again. To any onlooker he was the picture of glacial calm. Silent, focused, and deadly. Inside his head he had a fiery inner monologue going that would rival one of Jensen’s Red Bull fueled rants.
30 Days of OTP by @wintergrey (Cougar/Jensen): I've failed miserably at the cute 30 Day OTP going around. So I made my own list. I'm randomly rolling to get a prompt and working on it. We'll see how it goes. Thirty prompts that the author turned into a wonderful and satisfying post-movie story of Cougar and Jensen getting together and the team on their quest to take down Max.
Famous Last Words by jendavis (Cougar/Jensen): A post comic fix-it. Cougar was bleeding all over the bomb in his lap, the last time Jensen saw him. But that was then.
Fundamentals series by @kittykatthetacodemon (Cougar/Jensen): Hunting down Max is not exactly a stable career path, or a safe one. The Losers do what they can to survive, and maybe figure some things out along the way.
Captain America
Sparked Up Like a Book of Matches by sena (Steve/Bucky): Steve lives in Stark Tower and doesn't have much to do when he's not going after Hydra strongholds. He attends charity events to make Pepper happy. He goes hiking with Sam. He hangs out with Clint in Bed-Stuy and watches Dog Cops. Sometimes Tony gives him super alcohol in a sippy cup. Sometimes he sees Bucky out of the corner of his eye and wonders if it's real or if he's starting to lose his mind.
Alternately, the one with terrible jokes, a foot chase through the Lower East Side, and a tiny little robot named Shitcan.
Stem by IamShadows21 (Steve/Bucky): Bucky Barnes discovers sugar, demands coffee, makes a variety of involuntary noises, cuddles up to Steve Rogers, regrows a limb, and fakes it 'til he makes it at being a person.
To Stop My Mind From Wandering by @lynchy8 (Steve/Bucky): After the fall of Hydra, Steve goes in search of Bucky in the hope of bringing him home. Meanwhile someone has broken into Steve's D.C. apartment, but what kind of burglar or assassin buys paint and drywall mud?
Between Their Names by @sproings (Steve/Bucky): What would a background check have turned up about Steven Grant Rogers?
Hopefully not the fact that Bucky could still remember the guy’s middle name. But certainly the fact that Steve and Bucky (and Jesus how their names still flowed together in his head) had spent three years living on the same street, going to the same school.
And now they were strangers.
AKA The one where Steve teaches a knitting class, and Bucky hides in a tree, and there's a cat named Peepers
On the Other Side of a Downward Spiral by @torakowalski (Steve/Bucky): Bucky Barnes is barely functioning, let alone living, but when the Avengers find an abandoned baby girl, Bucky has to learn to look after himself, and keep the baby out of Hydra's hands. All while trying to work out exactly what kind of relationship he and Steve want from each other.
