“Whatever it takes, stay clear of the snakes…” Woof, the majority of US would perhaps have benefited from listening to this song before the election this past week. A lesson that will be learned the hard way no doubt across the coming years.
- “…there’s a widespread social cognitive bias that means we are much better at dealing with other people’s lives and problems than our own.” Solomon's Paradox as a concept is new to me, but definitely checks out based on my own experience. Toque tip to Mako for this one.
- No jobs, ghost jobs, getting ghosted by recruiters, what’s a poor tech worker to do? I’d like to think it might encourage people to look further afield to opportunities where their efforts could lead to meaningful impact rather than just making yet another waste of time app.
- As much as I am enamored by these paintings by Daniel Mullen, I wish they were sculptural instead which would give them a richer palette and really show off their architectural character.
- The PARA organizational methodology caught my attention as someone who tries to maintain some level of order over my digital archive, this looks like it might be a useful way to rethink and simplify everything.
- I’m an in-the-weeds kind of guy. It’s where my heart is — and it’s where the real fun is. I’ve always said that it’s important to be able to (at least mostly) do the things you ask someone else to do, and to when needed, prove that doing the actual work is not somehow beneath you.
- Filing a83 under the list of places to visit the next time I find myself in New York.
- Monkeys will never type Shakespeare, study finds. Clearly means Ai definitely has this one nailed, right?
- A Soft Murmur seems like something that’ll be useful over the next few years to stay sane.
- Sometimes it helps to have someone tell you that yes, you really can figure it out too.
- This extended preview of Thunderbolts* makes me think it’s going to be a fun ride.
- “I look like a pencil.” Fleabag in LEGO. Best show.
- Catalog. Thanks for this Ethan.
I think I’m finally just about through the cold that’s been dogging me the last three weeks. I managed to get out for a ride and didn’t hack my way through the whole thing so that’s a plus. And I managed to finish several print designs and produced a set of small editions of them though I haven’t decided what to do with them exactly. It’s also been nice to have a three-day weekend to step back, find some calm, and prepare for what I expect will be a long week ahead.
